Advantages Advantages soothed my sore throat

Disadvantages Disadvantages I couldn't taste any lemon, too aniseedy for my liking

INTRODUCTION I thought I was coming down with a cold a few weeks ago and I had a horrible sore throat, this is normally the time I reach for a Lemon and Ginger Infusion with a good dollop of honey in it. I came across the Twinings Lemon and Ginger infusion in Waitrose when it was on offer for 79p for a box of 20 teabags, so I bought some. I first tried this brand of Lemon and Ginger infusion around 13 years ago and I liked it at the time, so would it be just as nice now? A LITTLE BIT ABOUT TWININGS Twinings is one of the most famous and trusted brands when it comes to hot drinks. It was ... more

Advantages Advantages No caffeine or sugar

Disadvantages Disadvantages Still not as nice as coffee

Well here goes another review for herbal teas. I am still looking for the one that will replace coffee in my life. This time I chose Twinings Wellbeing Blends, Lemon and Ginger Tea. I know that I have told you about the history of Twinings before but here goes again. Twinnings had been going since 1706 and were one of the first companies to start selling tea in England. Although the cornerstone of Twinnings business is Earl Grey they have branched out, supplying green teas, fruit & herbal teas, flavoured black teas and selected origin teas. Getting back to my Lemon and Ginger tea. The box ... more

Advantages Advantages Tasty warming hot drink

Disadvantages Disadvantages You need to like ginger!

Would you like a drink with a bit of flavour that warms you through as you as you drink it and aids digestion at the same time? I do enjoy a change now and again from traditional tea and coffee and because there are a wide range of herbal infusions available in supermarkets I find it fun to try out different flavours. Twinings have been making teas for over 300 years and not only do they sell traditional and speciality teas they have a very wide range of herbal and fruit infusions within their range. Twinings Lemon and Ginger is one of their "Wellbeing Blends Infusions" ('Infusion' being a ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of health benefits

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Teabag gets waterlogged

Whenever I get ill with a cold or sore throat my mum always gets me to drink honey and lemon. When I moved away from home to go to university I seemed to be in a constant cycle of getting a sore throat and cold every six weeks. In an effort to recreate what my mum had given me but without having to keep buying lemons I decided to give this tea a whirl! The tea is made by Twinnings; a company I associate with great quality tea. Packs of twenty teabags are often around the £0.80-£1.00 mark, although I recently stocked up with about ten boxes when they were on offer in asda for £0.50! The tea is ... more

    Advantages Advantages good quality

Disadvantages Disadvantages ginger flavour far too strong

Camomila, Honey & Vanilla is normally my favourite Twinings tea but they didn't have it anymore at the shop so I tried the Lemon & Ginger tea. It didn't really convince me, both smell and taste were ginger, ginger, ginger and nothing Else. Far too strong for my liking and definitely a lot stronger than other ginger teas. -------------- Packing The pack I bought looks slightly different to the image here. My version is a orange box with a photo of a ginger root and some lemon bites dotted with water. It looks really tempting and gives you all the impression of freshness ans healthiness. All the ... more

Advantages Advantages Good if you like ginger a lot.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not great if you're wanting a lemon and ginger drink.

I've had a pack of these sat in my cupboard for quite a long time now. It doesn't get used very much as I have to say right from the start I wasn't impressed. I thought when I bought this, that the combination of Lemon and Ginger sounded rather nice. Citrusy and tangy with a spicy hot edge to it you know. Unfortunately, this is not really what I got. These teabags are square, and come in a cardboard box with no other packaging. I have to say I approve of this way of packaging them because it means that every part is recyclable. The box opens with a perforated strip round it as all Twinings ... more

Advantages Advantages None that I can think of unless you love ginger

Disadvantages Disadvantages ginger taste overpowers the lemon

Being health concious and trying to reduce the caffine intake thought I would try one of the many flavoured teas that are currently on the market, however, with hindsight I should have picked a different one. ---The packaging--- The one I bought is different to the one shown although the same shape box. Very yellow in colour with a gold band at the top (similar to the one above) with the word Twinings only and not curved. The picture on the box is of a white square place with three ginger roots and a lemon wedge sitting on the plate. Turning the box around on the side there is a part for ... more

Advantages Advantages Warm but light taste

Disadvantages Disadvantages can be a bit bitter

It all started with my mum saying "Maybe 20 cups of tea is not so good for your helath". She wasn't say this to me - I stick to my 2.5 litres of Evian every day, but to my stepdad. He as a proud englishman drinks as many cups of tea as you give him. In search of the alternative which has less caffeine in it, I came across Twinings Lemon and Ginger. Since then the whole family is hooked up. TASTE Bitter when cold, spicy when hot. I would say it taste less like lemon and more like ginger. Advantages Advantages caffeine free, refreshing, good for colds, sugar free

    Disadvantages Disadvantages none

Twinnings have a range of well-being blends. The one I am reviewing is lemon and ginger. This flavour has a very refreshing taste. Ginger has always been used to aid digestion and help relieve sickness. This flavour tea would be very good if you were suffering from morning sickness and gone off tea and coffee. It would also help if you had a bad cold or flu. You could add honey to it to make it soothing. It is a great 'pick me up and will make you feel refreshed and ready to go. The lemon flavour is the background taste and is not overpowering which makes this tea more pleasant than some other ... more

Advantages Advantages All natural ingredients, strong flavour and aroma

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very little lemon taste

I bought this tea to substitute some of the many cups of coffee I drink throughout the day. The tea is part of Twining's 'revise and revitalise' range, containing only natural ingredients selected to invigorate and aid digestion. It is of course caffeine free and contains no added sugar so is a very healthy alternative to standard tea and coffee. The teabags themselves have a very pleasant aroma, instantly releasing a warm ginger smell when you open the box. After adding hot water it's advisable to give the tea a good 10 minutes to steep before drinking as the flavour takes a while to infuse ... more
