the story begins and ends with a photograph taken when i was two years old. finding it was like discovering that i really did exist after all. it was as if someone was saying, 'no, it wasn't all in your imagination, that childhood really did happen, and it happened to you.'

Advantages: A real eye opener Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted
I probably have every new book that comes out that tells a story of childhood abuse and neglect, but this is one of the most compelling story that I have read that come under that genre umbrella.
We think that children of our generation are sometimes missed from the loop when it comes to abuse and neglect, but this is what I would call scraping the bottom of the barrel and takes place in the 60's.

i have read many books of this kind this was the most shocking.
to be yoused for the biggest campain in the 60s for the nspcc this picture of peter help raise so much money for them.
but then left be hind once thay no longer needed him to live a life of neglect abuse and cruelty by his parents and older siblings.
