Apparently I'm not as in touch with the language of the day as much as I perhaps thought I was. Even in casual daily chat I constantly leave the conversation wondering about some phrase or saying that cropped up. To be honest the actual language side doesn't particularly bother me, it's the feeling of ignorance and the feeling that I'm being left out that is most upsetting. Urbandictionary.com is an online dictionary of slang, idioms, colloquialisms, neologisms and lesser-known phrases, most of which are of an explicit sexual nature or at least highly profane. As of 2009 the site boasted 4 million definitions. This would be quite an acheivement, were it not for the somewhat lacking quality control, editing and moderation by the site's proprieters. I came across this website by accident whilst looking for something else but it helped me while away half an hour or so when I had lots to do and really shouldn't have been surfing the net! Basically Urban Dictionary is exactly that! It describes iteslf as a slang dictionary with your definitions. Yes it's a bit of a laugh where you can see exactly what people think and have defined words as. You can submit your own words and their definitions as well as read other peoples.
