Advantages Advantages Great quality and range of children's books

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some books are a little on the expensive side

As a book addict myself I'm always on the lookout for good quality children's books for my two boys, especially as they seem to be as interested in books as I am. Usborne are an established name in children's publishing having been around for the last 30 years and their range is suitable for the youngest baby with board books that are chew proof up to internet linked factual reference books for those in their early teens. You'd be hard pushed not to find something suitable for any child. My favourite books in the baby range are the "That's not my…" books. They all follow the same basic format ... more

Advantages Advantages Loads of books, earnings and parties

Disadvantages Disadvantages the work is only there if you put in the effort

I work for Usborne books at home as a Usborne book organizer. It really is a great job with a 24% commision rate and loads of free books for yourself that there really is no cons! At first i did think it was a bit too good to be true but have since found out that as a reputatable organisation Usborne make so much money from their books that they don't need to bully or press people sell their books if they change there mind. What is Usborne? Lets start with the beginning, what is usborne? Usborne is a book organisation that sells children's and teenage books. For babies there are cloth books ... more

Advantages Advantages No pressure to buy, can use it as a book club or as a home business.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Orders below £75 get a £2 postage surcharge.

This is not an ordinary book club! I was looking for a book club to get good quality educational and reading books for my children, as well as for some sort of work I could do from home. Guess what? I found both! I answered an ad pointing out that one could receive 36 children's books for £36 in January 2003, with no pressure to buy anything after that. I could not resist an offer like that, so I sent for more details, and discovered that I could buy those 36 books, and also get a 24% discount on any future orders. The postage charge for orders of less than £75 is £4.95, but by putting in ... more

Advantages Advantages Good quality books, many with novelty factors, which my child loves

Disadvantages Disadvantages The catalogue doesn't do the books justice as you can't see inside them

Usborne books can be found in many outlets these days, as well as just via the "house party" route. You will find them in many smaller locations such as childrens farms and local shops. This is a great way to buy them, because you can pick them up and browse through them to establish the suitability for your child. I have bought many of my Usborne books through this route, rather than via the representatives that run parties / leave catalogues for you to browse through. It is also fine if the party representative happens to have a copy of the book you are interested in, for you to view ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages I honestly cant think of any

This review has been expanded as requested by you the readers of this review... For those thinking buying Usborne Books or stating their own business with Usborne Books at home : Having 5 children of my own I had already heard of Usborne books, I was already reading the brightly coloured first board books to my youngest, using the English guides for my 7 year old, and had a collection of reference books on the bookshelf for my older children. So when the opportunity came up for me to join Usborne books I jumped at the chance. It cost me £38 pound for a starter kit which included the ... more

Advantages Advantages wide range, amazing quality

    Disadvantages Disadvantages sometimes pricey

Being a mother, choosing books for my child's education is a very important issue and is something that can not be done lightly. An educational book has to be attractive to the child as well as to the person who is going to help the child use it. It also has to be up-to-date with its contents, and the higher the quality the longer you will be using it for!! I own a number of books from Usborne books at Home. From "First Words books" or "Farmyard Tales" to encyclopedias, I found all books from Usborne of a high quality standard. They look nice and make reading seem more intresting to your child ... more

Advantages Advantages Helpful staff, good quality books, easy to use

Disadvantages Disadvantages £2 surcharge on orders under £80

After having my second child and returning to work part time, I started considering a way of spending more time at home with my children while still earning enough to keep the household ticking over. Now I've found a way, Usborne Books at Home. The initial outlay of £38 (£19 if you join before the end of January) was very good value. In the initial pack you get sent over £100 worth of books and stationary. You get assigned a mentor/team leader (mine has been fantastic and very supportive). There are several ways to earn money with the scheme. The first is to hold book parties (a bit like Body ... more
