My vax is 6 years old now, it has never broken down but the end of the hose is plastic and years of using it wore it down so much that it would no longer stay in the tube. New hoses are readily available and I bought one off ebay which was a lot cheaper than buying directly from Vax. This is a wet and dry vacuum which also shampoos carpets. ...months pregnant I found the VAX Machine for my rented place as it had awful carpets with really bad marks. I had a 2 spacious bed groundfloor flat with big front room and big hallway. The VAX really cleaned well. I was really amazed. Only downside is that you have to fill up with water very often cos 4 litres is not enough for one room or if there is enough left then the dirty water needs to be changed. I have now moved into a 3bed cottage with stairs ...
...and cant do stairs very well. But all in all a very good machine and does what it says. Just if you plan on shampooing your carpets make sure that you vacuum all rooms first because even though its easy to re-assemble it does take time having to dry out machine and put vacuum parts together ...
