    Advantages Advantages Exceptional cleaning capabilities , tough , stable , has castors .

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Heavy , especially when full , bulky for storing and lifting .

    Vax's have moved on , and the up to the minute ones are a progression from our model , the 5130 . They have tweaked things but the principal is the same . I know the photo shows the 6131 model but that is exactly as ours looks , except it says 5130 on it . You never know you may get offered one second hand ,or this review may help you decide which brand to go for . I asked Ciao to add the 5130 but they have added a totally different upright Vax with absolutely noting in commom with ours. Reading the quick spec for the 6131 it is very similar , if not the same , as ours . + + + + + + + + + + + ... more

    Hi Everyone and welcome to this review. Sitting in our living room one saturday I realised just how dirty our carpets were! Cola stains and the usual dirty parts around tables. The light must have been different that day as I had never noticed it before! Thats when It was decided - I was going to buy a carpet washer - Browsing through the argos book I saw this Very Orange device staring at me, knowing it was a Vax I went to buy it straightaway as I had owned one like it in the older house andd thought it was good!     Have three kids and cream carpet is a real nightmare what with spills and dirty shoes and all other sorts of stains that you could possibly imagine, my carpet was in desperate need of a good clean, I considered buying new carpet however I came to the conclusion that it will just end up in the same state as the kids are still quite young thats when I thought of a carpet cleaner, so looking through the Argos book I decided to get the Vax 3 in 1 as this is a brand name that has been around for years. It’s big and it’s orange, it must be a Vax 3-in-1. 3-in-1? ~~~~~~ What is this 3-in-1 business then? Simply put, this machine will handle wet or dry vacuuming and also serves as a carpet cleaner.     I bought my Vax 6131 back in October 2007 after my old upright vacuum cleaner finally gave up the ghost. I was searching for a new replacement upright vacuum cleaner but after stumbling across the Vax 6131 on special offer I decided a wet and dry vacuum that also shampoos carpets would be really handy, especially with a dog and cat in the house!     Vax 6131 three in one cleaner We live in a small cottage which has beams and is over 200 years old. Anyone who has lived in such a property will tell you that dust and cobwebs are an occupational hazard. As it is small we bought one of those compact bagless cleaners which turned out to be a real pain in the derriere, it would fall over rather than be dragged around, the capacity was laughable and the bits would fall out of the cupboard every time we opened the door.     I am sure that most of you are familiar with the bright orange, get your sunglasses out, Vax carpet cleaning system. I am now on my second one having bought my first when they were the state of the art vacuum cleaner and launched into the shops some twenty years ago. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not an obsessive cleaner, but we currently own three hoovers. Interestingly, none of them are actually made by Hoover!     We have had this Hoover for years and years. I actually think it is the 2nd Vax that we have had since myself and my husband started to live together all those years ago. I am not allowed to do the Hoovering at home as hubby decided that I wasn't any good at it. I don't take that as an insult, it's a lucky escape from having to do it, and I think the way I Hoover he is probably right - I just aim the brush at random bits. Since he was small he used to help his mum with the Hoovering so this is "his job". He was in charge of picking the Hoover and he picked this as his parents had always had ... more

    Well you would be if you purchased a Vax Rapid + 5140 blindly. Firstly I want you to know, I'm not mocking this excellent canister vacuum cleaner. With it's powerful 1400 watt motor and ability to wash and dry carpets and upholstery, it's more than a match for all those cat and dog hair's, not to mention the whiff they leave behind, You can even use it to suck up water and unblocking drains. The Vax itself is a great product which I would recommend to anyone, but before you buy it check what supplies you will need, also what they cost.
