Advantages Small, light, quiet and effective - great value for money
Disadvantages Small dirt capacity, telescopic tubes and head tend to fall off.
I was using a 25-year-old foreign cylinder cleaner (bought abroad and department store 'labelled', but probably Electrolux or similar), which didn't suck up much anymore. My mum gave me her Dyson because she couldn't manage with it; turned out that I couldn't get on with it either (4 to 6 new belt thingies per year and so heavy, unwieldy and noisy, while really not as powerful as I'd expected).
