I was surprised by the small size of the box and assumed that there would be some assembly required but the box was easy to carry and weighed 5.6 kg so it wasn't difficult carrying it back to my car some distance away. Well when i bought this hoover i was expecting good things, but i dont think its all that great and while i dont rate the dyson very highly i would have to say i would rather use one of those than this. ...just how much dirt the VAX pulled out of my carpets. The suction on this machine is very powerful whether you're using the hose and attachments on the stairs or pushing it along on the carpet. One small drawback is that it is very loud but you soon get used to it. It's a bit heavy so I wouldn't suggest dragging this up more than one staircase in a cleaning session. To use the attachments you have to unhook the hose from the main beater brush part of the machine and slot it into the provided attachments so the dirt goes into the dustbin, which sounds a bit weird at first but is very simple once you figure it out. My main criticism of the Vax Swift was that it was extremely fiddly to change from floor to tools: First you have to disconnect the short, main hose from the base of the cleaner, by turning a bayonnet-type connector; then you have to remove the extension hose from its holders and connect that to the main hose, again using the bayoneet-type connector. Then you have to remove and attach the extension tube and whichever tool you wish to use and connect ...
...- you have to do all this again, in reverse, when you want to continue to use the vac in the normal, upright position!
