Vax Astrata Vacuum Cleaner After a battling for 18 months with a bagged upright Hoover vacuum cleaner, that my Mum had given me, I decided it was time for something a bit more modern. I live in a 3 bed semi with my partner and 2 cats so I needed something substantial but nothing overly flash! I started my search for a new vacuum cleaner on the internet reading reviews, checking prices and hunting down bargains. I quickly decided on a cylinder type cleaner - as they are easier to manoeuvre than upright machines. I then decided on a bagless type cleaner - who wants to be buying vacuum cleaner ... more

Advantages Advantages Good level of suction, provided the filters are cleaned often.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very poor accessories. Messy to keep filters clean.

I have the V-064TB version of this cleaner. The TB is for TurboBrush. This is a machine with a good level of power that is ruined by poor accessories. I've found the suction good so long as the filter is cleaned regularly. It has never cut out on me unlike the other reviews. This is my first bagless machine. It is easy to empty although it needs emptying pretty frequently. The capacity is much less than it may first appear as the full level indicator is only a third of the way up the canister. I couldn't clean all of the downstairs without emptying it. The central filter needs to be cleaned by ... more

General I bought this Hoover on the 18th of September 06 I no the exact date because this is when I went into to labour, I was in early labour as I was buying this but I didn't even no. I bought it from Argos in a sale for £53 which was good the RRP was £79.95. When I took it out of the box I was surprised at how different it looked to the picture, it looked so much better. It's bigger than what the picture shows it to be, I was really impressed and so was my partner which was a surprise because he usually always finds something wrong with the things that I buy. When I eventually got around to ... more

Advantages Advantages Metal telescopic tubes. Easy to manoevre.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Clogs easily. Overheats. Flimsy flexible tube (collapses easily). Flimsy tools. Stowage rubbish.

This was not a wise purchase. £60 from Argos, 18 months ago. Frustration from the start. The tools were 'held' in place on the handle above the tubes but always in the way, cumbersome - so I removed it (but have nowhere to keep the tools now). The filters/cyclone clogs repeatedly and after a only a little use. Emptying and washing(!) the filter seems to the only way to get this blighter to work anywhere near expected. Forget to do this, i.e. get it out for a quick vacuuming and it'll overheat and shutdown and the reset takes AGES! The flexible plastic tube collapses easy especially if you turn ... more

Advantages Advantages No Bag, max & min suction option. cord retraction button

Disadvantages Disadvantages Motor Cuts out very quickly, overheats, quite heavy

Bought this last year, also bought one for my mum. The motor overheats very quickly and it just cuts out, have to wait an hour for it to work again. I cant even finish the stairs without it cutting out and my mums is just the same. I either purchased a faulty batch or it just cant handle carpets which take a while to vaccum. I wouldnt recommend at all. Very disappointed. There is no bag and emptying is quite easy and striaghtforward. The cord retracts back into the vaccum which is quite handy. It alshas a button for either more or less suction, but mine is alsways on full, maybe thats why it ... more
