Advantages Advantages smooth ride, quiet, spacious, straightforwards

Disadvantages Disadvantages no rear windscreen wiper! Slightly disturbing onboard computer

Before I start, for tech-y car reviews, I'm afraid I'm not your girl. I don't have a great understanding of the ins and outs of cars, and won't pretend to! What I hope to do here, is give an indication of what it's like to own, drive and love this car, in a rambly fashion! A long, long time ago I reviewed my dear first car, a Rover 414i. Alas, 7 months ago, after realising all too late the temp gauge wasn't doing anything, dear Pippin expired in a flush of smoke and the AA van, and I was left carless, heartbroken, and absolutely gutted. Being the type of girl to get overly attached to ... more

    5 Stars Looking good!! 22/08/2004
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Good for motorway driving, good sized boot, climate control

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not good on fuel economy, very long so difficult to park

This car feels nice to drive, it is powerful and comfortable and on motorways and long journeys is excellent. However, it drinks fuel so as a runaround or a family car, not so good. I live in a rural area and it handles the bendy country rounds wonderfully in all weather. It's very responsive and moves smoothly and easily through the gears. The interior has been very well designed with a number of seating positions for the driver, including an adjustable steering column that not only moves up and down but backward and forward as well. There is plenty of legroom for driver and front passenger ... more

Advantages Advantages Great looks, comfy ride, easy to drive, great stereo.

Disadvantages Disadvantages It's a shame its not available as a convertable

A trutly excellent car with many features that incorporates style and comfort. Being in this car is a brillilant experience that it is just as comfortable as being a passenger and actually driving this wonderful car. It has a powerful engine which churns out immense power for a saloon car and the ride is very comfortable indeed. The stereo in this car is truly amazing. Excellent bass and treble that feels just as your'e listening to your own hi-fi. There is plenty of head room and leg room, enough for Peter Crouch. The seats are very comfortable and also relaxing. They make you feel 'at home' ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Size, build, reliable, good suspension and road holding

Disadvantages Disadvantages fuel economy around town, slightly underpowered

I have a Sept 2004 model vw passat estate 2.0 S Petrol. This vehicle has been an extremley good buy. It was 1 year old when bought and I have had no faults with it since purchase. The car is very well made and extremely spacious. Controls and switch gear all feel well made and are of high quality. Seats are comfortable and car is effortless on long journeys. Fuel economy could be better around town but is good on the motorway. Can easily get 35-40mpg on motorway, town driving between 25-30mpg. Engine power is reasonable with 130bhp and is quite capable. Boot space is excellent and rear seats ... more

    Advantages Advantages powerful, dependable

Disadvantages Disadvantages little technical issues always pop up

This car has caused me a few problems as I've had mine since it was brand new and took multiple cross country trips within a couple years. The sunroof had a leak, the coolant had a leak, we have hit a few deer, the check engine light randomly comes on, it currently has an airbag fault issue, and the lighter in the back seat broke. BUT I have gotten multiple new/used cars since my purchase of this passat as an additional car, and this one is still my favorite to drive. She is powerful, but more like a Budweiser Clydesdale compared to Seabiscuit. She handles real well and just feels real safe ... more
