Advantages: Hold there price well. Cheap to run. Reliable. Disadvantages: Dear to buy second hand. Hard to clock up fuel points!!
I have been blessed with the use of a company car and it couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I have always used the second car to potter back and forwards to work clocking up about 50 miles per week. It was a shock to my poor old beloved Sierra when I moved and it jumped up to over 150 miles a week. The Sierra was always at home pottering around the streets but felt out of place bombing down motorways at over 70mph.
I was starting to look ... ...Polo to use, hence saving a fortune on what I was going to pay for a car. I had just moved and my bank account had been empty by Mr Estate agent and Mr Solicitor so I could use the money to pay my debt off .Yippee!! this is the first time since leaving school that I am completely debt free, except for my mother of a mortgage.
The car costs me £90 a month which I pay as extra tax which includes private use and all fuel charges. This was a saving ...

Advantages: Comfort and safety Disadvantages: no CD Player!
I have finally got round to saving enough money to buy a new car. I have a T reg Peugeot 106 1.5 Diesel before and it was excellent fuel economy. I drive 500 miles a week, just in a communte to work and back so fuel economy is something I take very seriously. My Pug could do up to 600 miles to a £40 tank of fuel.
I searched and searched and with a budget of around 5k, I was looking for a car that was durable (mechanically) and relatively fuel efficient ... ...VW because of the build quality and longevity of the mechanical parts. I had read that VW have a very good reputation (my sister has one too and swears by VW!)
I opted for diesel because of the long term fuel saving on the mileage.
Then I chose the Polo over the Lupo because it was slightly bigger and comfortable on long journeys. I felt safer in the Polo - I'm not sure why?! But I felt the Lupo would be lost on the motorway doing motorway speeds ...

Advantages: Small, economical and comfortable Disadvantages: Limited choice of interiors, and standard colours available
I bought my VW Polo SDi in November 2002; a new model was lauched in Summer 2002. I got the car after a brief period of research of similar cars on the market, and eventually went for this one because of VW's good reputation, and a good price deal that the dealer was offering at the time. I was also lucky to qualify for 1 years free insurance, which I think saved me over £500, as I was only 21 years old at the time.
The car looks good in silver, ... ...it was worth the extra £250 as the car will be more sellable when I come to sell it on. The car features front, passenger and side airbags; ABS; height adjustable driver seat; hidden storage space under the driver and passenger seats; electric windows; heated wing mirrors; central locking; air conditioning; climate control.
My car is a 3 door, with grey interior. It is also available as a 5 door, which would probably be more practical for those ...

Advantages: Easy to drive, economical Disadvantages: drab interior
We have had a VW Polo diesel for over 4 years now and can honestly say its been a great car, never let us down and still feels as new now even with almost 65000 miles on the clock. We had it originally in Germany and it was thrashed 100 miles a day up and down the autobahn at around 100 mph and yet still returned an average fuel consumption of 35-40 mpg. When we brought it back to the UK and consequently rarely exceeded 80mph the consumption leapt ... ...throughout and although the dealers have varied enormously in quality it hasn't mattered that much because there has never been much work to do.
When we bought the car we didn't even get a test drive and it was very much on the VW name. Inside the trim is practical rather than flash, the seats hardly look worn and the thick rubber mats have provided perfect protection to the carpets. We've taken the car to Italy and it performed fine climbing the ...

Advantages: Economical Disadvantages: Interior workmanship could be a bit better
I have been very happy with my Polo, the economy rate is unbelievable even though it is a 1.9l, there have been no problems and I am the biggest advocate of the VW brand. So reliable, our family has owned about 10 in the past 7 years and never a breakdown. The boots space is something to behold, I havne'y come accross a car of this size with such a large boot space. With the two seats that fold down there is more than enough space for our two bycycles.

Advantages: Comfortable ride, reliable and get hundreds of miles out of the tank! Disadvantages: Lacks in fancy gagets, a TDi may be a better drive
My little Polo is a 1996 plate 1.9D bought from my sister-in-law about a month ago.
I have owned a Polo before, but this little one is purley brilliant!!
This car is not brimming with features, but has all the standard stuff you could want - central locking, electric mirrors and best of all - comfort!
Although its small I have never driven a car that was so easy to sit there and relax in! I've owned a lot of cars - most of them much bigger and ... ...the case at all! I could drive for hours in this.
She has done just over 77000 miles but as most people will tell you, VW's have everything to give and I am confident that she is going to keep going for a long time yet!
I do a lot of motorway miles, but even so with it being a 1.9 I was concerned with the consumption, however I am happy to say that it only costs me £30 to filll the tank and this will get me at least 450 miles!!! Unbelieveable!!

First things first, these cars are economical! I remember doing a 130 mile round trip on £5 with four of us in. I have had both a 1997 'CL' and 1996 'L' model, the interior in the CL was really nice, the seats are comfy and it has electric windows, central locking and dark carpets, rather than the 'L' which was basic with the drab grey interior. I had to sell my CL version because it vibrated too much and got very bad at starting. 'thats what they're ... ...dad. But this was more than a little diesel shake, it gave me headaches. Nobody knew how to fix it so i had to sell it. My second one had piston ring damage, so went through oil like a jag goes through petrol. It failed to start most of the time and left a plume of white smoke whereever i went. Look out for soot in the tail pipes for this fault. It can usually mean the death of a car. The size i found to be perfect, easy to park and pretty spacious. ...

Second good thing was it's economy it was perfect because I drove this car from mansfeild to nottingham the next day ot birrmingham and back and drove around ... ...diesel it was not bad it did not make much noise, it did not give of exxcesive smoke , and it even drove smothly. And the best thing was it was equipped with great ussaual stuff that some other small cars don't have eg power steering ,radio cassete ,electric sunroof ,electric windows. And reliabilty of the car outstanding because it starts and drive really smoothly even in cold weather but other small cars don't really start in cold weather you have ...

My first car was a VW Polo 1.9 D (P Reg). Fantastic for a first car. It was bought for be due to it being so reliable and safe. My father was sure that I was going to get a car like Ford KA and he refered to it as being made out of tin! Though it was an old car, it still had central locking and electric windows etc. It was a fantastic car. Cheap to run, safe, handles well, powerful and looks good on the road too. Luckily I never had an acceident ...
