As with all Role Playing Games, you earn experience as you complete quests, kill enemies or solve puzzles in order to advance in level and develop your disciplines (the term used for the powers that vampires have access to). Instead of health, blood is lost when damage is taken or disciplines are used. This must be replenished by finding blood containers, be they glass, friend or foe, for if your ... ...you will break out in a frenzy that threatens your very humanity.
Although the game itself is nicely presented, some parts can be rather difficult, with sheer luck getting you through an area rather than skill. The other player characters are a nightmare and cannot be ignored without suffering the consequence of them running off to do their own thing that inevitably leaves them dead and you in a certain creak without a paddle.

...your way through roughly 75 vampire kindred, their leader is bemused and only slightly impressed at your accomplishment. He mocks you and forgives you despite your genocidal tendencies. The gameplay basically amounts to combat and then more combat, with the reward of getting to engage in more combat after that. This would be fine if the combat didn't consist of clicking your left mouse button to attack, right button to cast spells, and micromanaging ... ...things easier to deal with, Vampire is unwieldy since it's in third person. The AI of the bad guys is only fair. The monsters charge and attack, use spells well, and they tend to go for the lead (read: most powerful) character, but they are at the mercy of very small zones of activation. Enter their zone; they react. Pepper them with missiles from afar; they stand there and eventually die. They ignore the death of their friends, and worst of all, ...

...game here we see the Vampire myth in its most popular (at the moment) interpretation - that of the White Wolf storyteller roleplay series. Does it measure up to expectations.
First of all, let me say that I have played Vampire in the past and have been a roleplayer (both analogue and digital) for many years - take that informtaion as notcie that my review may be slanted towards people who are used to roleplaying or Vampire roleplay purists.

Basically, Vampire suffers from one major problem as far as I am concerned - it is NOT a roleplay game! It is a 3rd person hack & slash em up with some character development added in and the odd bit of story line work. After talking to people for a while (the path of which is very linear and leaves little room for sideplots or exploration) you will inevitably be sent into a dungeon to hack your way through a few levels of creatures ...

...where you are usually the Vampire slayer... here (after a short stint of running round as a o-so-holy knight) you can finally join the dark side, suck blood in alleys and be engaged in a hidden fight for power among vampire factions.
The game is based on a very nice 3D-engine, allowing you to zoom round the characters in breathtaking sequences (and especially in the beginning, trying to find a perspective where you can finally see whats happening), ... ...game is easy (even beginners can figure out the Click-left - click-right actions in nearly no time at all). The athmosphere is downright gloomy (I recommend playing in a darkened room with a monitor tuned down to display only a little bit more than shadows) and with enough imagination you *are* stalking the streets yourself. Combine that with a nice complicated magic system ("Disciplines") and tons of statistics to tune and you got a fine adventure.

...after the origninal release date, Vampire finally made it onto the shelves, but was it worth the wait? In a word, yes! Vampire is one the most amazing games i have ever seen. The graphics truly are amazing, which unfortunately means a top spec PC is needed to view it in its full glory, but if your computer can handle them, it is one of the most stunning gaming worlds i have seen. This enough might persuade you to buy it, but wait, there's more. The ... ...effects and, (and this is really something to shout about!), good acting by the main characters! General/Summary: The game is ok , nothing spectacular , great graphics and nice idea , but they coudl have done so much more with it ! The conversion from the paper game to this game is fairly good . But there isn't the depth in the game that you'll look for if you played the paper version. The Story in the single player isn't all that , but it'll keep you going for some weeks , although experienced players will finish it within 5 days .

But that's where you would make a mistake , i played this game , while i was playing another one and didn't give much credit to the multiplayer at first ! ...first thing I heard about Vampire was that it would need a really high spec to run the machine ..... however my P366 Celeron with a Diamond Viper graphics card and a mere 96mb of RAM is coping most admirably. Now I can safely say here is a game that will grab you by the throat, literally. No, no, no this is not good, cheesy references to all things vampiric will end here (promise).
This game is at the absolute pinnacle of good gaming. It's got so much depth you'll get vertigo. The characters are well thought out and filled with a life of their own, even the extras. The graphics are on a par with what you would expect from a game on the very bleeding ... ...suck you in and never release it's grip.
The single player mode is a classic piece of scripting. Leading you in small baby steps into what can be a quite complex RPG system (if you didn't know already, VTM: R is based on a paper-based game from ages past), it takes you into a story that spans ages. Twists and turns will make you play 'just another hour or two' to find out what new revelation the plot will throw at you, but it will never leave you ...

After a long wait I finally got my copy of this game. I must say that I was very pleased with it and could not stop playing it at first. I have to admit that my interest waned though as the game progressed, especially as the game moved into the present day and I found myself playing it less and less. I've now put the game into hibernation, as I really enjoyed it while I was playing it but my interest dropped, I'm hoping I can pick it up again in ... ...see. The graphics in this game cannot be faulted with lots of new lightning effects and the most detailed shadows I've ever seen. The music is the best music I have ever heard in a game, and the sound effects are very good too. It's well worth a look, and will probably appeal to traditional pen and paper RPG players, computer RPG players and action game players. ...

The graphics of Vampire The Masquerade are without a doubt, stunning. Forget any screenshots you may have seen, they simply do not do the game justice. The character models, the architecture, incredible lighting effects and the stunning soundtrack all help to create a very accomplished atmosphere within the game. This does mean however, that the areas in the game are relatively small and interaction is limited.
So, what is the answer to ... ...no fault of its own, it cannot. Vampire The Masquerade is still only a sophisticated hack 'n slasher no matter how pretty it may be. This however, is no bad thing, as it is an excellent example of the genre and fans of such games will no doubt enjoy it. ...

I have never rated "over-the-shoulder" view games. This is different. From the very first, it's addictive. Okay, so you need the patch or it's rubbish (you can't save games), but the patch (which, incidentally has been reported as unreliable and causing probelms) worked first time for myself and my friends. You walk round killing things, and it's basically just a great game. Every now and then you lose control of your characted while a bit of plot-telling ... ...back to the game. I have never even played an over-the-shoulder view game for longer than about 5 minutes - they're not my cup of tea. And I don't even like dark/vampire/horror genre games, either. I'm not sure whether it's the nice movement, the easy view changes, or the good story and strong characterisation. but I can't stop playing it! ...

I must say that I was quite looking forward to V: TM. After seeing some initial screenshots a while back, I thought that the game was showing some real promise. However, on playing the game, I have realised that it is not all that I had hoped it to be.
Firstly, I shall give a brief run-down of the story:
The game is set in 4 different locations, over 2 time zones. You start your quest as Christof, a brave and valient knight, who is forced to leave ... ...nearby convent to be tended to, and pretty soon you fall in love with the nun who is nursing you back to helath. Alas, fate soon plays a cruel trick, and you are turned into a vimpre, separating you from your love.
The game revolves around a point-and-click interface, with the mouse being used for the majority of commands in the game, although the keyboard can also be used. A simple click is all that is needed to tell your character to go somewhere, ...

...finally got a copy of vampire despite all the reviews and all i can say is it turned out to meet all my expectations although it is still a bit buggy and it is tough to host a multiplayer game with only a 56k I recommend a DSL or cable connection. Before i go onto the single player aspect I can say that the multiplayer is very good and role players and people who have never role played will enjoy it as you can duel or quest you just have to find ... ...got caught in the whole vampire universe although the speech is a bit "weird". The patch is out and i reccomend you download. This game is extremely worth buying and you can expect many hours of gameplay.It is very easy to get into and you will start enjoying it immediately. So go out and buy it. Although if you are not good at these role playing games spend a little extra on the strategy guide trust me it is not a walkthrough but a big help with ...
