Slippy slidy moisturising jelly!

Advantages: Tons of uses- very versatile, cheap, one tub lasts a long time
Disadvantages: Er....?

Vaseline is a perfect, cheap alternative to moisturiser for all your dry bits and lips. It is 100% petroleum jelly with no colours, no fragrances- absolutely nothing added! Because of this, it is hypoallergenic and suitable for everyone to use- from babies right through to the elderly. ***History*** Petroleum jelly was discovered by Robert Chesebrough in 1859 in Brooklyn, New York. Within 6 months of discovery, Chesebrough had twelve wagons distributing ...
...petroleum jelly. The patent of Vaseline used to be owned by Chesebrough-Pond's Inc but is now owned by Unilever. ***Range*** Vaseline produce not only petroleum jelly but have, more recently, introduced the Vaseline Intensive Care range, incorporating hand and body moisturising creams, deodorants and anti-perspirants. As this is a review of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, I'll stick to talking about that. It comes in the following sizes: - 'Pocket ...

When your thighs need lubrication

Advantages: Versatile
Disadvantages: Slimey

...(oh, pleeeeeease...) so my friendly Vaseline manages to curb this insidious trait leaving my lurvely hairy pins in tact and unchapped ready for their next waxing. As mentioned earlier, petroleum jelly has multiple uses. One of my good friends from the Virtual world of opinionating (drinks Newkie Broon and swears a lot) tells me it's great for popping on his lips. I'm sure I know what he means and it's a relief that his oral Mick Jaggers are kept ...
...it's hot enough yet, then Vaseline has been a Godsend for many years. Simply apply to scolded area for some relief. I can't say I've ever done this myself preferring to call an ambulance but if it's only a minor burn then Vaseline will help as it did those manly oil workers way back when. Those with bairns will also swear by the omnipresent Vaseline. I mean, nappy rash ain't pretty so a regular dose of our miracle product should make life easier ...

While each of these has a specific use, the 100% Pure version is usually your best bet because it can be use for all these purposes and more. As far as I’m aware, not all of these are available in the UK (and definitely not in Germany) but most American drugstores (and websites) offer some if not all of the selection. ...

Multi-purpose wonder stuff

Advantages: Cheap, versatile
Disadvantages: ?

Vaseline is the cheapest, most undervalued cosmetic that I know. Most people have used at one time or another but, once we're past puberty, it is usually relegated to use as a lip balm (unless you're into using it as lubricant... it rots condoms - enough said!). It does, in fact have hundreds of uses, some of which I've listed below: 1. Moisturiser - Best watered down a little if you're in a hurry (preventing the oil slick look), this is one of ...
...original. Put a bit of vaseline on your face and it'll take off evn the most stubborn waterproof mascara without irritating your skin. 3. Lash Conditioner - Apply a small amount to your eyelashes before going to bed. Many models swear by this for thicker, glossier eyelashes. 4. Lip Balm - Always great on raw, chapped lips. Unperfumed and not too greasy. None of the sickly flavours that stop my man snogging me! 5. Anti-blister treatment - Long ...

Looking luscious

Advantages: Multi use
Disadvantages: Very greasy

I first tried Vaseline about 3 years ago because it was all over every magazine I was reading (not literally of course) as the best beauty product available. I considered buying some for ages but eventually I could resist no more. So off I went to my local chemist and bought a HUGE tub of white petroleum jelly(I was told its exactly the same stuff) and I fell in love with it instantly. I just used it on my lips at first and they were lovely and ...
...tub, put a blob of vaseline in, then chop off a little piece of lipstick and stick that in the tub, then put the tub in the microwave and zap it for about a minute. Voila! A cheap new tinted lipgloss!) Another of my favourite vaseline recipes is body scrub. I don't know what made me think of making that but i did and now i make it all the time. Get a blob of vaseline, throw in some salt or sugar, and maybe a few drops of essential oil if you have ...

Versatile Vaseline

Advantages: An effective way of keeping your skin soft on a budget
Disadvantages: None

...Chesebrough called his new discovery Vaseline and now a pot of this versatile jelly is a must have for most family medicine cabinets. Vaseline is a blend of mineral oils, microcrystalline waxes and paraffin, the jelly stays firm until it reaches a temperature just slightly above body heat and then it starts to melt. The petroleum jelly then penetrates the skin and once it has settled into place filling gaps in our lipid barrier and areas in between ...
...Once you have applied Vaseline to your skin it protects it thoroughly in all winds and weather and keeps the moisture that is already in our skin locked safely in place. Vaseline is now a Unilever product, it has been on the market for over 130 years and is probably among one of the most versatile skin care products around. I have just read some very interesting facts that are news to me, our skin loses 200ml of water everyday as evaporation takes ...

It all began in 1859...

...mind...Where did the idea for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly come from? Then one day whilst surfing around on 'useless knowledge' sites, I found my answer: Robert Augustus Cheesebrough In 1859, when oil was first found in Pennsylvania, Robert was a 22 year old chemist in Brooklyn who had become an expert at extracting kerosene from cannel oil. He realised that petroleum products would be the fuel source of the future so he headed to Pennsylvania to get ...

Smear Vaseline petroleum jelly on clean car battery terminals. To repair stains, rings, and minor scratches in wood furniture. Cover ...

Top of the Pots

Advantages: Endless
Disadvantages: Researchers have found that Vaseline may increase yeast infections in babies.

...----------- As a general moisturizer, Vaseline is very effective indeed. Chapped lips can be speedily soothed and dry skin eliminated. Silky-soft feet can easily be achieved overnight by covering them in Vaseline, putting socks on – in the morning your feet will be lovely and smooth. Supermodel Alek Wek has said that she uses the product as everyday moisturizer on her face. I have tried this and wouldn’t recommend this to anyone unless ...
...easy mistake of thinking that Vaseline makes eyelashes grow quicker. This (unfortunately) has been proven as a mere beauty myth. Its leather-polishing powers are good but, again they sometimes to leave a slight sliminess on the surface. I personally prefer Savlon to Vaseline for soothing burns etc – it smells nicer and somehow feels cooler on the skin. Value for money ------------- VFM is reasonable – Vaseline isn’t that cheap ...

...it's my little tub of Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly. These tubs come in 3 different sizes - 50g for 99p, 100g for £1.29 and 200g. I am unsure what the 200g tub is priced at as it is not available at my local Tesco. As well as being sold in supermarkets, it is also available in all good pharmacies. The tubs are clear but have a slighty yellowish colour because of the product inside. There is a blue label on the front and on the top of the white lid ...
...Vaseline is a registered trade mark of Chesebrough-Pond's who make the product. You are advised of their address on the back of the tub and of their freephone telephone number if you have any queries or comments (0800 591720). The only ingredient of this product is White Petroleum Jelly. As you open the tub you are faced with a thick, greasy looking substance. It gives off a very slighty oily type smell - but not enough to be offputting. It certainly ...

...read a great op on vaseline which gave some good ideas that I had never thought of but I wanted to add some ideas of my own. Vaseline is only 99p a tub and is generally used for dry skin but here are some more ideas: Whilst on holiday, after scuba diving, my flippers had been rubbing on my toe and it got infected and actually started going purple. You can also use it for drawing out spots which never seem to go away. Just put a dollop over the affected area before you go to bed. It may not work immediately put keep ...
