Mk 4 Astra 1.6 8v Club
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by raflad1982

Advantages: Price, fuel economy, cheap insurance, cheap parts, nice looking
Disadvantages: Drab uninspiring interior, basic equipment levels, horrible seat trim, needs the pokier 16v engine

...interior. One gets the feeling vauxhall deliberatly choose the worse colours to use in the basic Astra, I got horrible grey velour seats (yes the same colour as in the cavalier!!) and a horrible brown/beige/black colour dashboard which was franlkly irritating to sit behind. However, good points for this car definitely outweigh the bad, especially if (unlike me) you are not after good performance from your car. The car was very cheap to run, I managed ... Read review

Life runs smooth with an Astra
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by BloodySpike

Advantages: Smooth and cheap to insure
Disadvantages: Its a British Car

...engine under the bonnet. The Vauxhall Astra runs very smoothly and you can’t even hear the engine running. Since I’ve only had this car for a week then I can only tell you my experiences and they are all good so far. The Features for this car include: - Air-Conditioning - Driver’s and Front Passenger’s airbags - Front Seat Head Restraints - Front Seatbelt force limiters and body-lock pretensioners - Two Rear Seat Head ... Astra Club 1.6 16v Automatic
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by tenorhorn

Advantages: Very nippy
Disadvantages: No CD player

I really liked this car. I leased this from new so I got the joys of running it in. Absolutely perfect performance throughout running in. It was nippy and accelleration was more than adequate for me (definitely needed on my journey to work, seeking out suitable breaks in the traffic). It has a sports button to give you a bit more of a racier start or faster accelleration when needed. I was very impressed with the smooth gear change on this car as ... Read review

Great seond-hand car for a student - girls view
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by PinkPugDancer

Advantages: Cheap, Cheap, Cheap, doesn't look too bad
Disadvantages: interior, quite big

...car!!! However, I bought a Vauxhall Astra as my first car after being a student and it cost only £250.00 which was good for a car which was only 5 years old. The insurance was reasonable considering that I was a new driver. Also the tax was not too bad. The car lasted me three years and in the whole time, mechanically the car was fine. There were a few problems with the clutch, but this was fixed at a cost of about £100.00. I do not know ... Read review

Pity about the door seal
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by smiley_mcspadden

Advantages: Good sized boot, handles well, air conditioning good in summer
Disadvantages: 16 valve version is nippier, door seal on nearside is drafty.

I love driving this car but as a passenger I find the drafty door seal annoying. The automatic is quick, has a good kick-down and the sports button comes in handy for overtaking. Satellite controls on the steering wheel are good- keeps your eyes on the road. Top half of glove box ok, bottom half too deep and difficult to reach into the back. Seats comfortable for up to 2 hours driving, gets a little uncomfortable after that. Air conditioning is very ... Read review

Good But Not good Enough
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by polydeuces

Advantages: Reasonable performance, adequate room.
Disadvantages: Competitors much better

...James proclaimed that the new Vauxhall Viva used 14% thicker steel and was ‘built to last this year’. Now there were two problems with this statement which immediately sprang to mind, firstly it implied that last years Viva’s were not built to last or the current model was to built to last out the year and then fall apart. Anyway the Viva was moderately successful although 14% thicker steel rusts just as quickly as thinner steel if not protected ... Read review

Quick review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by jay472000

I had pains after driving a geared car so i was looking for an automatic so that i would have to do less work with my feet. I had a test drive before purchasing this vehicle, but the problem was that i had never driven an automatic before so i was worried. During the test drive i could not belive how easy the car was to drive, so smooth and reliable. I bought it ASAP.

Vauxhall astra club
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by tinkerbellnm

Advantages: looks good for a cheaper car
Disadvantages: quite cramped inside

This car is exactly the same as mine exept for the fact that mine is red. It is a very good reliable car that will start every morning. The only problems that occur with these cars is the engine maintenance light comes on and the glove box breaks but is still usable. I have a few friends who have the same car and the same problems occur. But overall a good fast (ish) car that will not let you down (especially in the winter). I think another good thing ... Good Buy!
Review of Vauxhall Astra Club 1.6i hatchback by Jack_Mayo

Advantages: Spacious and Practical
Disadvantages: Power

...we have een used our vauxhall to carry 4 (to in boot, 2 in attached trailer) wood burners over 80 miles with ease (each weighting around 80kg). This car is very practical as far as families and/or small businesses are concerned and low range torque is very good. (Astra's also have endless options of customisation ranging from front and rear spoilers, grills, spot lights, neon light, sound system and different lights all the way to racing seats, ...
