If you are prepared to do just a little work on the car yourself, then this is the motor for you. The estate version has bags of room and although I'm 6'3", I can still drive with a full drum kit, two tympanii and a collapsable Xylophone in the car along with a few clothes, map, music and a cold drink for after the performance. ...

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Astra.
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
Marans
Advantages: No frills practicality
Disadvantages: Model dicontinued
...in to look at a Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i Estate.
Well it wasn't perfect. I'd asked for a diesel and this ran on unleaded petrol. It was a vile colour but I'm not fussy about that. Someone had keyed it all alomg the drivers side, but it hadn't gone through to the metal.
I opened the rear door and found exactly what I'd been looking for. Miles of space and a completely flat floor. This was at the top of my wish list as I carry bales of straw, sacks ...

Amazing Astra
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
BUSSTOP
Advantages: Great Car
Disadvantages: Non
...can I say about the Vauxhall Astra estate? :
Wonderfull, fantastic a stunning little car with the build quality of a Volvo.
From the moment you get in and hear that sound of the solid door clunk as it closes you know you're in a good car.
This car has fantastic build quality for medium range family car everything on the car is built to last.
Comfort is good to as the seats are strong and comfortable and very adjustable.
I have the automatic version ...

Lots of space but you might lose face!
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
smallstar22
Advantages: Cheap to run, spacious
Disadvantages: Bonnett discolouration over time
...independently rather than purchasing from Vauxhall as they cost over £300 and are no better than others on market.
Of course, as has been said in other reviews, the Astra Estate is a practical vehicle and certainly wont help you set any trends. It doesn't tell anyone anything about your personality but if you don't much care about that and would rather have space for your family/dog/shopping then you can't go wrong with this car! Corner handling ...

What Build Quality?
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
BigCheese
Advantages: Good load capacity, reasonable ecconomy
Disadvantages: Variable Build Quality, a bit dull
...company policy am limited to Vauxhall cars. The last few have been 1.6 ls estates so I have had some experience in them. Its not that I particularly like these cars its just they are one of the cheaper options for tax purposes. There are some good features to these cars like good load carrying space, particularly with rear seats folded and the latest comes with air conditionning which I find better than a sun roof. However, the down side for me has ...

Get into the 'space' age with Astra Estate
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
aik4on
Advantages: Tons of space and hard-wearing
Disadvantages: Interior trim could do with a facelift
I've had one for a few months and I wouldn't be without it now.
Okay, it's no sporty head-turner that's going to help me pull but if you need plenty of space in the back you can't go for wrong with this. I've got a dog, and she travels in luxury thanks to the Astra. In fact, thanks to the capaciousness of the boot, she has more space than I do up front.
The other great benefit of this motor is that it is cheap to run and cheap to service, offering ...

Petrol or Diesel
Review of Vauxhall Astra LS 1.6i estate by
davidhansard
Advantages: Nippier around town
Disadvantages: Forever looking for petrol stations!
...no hesitation in chosing another Vauxhall estate.I'd had the Astra estate (diesel)for three years and while it's a great workhorse it lacked the nippiness for city centre driving,so this time I opted for the petrol version. The comfort level is good, the air conditioning a god send(now comes as standard)but the only down side I have found is the fuel consumption. With the diesel model I was averaging over 400 miles per tankfull, now with the petrol engine(a ...
