Vauxhall's Astra is SXi

Advantages: goodlooking, sexy, excellent ride ;-)
Disadvantages: common!

...so I went on the Vauxhall website and started to look at what they had to offer. ~ _The Sxi_ ~ I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to cars and engines etc and was a bit lost as to what spec I wanted and what kind of engine, so was only really bothered about how it looked (typical girl?) This is where the Astra SXi wins hands down; it's a pretty good looking car, the exterior spec as follows: ~ _Exterior_ ~ Dark-style headlights ...
...on the forecourt of the Vauxhall garage in Benson (Oxford), were all silver, but the Astra SXi came in the following colours: Solid: Flame Red Two-coat metallic: Star silver (the lightest of the silvers), Silver lightning and Prestige blue Two-coat pearlescent: Black ~ _Interior_ ~ Now the interior is nice, it matches with the exterior colour and styling and has been given a sportier look, here is the spec: - Twin internally adjustable door ...

My short review on the astra 1.6

Advantages: Smooth, slick and sexy.
Disadvantages: Reverse always clunks, fuel consumption, interior mirror falling off

Basically I wanted the 1.8 VVT, but the insurance for my age on a 1.8 VVT was 2200 (I am 18 years old) So i decided why not take a look at the 1.6 Sxi. So I ended up buying it , insurance costing me £1400. I didnt end up with the edsact car I wanted because I am not alowed factory fitted bodykits or small spoilers or my insurance would have been void with directline (Dont risk it, You crash they win) In all I am happy with the car, although its ...

ASTRA 1.6 16v SXI - EXCELLENT BUY!

Advantages: excellent handling and engine power, very reliable
Disadvantages: alternator quite expensive, suspension should be looked at at 40k

I bought mine in October 2005, its on a 'V' plate which is 1999. all i have had to get done on it was the exhaust which only set me back £80 which is very cheap compared to other cars in the same class i believe. the only serious cost i have had to incurr is a new alternator which was £180 but the car had done 65000 miles so thats not so bad. i bought mine second hand with 54000 miles on the clock for £3100 which was also from a dealership... the ...
...locking feature which makes you feel a bit more comfortable leaving it places overnight. as far as the performance goes... the 1.6 16v is a surprisingly powerful engine (101bhp i believe). the handling is also second to none with lotus tuned suspension, this gives the car the ability to hold the road better and gives the care a totally solid and rigid feel. the engine is also totally reliable and have never had any problems with it... it is also ...

Quick review of Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Hatchback

I bought mine 6 years ago - "52" 2002. I know I'll have to change her eventually, but what other car will give me all that she does at the cost? If you treat the SXI with respect, she'll run and run without missing a beat. Tyre wear is nothing - I did 35K before getting to the tread limit. Exhaust? No problems, it must be made of titanium. Interior- plenty of comfy room for a family of 4. The best buy I could have made. She owes me nothing. I just hope the new Insignia will be just as good. She will be sorely missed when I eventually (reluctantly) lose her. A great mid-range motor. Excellent Vauxhall support too. ...

Vauxhall Astra Mk 4 (G) 1.6 Sxi

Advantages: Performance, Handling, low Insurance, Looks, Cost
Disadvantages: Fairly Common Car

...go a miss (hint for vauxhall for the future), but apart from that my only criticism about the whole car is that the vauxhall Astra is an extremely popular car (probably because it is just SO MUCH VALUE FOR MONEY)! HOWEVER, if you get it in the 3 door version like mine, with Alloys (maybe the OPC bodykit which is obtainable from Vauxhall as its an oficial bodykit) it Certainly stands out from the crowd. There is even an Irmsher part availabe for ...
...some other makes of cars! So in all my overall opinion of this car is brilliant a definate must for anyone who wants a sporty car without coughing up for the insurance (even if you need a family car, get the 5 door version and your set)!!! I LOVE MY ASTRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...

Review of Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Hatchback

nice car

Advantages: reliable , practical. cheap to run . attractive
Disadvantages: none

I bought this from Vauxhall dealer 5 years ago and it has given me perfect reliabiliity and quality. Value for money was excellent and the package from the dealer also excellent . Free MOTS for life , good price servicing , cheap parts but most of all practicically no repairs required in 5 years. It is the longest I have owned a car and see no reason to change it yet . I have generally found Vauxhall to be good and the engines to be reliable & trustworthy ...

Very impressed

Advantages: Handles fantastically/looks great
Disadvantages: harsh gear change

Having purchased a 6 month old Astra Sxi in June last year I was excited. And having driven it for nearly 18 months I have to say that I'm very impressed! Mine is black and has the silve/chrome trim (3 door), it looks really nice and loads of people (especially females!) have said so! It's quick and very reliable, not one problem with it so far touch wood. The handling is so good compared to similar cars of its class. I drive all kinds of cars ...
...to say that the Astra is far better than the others. Also being a 3 door car you might think that the rear seat passengers might struggle for room, many of my friends are well over 6 foot and none of them have a problem! The interior is very sporty with sports seats and white dials. Only one gripe, the gear change is just so harsh! I'm an advanced driver (oh 'ark at me!) and I consider myself to be a good driver. And its not just my car that does ...

My Astra SXi

Advantages: Nice and roomy for a medium family car
Disadvantages: Very common

...what i really love about vauxhall and the astra most of all, they are really easy to fix. As i get my services done at the same time as my MOT's it only cost me about £150 all in so far for a full service. It didn't come with alot of features only a/c, front elect windows and front fog lights plus the normal sports seats and tape radio which was quickly replaced . This model only has the 1.6 16v engine fitted which gives out about 100 bhp as standard, ...
...start with but i have now fitted an after market filter and exhaust to it which has opened up the engine quite nicely. Fuel wise i can get about 350 miles out of a full tank with not too much of a lead right foot. But as i like to mod my cars this was a good base to start from. So it is fitted with a body kit, tinted windows, twin exit exhausts custom shelf with amp and 2 6x9 speakers. Pioneer sat nav and DVD player. If i was to go and buy another ...

Vauxhall Astra H 1.6 Sport Hatch

Advantages: Sporty looks, good road manners

...car is getting more common. Vauxhall can sell you a kit to make your car look like the fearsome VXR for any of the 3 door models. Cabin quality is excellent, with high quality soft touch plastics and solid switchs and buttons. It can feel a bit dark sometimes, maybe a should of gone for the panoramic windscreen. Good hold on the road through tight corners and enough grunt for most occasions. Only major downfall of this car is the poor rear visability ...

Vauxhall astra a great family car

Advantages: good family car, good drive which goes well
Disadvantages: gear change in the automatic

The vauxhall astra is a good size car for a family with 1 child. the boot size is big enough to fit a large pushchair plus any extra bags you may need, it also comes with isofix for the extra safety for the child seat. As a car it is a great drive, the only issue is with the automatic the gear change can be a little sluggish and you may need to manualy change gear when going up or down hill as it tends to stay in the same gear! on the motorway or ...

Astra SXI 1.6 Hatchback 2002 reg

Advantages: Sporty look, Speedo dials, fairly good accelaration
Disadvantages: Hndling on corners, rear judgement, centre door strips (tacky)

I have owned one of these for just over a year now and find it to be a quitr likable car. The alloys are fairly big, the seats are comfy, the performance is excellent if you push the revs to the limit. I do have a few issues with this car though, the handling on corners could be better, the accelaration should be good no matter how many revs you give and the ease in reverse parking without reversing that little bit too far, as the rear view mirror ...
...this car was the resale value, I bought it for £6100 just over a year ago and now the resale is approx £3500. This is abit disheartening. The car is very common which could explain the decrease in value, but overall is a good car. I have had no engine problems at all and have only suffered from the wear and tear of the heat sheild and the brake pads. Apart from that this car has been fabulous. I like this car so much, Im looking for the same car, ...
