Advantages Advantages Most Practical open Top Car. Very Clever Design. Well Built.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A Few Cheap Astra Parts. English Weather!

WHAT IS IT? This is Vauxhall's (or Opel's if you are reading this anywhere but in the UK) replacement for both the Astra Coupe and Convertible - hence the clever title "Twintop" - two cars in one, or so they would have you believe. It is a two plus two, (the rear seats are just big enough for two average sized adults) folding, metal roofed convertible. Top up it is a snug and attractive coupe, top down it is a svelte looking convertible. The roof folds in three pieces as it gracefully, and quietly, glides into the boot. Yes, that does mean that with a boot full of luggage you are unable to ... more

Advantages Advantages Hard top and soft top in one!

Disadvantages Disadvantages 1.6 has little power

I currently own one of these car and thought i'd add my 2 cent as a small review. I bought an Astra TwinTop 1.6 Sport in July 2007, so have a slightly different view from the other (superb) review on this car. When I first drove this car i was amazed how it felt like a normal car, if you didnt know it was a convertible you wouldn't guess from inside. I was lucky to be able to try the roof down when i bought it, so of course straight away tried the fold up design. I actually tried this while driving, and had no problems at all with it, the manual says to keep under 20mph when operating the roof ... more

Advantages Advantages Good Motor, great value for money

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Non Really

Vauxhall Astra Twintop I have just got this motor and when looking around the showrooms at all the difrent twin tops without paying a huge amount this is by far the best, as it is modern and looks unique. i am over 6 foot so legroom in the bag was a bit of a problem but with this ther is loads of leg and height room in this compared to many others i looked ati have gone fotr the 1.6 sport as it is the best value for money without paying too much and looks better having "Sport" down the side rather than "Air"as my first car not bad and runs like a treat and has very good fuel consumption levels ... more

Advantages Advantages Very comfortable to drive, looks great

Disadvantages Disadvantages fuel economy ver low, cost of parts was very high

Before I got my Mazda6 I had the pleasure of driving a 1.8 Astra Twintop. I have to say the loveliest thing about this car is those summer afternoons when you drop the roof and relish the sun. The interior was basic, but it had a lot of features as standard, such as heated seats and full aircon, electric seat adjustment and best of all it had space at the back to fit another human being. The boot was great aswell. There was literally enough space to lay down, but other than that it would quite happily take a full bed and matress from Ikea. I liked the fact that you felt safe when drining it ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Looks & good features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Unreliability of roof

I bought mine twintop when it was only 2 years old & I was initially quite pleased with it, as it's fun to drive a convertible. However, I soon started to have problems with the roof operation in that it kept getting stuck. I also heard from a friend that her neighbour had the same problem & her car was one year younger than mine!! I like some of the features: 1. when low on petrol, the display tells you how many miles you can do before it runs out of petrol. 2. The dashboard is very nice looking. 3. Cd & radio controls are on the steering wheel as well. 4. When the roof is down, you can press ... more
