Advantages Advantages Not much electric stuff to go wrong, spacious and comfy, cruises well at high speeds

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sluggish acceleration

I recently bought a new car! Well it’s 4 years used, but it’s the newest car I’ve ever owned! It’s a 1.6 16v 5 door hatchback Vauxhall Vectra and very nice to drive. I’ve had an Astra before and my husband had a Cavalier years ago. The Vectra is based on the old Cavalier, but I don’t see the resemblance to my husband old car. Mind you, there must be at least 15 years difference between their manufacture dates! So not surprising really. The only thing that I remember is the same is the knob to turn the headlights on. So on to the features. This is pretty much ... more

Advantages Advantages It has 4 doors and a reasonable sized boot

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slow sluggish and all electrics seam to go one after the other

Was this car really worth me buying is the question I ask myself now a year down the line. Previous to my Vectra I had owned a Subaru Impreza 2.0L Turbo but sadly I got one to many kids to fit in my nice fast & furious sports car so the plan was to buy something cheap with FAMILY in mind . I came across my Vectra Through a friend who is a mechanic and knows his stuff he checked it over and although it had high miles it was perfect or so I though. The car itself to start with was good it has electric windows in the front and manual in the back an electric sunroof and mirrors, ABS, Airbag in the ... more

When it's hot - sticky and you've got the windows wide open - a wind is howling at you - but it's a boiling hot wind - you may regret - in the summer time especially, that you didn't get a Car with Air Con - this car doesn't have it - and so, you'll regret = I am sure. However - as a CHEAP family car - it does the trick - I prfer the Omega - but this is a good size - fairly comfortable and has a lot of space - If you don't want to be sweating buckets - then get an Air/Con car. But it's a good price - and it's very popular - so it's easy to buy.. ... more

    3 Stars OK, I guess. 20/09/2000

The 1.6i 16 v ls model may well be the bottom of the range Vectra - but it does have Air Con - a must have for those hot Winter and Summer and Spring days. I think that this car is OK, but is Underpowered - get a 2.0 litre + if you want performance - but this is a good Family car. When Vauxhall Unveiled it's vectra back when N reg cars were around - about 1994 - the public were not amazed by it's design - it was dull, uninspiring - and Did resemble the highly popular Cavalier - but carried a different name - the public didn't like this. The Range has had a recent facliftn and Update in general ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap insurance and economical.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not very comfortable when on a bumby road.

We have a vauxhall Vectra 1.6 engine, P reg, great for value for a familly car. The comes with electric windows and original alloy wheels. No major problems at all since we the bought the car (touch wood.) Vauxhall servicing costs a bit high. Very quick for eingine and size of car. Handles without any hassle. Beats a lot of cars at the traffic lights. Quiet and refined, cruises without no problem and especially good on the motorway. Very comfortable and good equipment with value. Plenty of room, even in the back and also comes with an air condition. Very nice styling. Quite economical car ... more

Again - but this is not the automatic. It's the same 'old' story of the Dull Vauxhall Vectra - another in the long line of Dull looking and driving cars. I say 'old' because NOW Vauxhall have started to change things - The Astra has kicked started a revolution in GM cars - just take a look at the VX 220! or the New Corsa - all these cars Look so much more innovative and fresh. The current Vectra is a good car - it isn't all bad - don't judge a book by it's cover they say - but the vectra ain't all that really. Safe and Spacious - a family car. ... more

A fair car - the most basic Vauxhall Vectra on the road - cheap aswell - but again - it has no aircon - this may or may not be a problem for you, But for me - I have to be in a car with air con in the summertime. The Range has had a recent faclift and Update in general - making a once dull to look at car - a bit more accepable - Fresh looks and Styles - The newer Vectras are also Very cheap and very much better than the old version. Vauxhall's Flag ship vehicle is no class leader - but the newe model arriving in 2001 looks very much more promising. ... more

The Automatic basic Vectra is OK, it's a brilliant family car - very reasonable and safe - but the fact remains that it's a Vectra - despite it's recent Facelift - this model in particular hasn't got much better. Sorry, but... When Vauxhall Unveiled it's vectra back when N reg cars were around - about 1994 - the public were not amazed by it's design - it was dull, uninspiring - and Did resemble the highly popular Cavalier - but carried a different name - the public didn't like this. It's OK though ... more

This is one of the most featureless cars on the road - it has the street and road presence of a stuffed olive - it really doesn't excell in much at all - and Vauxhall Know it - let's hope when the new Model arrives it delivers much much more than Vauxhalls current attempt - the car isn't THAT bad - but it is NO class leader - in fact It is toward the bottom end of the league. Would I recommend this car to you? What do you think... Perhaps - go for an Astra - or AN Omega - perhaps even the New VCorsa - It really is much better than b4. ... more
