Ideally suited for a young family

Advantages: Flexibility
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable 2nd & 3rd Row Seats

...an Astra estate means that Vauxhall have made all the seat positions vertical. The 2nd row bench suffers from this affliction and is uncomfortable for adults. On a same day return trip from Kent to Manchester my brother was experiencing a lot of discomfort. The Zafira is also a relatively narrow car and 3 adults will become familiar. I also had the spare wheel stolen (the Zafira shares the same wheels as the Astra, thus creating a large market for ...
...reviewers have said - a big screwdriver to bend the U bracket is sufficient. The only faults I've had are the front mudflaps rubbing the front wing back to primer, a buzzing sound from the load cover and the engine emissions warning light illuminating. "They all do that Sir" was the response. Servicing is cheap at £112 for the 10k service, I still have 3mm of tread on the front tyres at 25k and I'm still waiting for the service indicator to light ...

Fantastic, versatile vehicle

Advantages: seperates the kids, stops the fighting
Disadvantages: luggage space when all seats in use

Mother of 3 wonderfully energetic children (or little hellers as we like to call them). We have always had family saloons upto now, but the kids are growing and practically sitting on each others laps, so we decided to do the sensible thing and buy a Zafira. What a good decision if I do say so myself. There is ample leg room for all in this lovely car and good head height. When you have a husband like mine at 6'7" this comes in handy. He is able ...
...his stomach. The seats in the rear are only child size seats, so not suitable for an adult on a long journey, (but if it is getting your friends home from the pub on a Friday night I am sure they will still be grateful of the ride). The only fault I have with this vehicle is the lack of luggage space when the rear seats are up. You can fit a few shopping bags in the back but when you lift the boot they have a tendancy to fall out all over the floor. ...

Vauxhall folds time and space.

Advantages: Versatile, well equipped and well built.

...one. Built on the Vauxhall Astra platform, the Zafira makes the most of this fairly short wheel base in two ways. Firstly, the bodywork is pushed out firmly to all four corners so no space is wasted on stylish curves (see Citroen Picasso). Secondly, Vauxhall invented the Flex7 seating system, which is very flexible and extremely easy to live with - and fundamentally the secret to the Zafira's success. Basically, you have two standard front seats, ...
...The interior is standard Vauxhall black plastic but we ordered black seats with red insert panels which looks better than it sounds, brightens the cabin up immensely, and the best bit is that even after six months of carting the tribe around, it has worn very well with scarcely a mark on it. Airconditioning, electric front windows, electric wing mirrors and CD player with controls on the steering wheel take care of the creature comforts. Remote ...

...neighbours). Unfortunately it took the Vauxhall garage, three diagnostic tests to find the fault. In the meantime they first advised me it was the change in temperature. Then it was a fault in the rear heated window. The rear window was replaced (over £200 via our windscreen insurance) The problem continued and was finally put down to the heating element in the side, rear window. That was replaced, and after much negotiating and pointing out that ...
...I wasn't charged. Incidentally Vauxhall would have charged me over £400 to have the rear window replaced! Next the idling control went wrong. Vauxhall 's charge was £50 for the test plus around £400 to have the problem sorted out. A local garage did it all for around £300 instead (and weren't patronising, but that might be due to the beard and hat I wore!!). The final straw was when the car cut out and gently costed to a gentle halt with black smoke ...

GOOD VALUE & SPACIOUS

Advantages: Interior space, flexibility
Disadvantages: Utilitarian styling, small boot 7 up

I bought this car after months of research and test drives of various MPVs. It handles well for such a high vehicle and has a nippy willing engine. Interior space is excellent, loads of legroom for the kids in the back and a huge boot if the rear-most seats are folded into the floor. With the 7 seats in use, luggage space is restricted, but the benefit of having those 2 extra seats there all the time is priceless. General spec is adequate, air-con ...
...and well-built. It feels solid and is designed to stand up to boisterious kids. Fuel consumption is fine for this size vehicle, considering the weight it can carry. I have done 2500 miles so far and have got low 30s around town and high 30s on long main road trips, both figures include some use of air-con. Sitting high up with a good all-round view makes it easy to park and manoeuvre, the square shape helps. It is only 2 inches longer than an Astra ...

...I really like the Vauxhall brand, so it came as no suprise to people around me when I opted for a Vauxhall Zafira for my family car. I loved the styling and more to the point the roomy interior of a car that from the outside doesn't look as overbearingly huge as some of the other MPV's (Multi Purpose Vechicles) that are around. I have 3 children, so a roomy interior, with good seating and good boot space is a major priority for our household. Thats ...
...anyone who has driven a Vauxhall before, or not will find the dash board easy to navigate. No over the top or hidden, knobs and switches to be found. Might be too plain though for the regular gadget geek :) Not everything is great with the Vauxhall Zafira though! There are plenty of problems abound. The biggest question has to be engine reliablity. Unless your car is regularly serviced, a lovely little spanner stays lit all the time, and the word ...

Great for flexibility of seating

Advantages: Space
Disadvantages: Fuel consumption

I bought this car in July as an import and have been very happy so far. The major advantage is the seating. Being able to go out with the kids and their grandparents, all in one car rather than in convoy, is brilliant. The interior is also quite spacious. I've even sat in the extra seats at the back a few times and found it fine for short journeys. The boot space with the extra seats stowed is great, better than the Vectra I used to have. As for ...
...another reviewer. The windscreen does mist up a bit too easily and takes a while to demist, but the air con helps. Mileage is lower than I expected, but that may be down to it being my first automatic car and I'm still getting used to it. The average I get is about 33 mpg, but this can get up to near 40 mpg on pure motorway driving. Would I recommend this car ? Yes, if you need the extra seating and you're not too worried about fuel consumption. ...

Advantages: good seating, lots of space

We purchased a Zafira in June 1999, it seemed to be the ideal car for our family. The extra seats were a delight when chauffeuring the children and their friends around. Also I am self employed and need a lot of space to carry work items in. for the first few months everything was fine, no major problems, little niggles with the de-mister in humid conditions. We had to travel 250 miles periodically using the A/C to clear the windscreen. Then we ...

Off I went again, things have been fine for a few months, but at the week-end it started to happen again. The revs drop so low that the ...

Advantages: Easy steering, lovely action, everything to hand, nets and storage space good, versatile seating.
Disadvantages: Lack of storage space when all seats being used, rear lights keep blowing.

We had to purchase a new vehicle very quickly as we only own one and our previous vehicle caught fire - we only had two free weeks use of our insurance company's car. The Zafira was an easy winner. It is very light to handle and the steering action is lovely. I have a family so versatility of space was a necessity. We have carried all sorts of sports equipment in the back - some large. We have used it for changing after sports events as well as changing ...

Another advantage of the Zafira, for someone not very technically minded like me, is that the alterations to the seating/storage are very straight forward to do and do not take much strength either. The children love having their own nets and large door storage ...

Again I should thank vauxhall for providing traction control as standard as the impact pushed the car parially off the road with the two nearside wheels on the grass verge while the two offside wheels were on the road - and I still stopped in control. I could get it cheaper but there are benefits from getting it service at main dealers - see how quickly vauxhall ...

Zafiria Club 1.8i Auto

Advantages: A seven seater for the price of a five, Height you are above traffic
Disadvantages: Suspension and seats a little hard

A big little car which gives a lot of car for your money, this car comfortably seats seven adults. The suspension is quite hard but softening this would effect road holding which is excellent. The auto box is well matched to the engine and lively, gear change is smooth, service interval of 15000 miles or one year makes running costs cheaper. The flex seven seating arrangement gives an effective variation of seating. All seven seats in the 03 model ...
