ViaMichelin X-950 T Europe

I purchased this system after spending a long time reviewing all on the market place. I had a budget from 245 to 600 pounds and needed one that would be quality for Europe as well as UK. The most important things for me were as many countries as possible with 99.9% coverage, easy to use, street level addresses access and even more important to that was traffic update with out the heavy subscription charges. ...latest downloads of speed cameras etc... The 5 digist post code I was concerned about for the UK but its actually very good and makes it quicker than other system that ask for 8! The accuracy in Europe has been great already, two trips since I purchased it and both very well done, to remote locations that I have struggled with other systems on. Ordered this through QVC to get extra mounts/power leads. item arrived well presented and ready to go. Set up was a pure breeze compared to TomTom. Then it goes downhill....... All POIs in Aberdeenshire are given as being in Braemar. Not a problem if you are in Braemar but a disadvantage if you are over 70 miles away! My Mothers address in Irvine, Ayrshire is shown as being in Dunoon - an Island a considerable distance away! Michelin say this is ...
...updated free of charge at next upgrade. I am cynical as software reads the map info. If it is a map problem Michelin will charge to update. Currently not fit for purpose, I think? Unlike TomTom you cannot go into "map" mode. You always have to have a route planned to get POI warnings. It would be better to be able to use safety camera warnings on "cruise". Suggested routing for my normal home route was innacurate and longer by about 4 miles - only ...

The hardest part of this nav system is getting it installed on your cp/notebook once you `ve done that get your upgrade map from viamichelin web site and take a little time to read the instruction booklet and set it up you can setup on cp/nb and update satnav and away you go if you are prepared to take the time its well worth the money and the speed camra warnig is excellent ...
