Smart step?

Advantages: Good for if you use your phone lots
Disadvantages: Made a bit redundant by text packs

Vodafone Smartstep is one of two Pay as You Go price plans available to Vodafone users. The main costs of interest are: Calls to land-line/other Vodafone - 30p per min for the first 3 mins each day; 5p per min after that. Calls to other mobile networks - 35p per min Text messages (SMS) - 12p for the first 3 texts each day; 9p after that. This was the price plan that I was on initially, and it seems very good if you make a lot, or long phone ...
...HOWEVER, I then discovered text packs. These are add-ons that you can but for Pay as You Go phones. A £5 text pack gets you 4 free texts per day. This works out at about 17p a day - if you only send 2 texts you are making a saving already. If you are text message mad, then you can get a £10 pack which gets you 10 free texts a day. Because I now use text packs, I have moved onto the Smart Plus tariff, which has low off-peak call rates. So I would ...

Good value

Advantages: Good value if you make lots of outgoing calls / SMS Messages, good network reception
Disadvantages: expensive international calls, They sponsor Manchester United + Ferrari F1 team

...think this is also true for the rest of the country. The only real cause for complaint I have about Vodafone is they sponsor 2 of the things that makes my life a misery........ ******* Manchester United + Michael Schumacher's Formula1 car (can you tell I don't support them?). ...

Very Dependable

Advantages: Great Reception Staff that want to help with your problems
Disadvantages: I dont know how the costs compare

I have been with Vodafone now for 2 years, before that I was with Orange for 6 months, and Vodafone for a year before that. The reason I switched networks was because i was given the Orange sim card by my uncle along with a new phone. My experiance with Vodafone has been great, I have been able to recieve messages and calls at the top of a mountain, in Betws y Cohed (i think that is how to spell it) None of my friends had any signal at the top or ...
...When I switched back to Vodafone I had to choose a password and a code incase any problems did occur. "Touch wood" I havn't had any so far. In my view Vodafone is the best network but many people think different. I would advise you go with Vodafone and then make up your own mind. ...

Vodafone Pay As You Talk>>Ideal for text-aholics!

Advantages: Text Packs
Disadvantages: Call costs

After many years as an orange customer i switched to Vodafone, not for any reason other than it was the network which my new phone was on. I found it quite expensive to text and call at first, with texts costing 12p each for the first 3 in any one day and then 9p each after the first 3 in that same day. But once i found they had introduced the '30 day packs' my texts became a bargain. For only £10 i could have 12 texts per day, thats a total of ...
...texts you can buy a £5 text pack which gives you 4 texts per day for 30 days. The call charges, I found quite expensive. I often call people for between 2 and 3 minutes. This used to cost quite a large amount. The price plan would work out cheap if you talk on the telephone alot, but as i didnt i find it expensive, and therefore stick to texts! ...

Save £19.95 per call!

Advantages: Loads of free mins and texts if used properly
Disadvantages: Cross network calls still expensive

Being a vodafone customer for the last 6 years I was amazed to discover that if you use your phone a lot you can actually be better off on pay as you talk!!!! If you add Vodafone stop the clock (which is free by the way) and free weekend calls and texts (also free) you can end up saving stupid amounts of money. I'm one of those people that talks a lot! I can have phonecalls that last an hour or more and since being on Stop the clock I have saved ...
...There's also a thing on vodafone where you can get free weekend calls and texts if you spend £5 between monday and friday - good if you actually do spend that much, but don't be tricked into spending more than you normally would in order to get the free stuff. Vodafone seems to have a pretty good network coverage too, I've been a few places where it doesn't pick up signal but not many. ...
