Advantages: Helpful, quick Disadvantages: None that I know
...long ago I bought another Volkswagen Bora. Included in the sale was a years free service / warranty and 1 year with Volkswagen Emergency assistance.
At the time I was not to bothered about the Emergency Assistance as I was already a member of the AA.
Not caring I paid up, took the car and went home.
About 6 months later I made the drive to my parents house. On returning I noticed a petrol / oil mark in the drive. Shortly after I also noticed that ... ...40 mile journey.
On closer inspection I found that the fuel filter had sprung a leak. Ahhhhh, and was still leaking on the drive.
I decided to phone the AA but then remembered I had cancelled my Home start as I thought it was to expensive. I then remembered that little silver VW Emergency card. IN 2004 I BOUGHT A £22'000 VW T4 TRANSPORTER FROM CARLAND IN ENFIELD, NORTH LONDON. I HAD LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I TRAVELLED FROM ENFIELD TO BRISTOL AND BACK AGAIN ON A FULL TANK. IT DRANK THE WHOLE LOT. VW ASSISTANCE WAS ON HAND TO HELP ME OUT ON EVERY OCCASSION AND RECOVERED THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ORGANISED A COURTESY CAR. I COULD NOT FAULT THE SERVICE I GOT. Advantages: Highly skilled, dedicated to VW. Excellent service! Disadvantages: none!
I purchased a VW Golf in 2002. At the time, I was not aware that it came with the "VW Assistance", VW's very own AA type service. Anyway on a long journey, one of the warning lights came on so I reached for the manual! From the manual, I discovered I could call VW assistance. Within the hour, a dedicated VW technician arrived, and within 1minute diagnosed the problem. Being dedicated to VW, he had seen the problem before so diagnosis did not take ... ...spare part and within 5 minutes I was on my way!
The second time, another warning light appeared (the boot light), and the alarm would start ringing intermittently. I called VW assistance again, and yet again withint the hour a technician arrived who diagnosed the problem without removing the casing, apparently another common fault on my type of car..
