Advantages: Exceeded my every expectation Disadvantages: Unable to think of one!!
...chose to telephone my local Volkswagen approved repairer.
I bought the car from them and have used their service department so this was a natural decision for me.
The call was handled very promptly and professionally. I was advised that I would not need an appointment for an estimate and was asked when would suit me best. They took my details and those of my car and gave me directions as the bodyshop is not on the same site as the main showroom.
... ...anyone with or without a Volkswagen group car as they repair any make. (They were restoring an old MG alongside the many Audi's and Volkswagens)
What particularly appealed was the effortlessness as they took care of everything for me and were prepared to spare me the time I wanted, when I wanted it.
What more could I have asked for? ...

Advantages: Good facilities but seriously that is it Disadvantages: Everything else from the servicing to the staff
...that shouldn’t happen on a Volkswagen – and so he asked the dealership to place an order and get back to him. 3 weeks later and no one had got back – not that surprising! But when my Dad phoned up, they told him no order had even been made. Outrageous after 3 weeks. After being blasted by my Dad they did their job right this time…
OVERALL *
Just a measly one star rating then for this dealership. Lots of money has been spent ... ...attention needs to be taken over the staff and efficiency of the servicing. The annual JD Power survey ironically said that the VW dealerships are the worst in Britain. If I say my Dad is taking purchase of a new VW next year you may say I’m a hypocrite, but the car is just so good. However, we will be checking other dealers first…
Thanks for reading and once again MERRY XMAS…

Advantages: large range, polite sales staff Disadvantages: parking is terrible
I recently purchased a Shiney new Beetle with my saved up pocket money, and ventured deep into the depths of the murky swamp land known as the car sales battle field. First Impressions :
In a very hard to find area of Leeds. It looks like it's easy to get to, if you're heading out of the city onto the M621, but coming the other way, its a veritable spaghetti junction. Approaching the dealership (Vantage Volkswagon) you have got Audi on your left, ... ...Audi and VW are competing for space down this little side street, and it is very hard to park your vehicle - Unless you just dump it, and hope that you're not blocking any one in - such as i did. LEAD BY EXAMPLE!!
The Showroom :
Very clean, very spacious, and very light. As you walk in, the display models are situated playfully, to greet you on your approach. No signs of sticky finger marks on the glass of any of the models on display, and all ...

Advantages: good range of cars Disadvantages: after sales care is terrible
I have been buying VW for the last 5 years, the cars have NEVER been the problem. The VW dealer that I have been using/used, has been unsatisfactory on four/five occassions.
I buy nearly new cars so to keep the full service history for the first 2/3 years of the car's history I take them to VW dealers to be serviced and maintained. The service that I have received has been poor on all occassions, the car has not been returned at the negiotated time ... ...my satisfaction, the term fixed price servicing seems not to exist... three different occassions I phoned and was quoted three different prices for the same service.
On receipt of my car back from the last service, I queried the price and they knocked off £40, after tacking the car to another garage for new tyres there was a problem with the brakes that the VW garage should of pointed out...
Overall the after sales care is terrible... the only ...

Advantages: Cars are well built, generally reliable, and have a good image Disadvantages: After sales service is often appalling
My partner has had a Volkswagen Passat for 2 1/2 years. The car's been great - it's done 75000 miles and only had two faults. Trouble is, the local dealers took six months to fix one fault, and failed to fix the other at all after a year of trying! The Petrol flap release siezed soon after we got the car, and the local dealer took 3 months to get a replacement part. One of the steering arm bushes started grinding at around 40000 miles, and the car ... ...could find nothing wrong (as I have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge, we told them exactly what the problem was before they saw the car). The second time, they agreed with my diagnosis, but couldn't get the part for several months. The third time, after the part had arrived, it transpired they'd ordered the wrong one! The car was then taken to an independent specialist who repaired it in half a day, and handed the car back fully valeted (VW usually ...

Advantages: Excellent customer care Disadvantages: No petrol!
I have now purchased 4 Volkswagens in the last five years and have purchased them all from a variety of VW dealerships.
My last car was purchased in October of this year from Massingberd in Harrogate. Prior to visiting this dealership I had visited several other VW dealers in the area (including the one my previous vehicle has been purchased from) and found Massingberd to be far and away the best garage in terms of customer care and service.
When ... ...me or my old car and also the reduced price off my new car was excellent and a much better deal than any other dealership. They also threw a free leather bound map book in.
Dealership:
The dealership is a new building which is light and airy and automatically makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in. They always have a receptionist there who ensures that a sales person or service technician helps you as soon as they are available. They have ...

Advantages: Well built cars Disadvantages: After sales service
This opinion is based on my experience with two main VW dealers over a period of 9 years and 3 VW Golf's
My first VW was a mark 3, 1.4e Golf. I traded in my Ford XR2 for this car. The dealer was DC Cooks (a South Yorkshire company with lots of differenet dealerships). I drove it out of the dealership with pride and the car lived up to the adverts about German build quality.
After about 2 months of problem free motoring, I received a letter from ... ...they had something important to tell me. I got straight onto the telephone and spoke the the reception. They said that it would be in my interest to come into the garage. The first thing I thought was, have the Golf's been recalled for a problem. So I went into the garage to spreak to the car salesman that sold me the car. I could not believe what I was told. The salesman went straight into a sales pitch, yes that's right, my car was only 2 months ...

Advantages: Brilliant cars, very helpful head office. Disadvantages: Aftersales and servicing leaves a lot to be desired.
I am on my second VW and absolutely love the cars. The quality is brilliant and I love driving them. I have had very few problems with my cars, however, I have found the service I have received from the actual dealerships to be very poor.
Firstly, my normal dealer seemed unwilling to arrange for me to test drive the car I was interested in, and actually told me I would have to put down a deposit of £500 for them to order one in for me to drive, ... ...be refunded! There seems little point in that! In the end I telephoned VW UK who put me in touch with a garage who DID have a demonstrator for the car I was interested in and I bought the car through them.
However, I have to return to the other garage for servicing and aftersales as it is my nearest branch. I have had problems ranging from an oil service not being done when it should have been, to being sent away with faulty brake lights, having ...

Let me tell you about Layerthorpe Ltd, Centurion Way, York.
I took my car there to be serviced. When i handed it in, there were two broken bulbs. When i got it back, there were still two broken bulbs but importantly, the checklist they handed me said the bulbs were working.
I arrived to pick up my car abit early. I was wondering why they took 35 minutes to clean my car. Driving home, it started to rain. My windscreen went almost opaque. I telephoned ... ...be the lime" they told me. Thirty cars had been covered in Lime which had blown from a nearby building site. Please bring your car in and we will clean it off for you, they told me. Pity they didn't tell me this before I left, I suppose they were worried that I would hold on to the courtesey car.
I wrote to the director of the company who, when i was there waiting, i noticed that she was very relaxed wandering around with a coffee cup for the entire ...

...feel they are misrepresenting the volkswagen group as a whole by telling me the old story that ^all our used cars have a thourough inspection against any defects before being sold^..... yes they inspect, but only to see how much money they can make out of you at the first service.
I also have a transporter VW van. My discs on the van were replaced earlier in the year by the same garage who told me they definately need replacing, i paid over 300 ... ...discs looked brand new compared to the ones on my Golf.
So in thier own eyes, they are admitting they need replacing, but they are saying I have to Pay??
I dont think so
Luckily i found this problem before my 1 month no quibble warranty is up, they are due to call me on monday to discuss further after i told them to either replace the discs and pads or they can have the car back.
My advise....
Dont use this garage, they are sneaky, dishonest, ...

Advantages: Good deal on car Disadvantages: Poor after service, don't call customers back, don't seem to care or communicate
We recently bought a car from Lookers in Burnley for my girlfriend. Doing the deal with them was great but as soon as we had signed on the dotted service went downhill from there - this company NEVER call you back and I have complained about poor service to several different managers who seem not to care. There were several easily fixable things wrong with the car on collection, no tax as promised, no service log, and the company applied for finance ...

...it all still stands.
Volkswagen car dealership in Grimsby has left me very unhappy. I bought my automatic polo from them for £3995. Its W reg, and considering the lack of autos about, and the fact it had only done 55,000 miles, I thought the price wasn't bad. It came with 12 months tax and 10 months MOT, as the MOT had just been done a month and a bit ago.
All in all I was pleased. I had no problems with the car and didn't need to return. That ... ...a horrific condition, but the Volkswagen team. I arranged to have it booked in for several weeks later so they would have ordered parts ready to fix my little car. It was booked in for the day, but at the end of the day I received a phone call asking if it could be kept a further day. As I was on holiday this was not a problem and they promised me it would be ready by lunchtime the next day.
When I turned up to pay the bill and collect it, they ...

...some things very well, and Volkswagen is one of those, these cars are as solid as tanks, feel cery safe, are reasonably priced and look good and the name speaks for itself - Peoplescar!
I drive a Golf IV, and have never had a problem with it, now I know that some volkswagen drivers must have problems so then we turn to the VW gargaes and services that they offer.

I bought the car in Jersey at the Five Oaks dealership where the staff were freindly. not pushy on their sales and offer a good after service, although sometimes can take long or be too laid back to fix and order parts, that may be down to the fact they are the only dealership on the island and I wonder how much ...

Advantages: Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Very busy - Booking two weeks.
I have just had my wifes car in to the VW garage for the first service.
I must say that the staff at Lookers in Burnley really know how to look after there customers. My wife booked the car in over the phone and straight away they had all our details in front of them. My wife needed a car to get to work so they supplied a brand new courtesey car at no extra charge. The car my wife runs is just 12 months old now and has only done 6000 miles. There ... ...the dash lighting up saying that the boot was open, when really it was shut, they sorted that out straight away. The car was really dirty when my wife took it to the garage, but when she went to collect the car they had cleaned it inside and out. From the moment we purchased the car to the after sales I have felt that Lookers VW have looked after me and my family and I will continue to use the garage for the near future. ...
