Fabulous all round car

Advantages: Punchy, characterful engine, refinement, comfort, build quality, equipment, value for money
Disadvantages: Poor turning circle, poor rear legroom, numb steering

...this is a Volvo, and Volvo build quality is legendary with tales of 350,000 mile cars still running fine, and the Volvo owners club having several 500,000 milers still registered as running. Whilst I can't vouch for that, I can say that the S60 shrugs off 120,000 miles like most cars shrug off half that. I have never driven a car with mileage like this that feels so new. Lacks the dynamic talent of a BMW, but is comfortably a match for an Audi A4, matches both for quality of finish and durability, and beats them both for performance and comfort (model for model), and all for a fraction of the cost. The car hasn't had any faults since i purchased it except the ocasional bulb failure (as i understand, a common thing with volvo's). The gear changes are smooth and engine quiet and reserved. I have to say the power from the 2.0l engine isn't amazing and i'm sure the 2.4 owners will have a better acceleration (although bigger petrol prices). The ...
...well MPG wise with city driving. The boot space is quite big although being a saloon it has hard to access the full space with limited entry width. With volvo's safety record insurance shouldn't be a big problem and the car comes with several airbas and impact protection bars. On the whole a "nice" family car although nothing special. If petrol prices isn't a problem then definately go for the bigger engined models which also have more chance ...
