Every time that I would get my digital camera out over the past few months my 3year old little boy would be straight by my side showing a keen interest in helping his mummy take photographs. Unfortunately my digital SLR is not a toy and is a little too expensive to let a 3year old loose with and after a near mis-hap at christmas it was decided that I would look around for a digital camera designed specifically for children, one that can withstand the heavy hands of my 3year old son and the likely hood of being dropped by him. I decided to look around online and started to compare camera ... more

My daughter has been asking for a camera for a long time, but the main problem that made me cautious about buying one is that she doesn't have a very good track record when it comes to looking after her toys - always dropping them, leaving them on the floor to be stood on, or forgetting to bring them in for outside. When I saw an advert on TV featuring this Kidizoom camera being chucked about by a toddler, I decided that perhaps this might be good for my daughter. It came in one of those annoying plastic packets that require scissors to open, and along with the camera, there was also a disk to ... more

"Say Cheese Mummy" is the words I hear more often than not these days since buying my daughter the Vtech kiddizoom plus camera. Available in blue, pink and other limited edition designs, the camera is designed for children ages three and over. *Look and design* We have the pink version of this camera, and it's very much aimed for girls, with flowery designs and patterns dotted over the casing. The camera appears sturdy and isn't too heavy for small hands, but has rubber casing around the base area where the camera is held. This also helps should the camera be dropped as I have found out. 4 Stars Getting Your Kid Into Digital Cameras Review with images 21/12/2008

Advantages Advantages Features Like Any Regular Digital Camera

Disadvantages Disadvantages 16 MB Internal Memory and No Zoom Capabilities

No digital camera review on CIAO would be complete without a few entries about cameras designed for kids. After all, kids are almost universally enthusiastic about taking pictures. And parents with a love of photography often pass down their passion to their children. But digital cameras are not always kid-friendly, due to fragile construction, price, or complicated menus and buttons. The newest trend in children's electronics is a group of digital cameras made especially for small children. These cameras are easy to hold, come in bright colors that kids love, and have many of the same ... more

Advantages Advantages easy to use and durable

Disadvantages Disadvantages screen size could be bigger

This was bought for my 3 year old son who always wanted to use our camera, which we were afraid that he was going to drop one day. So, this seemed like the ideal solution. The only down side was the price, which costs around £35-£40. I really wanted to buy him a cheap one from Argos or Tesco for less than £20, with a bigger screen size. However, I knew that being used by a child, it would be dropped and very soon broken. So, begrudgingly, I bought it because of it's durability. I was pleasantly suprised. It is chunky and thus easy for little fingers to hold. The sides are rubberised and I ... more

I got this for my daughter as her 'big' christmas present and personally i think its done its job. She has just turned three and was into my digital camera big time as anyone with a toddler would understand. I have found this brilliant, it runs on basic AA batteries so it doesnt burn a hole in a tight budget for continuous use, Its been dropped a few times and abused by her younger brother being only 1 not really understanding the meaning of 'looking after' things yet still works perfectly. The cameras basic memory is good, i dont actually know how many pictures it can store by itself but she ... more

Advantages Advantages Good for hand eye co ordination, inspires imagination.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not great in a dimly lit room.

I bought this camera as a gift for my 5 year old daughter this Chrsitmas and I must say this was a very good investment. The Camera itself is very easy to use just point and click, either look through the 2 eye viewers or look at the 1.8" colour LCD screen there is no need for the child to try and close just on eye (if you know kids, you'll know this is something they struggle with) The camera can also use a flash although to be honest it isn't brilliant in dim places, that said the pictures this camera produces are of a good quality when used in a bright area , the camera can also take video ... more

Kidizoom Multimedia Digital Camera. The product is strong and robust and will not break if you drop it. This is an amazing product that has all the attributes that the vtech name usually brings with it. My son got this for his 4th birthday and a year later is still one of his favourites. It has many features including: - A very handy wrist strap - Easy to use controls and viewfinder - A flash which always amazes my 18 month old - Colour LCD Screen - Built in Games like pairs and tic tac toe. - Cable to link to the tv so they can see the produce of their hard work - An SD card slot so you can ... more

Advantages Advantages durable, great camera, attractive, colourful, lots of features

Disadvantages Disadvantages price was a bit steep at time of purchase

I bought this camera Christmas 2010 for my 3 year old who was always taking pictures on our camera phones. I paid £50.00 from Argos but I have seen them recently for as little as £20. The camera is encased in very durable plastic and rubber, and it has taken quite a few knocks (including being thrown down the stairs by my youngest) and it is still in full working order. It is in an attractive design in either blue or pink. It has video camera options, a disk and cables for the computer so that you can download and 'photo shop' your photos. Basically, this camera is amazing, you can choose ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to use, full of fun features

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None!

We bought this for my son when he was two and a half to keep him away from our digital camera and it has been a huge hit. He finds it really easy to use (although we do get a lot of shots of random things!) and its additional features (games, video, frames) provide endless entertainment. My son especially likes the frames feature which lets you add features as you take the photo, e.g. a pig nose, a pirate hat! It is easy to turn on and has a power off function. There are two buttons, one on top and one on the back, which can be used to take the photo, meaning children can find the easiest ... more
