My boys have mountains of toys, not only at our own house but at my parents' house where we visit often. I'm very keen when buying toys to minimise duplicates where possible, so because we have an ELC shape sorter at home I wanted to find a different shape sorter for my parents' house. In this search I came across the VTech Sort and Soar Rocket. ***What Is It*** The shape sorter is rocket shaped. This is made from brightly coloured yellow, red and blue plastic. It has five different shaped slots, each which have a different coloured rim around them which lights up as inside each slot there is ... more

What a fantastic toy this is. The Vtech sort & soar rocket is a shape sorter, which claims to be suitable for toddlers 9 months and up. Now, I remember having a shape sorter "ball" - you know, the one where you posted the shapes into the ball and when it was full you had to pull REALLY hard on the handles to separate the two halves of the ball and shake the shapes out? Well, kids toys have come a long way since then, and this rocket is no exception. It still has sorter slots, but also does so much more! Unfortunately, as with many modern toys, it does need batteries (4 "AA"). The good news ... more

Vtech Sort and Soar Rocket..... Vtech sort and Soar Rocket is a child's toy for the ages of 9 months and over. It costs around the £10 mark give or take a few pence from shop to shop and is a wonderful toy. The basic idea of the toy is that is primarily a shape sorter with five different shapes to poke through the corresponding shape hole. The shapes that are used are a triangle, circle, square, star and moon. These different shapes are all different colours. So the Triangle is orange, the circle is green, the square is blue, the star is purple and the moon is red. These five different ... more

For my daughters first birthday, her aunties brought her the Vtech Sort and Soar Rocket. How good is this toy… well in my opinion its fab, and she likes playing with it too.!! It’s a good size shape sorter with 5 shapes to sort – triangle, square, circle, crescent moon, and star shapes, each a different colour and made out of tough quality plastic. Each shape hole on the rocket has a coloured ring around it which corresponds to the colour of the shape that fits in the hole, these coloured rings also light up then the shape is pushed through. There is a sliding switch on the side base of the ... more

My twin girls received this ingenious toy as a present for their 1st birthday although is is suitable from about9 months, and I can honestly say it is one of the best toys they have had. The bright colours and differing tunes encourages the child to learn as they play. ~About the company~ VTech is the creator of Electronic Learning Products and is a world leader of age appropriate learning toys from 6 months to 9 years. The company began in 1976 in Hong Kong. ~The Product~ The Sort and soar rocket is made of a tough, colourful plastic which is eye-catching to children and has various ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Noisy toy

The Vtech Sort and Soar rocket is great, my daughter loves this toy. She was given it for her first birthday and is still playing with it today and she is now two. She used to get a bit frustrated with it when she was younger and couldn't get the shapes in but as she has got older and learnt how it works she loves playing with it. It's basically a shape sorter but it's more interactive. It lights up, plays music, does shapes, colours, numbers and sounds. It's in the shape of a rocket and has a slider at the bottom to select the activity. When you turn it on it lights up and plays a little tune ... more

Vtech sort and soar rocket. Firstly vtech is a make I know that I can trust to last my daughters needs so I dont mind paying that little bit extra than other makes. I bought this for my daughter not so long back as I noticed she was starting to get quite bored with all her other toys so off we went to the local toy shop, where I placed her infront of the vtech section and let her look at all the toys, but she kept going back to this rocket, so this is the one we chose, and im glad we did because she has so much fun with it. ***************************************** ... more

    Disadvantages Disadvantages battery operated

I run a playscheme for autistic kids aged between 5 and 11. Buying toys that are suitable is really difficult as they have to be easy to use, engaging so that the kids don't just get bored, and motivating/rewarding. The sort and soar is all of these things and more! In each of the shaped holes is an electronic sensor that triggers a sound when the shape is pushed through. What this trigger cause is dependant on the mode it is set to. There are five different main modes: shapes, colours, numbers, sounds and songs. In addition, when left alone the rocket moves about and makes random noises. For ... more

After successful purchases of other vtech toys. We brought this sort and soar rocket for our sons 1st birthday. It didn't disapoint. We got ours in woolworths on offer for around 10 pounds and boy have we had our moneys worth. With six different play settings (music, colours, shapes, sounds, numbers, and free play) this is not as annoying as most other talking toys out there. Plus theres the added bonous of being able to make the rocket 'blast off' and releasing the sorted shaps from the bottom of the rocket. Every time it does this my son jumps a mile and then laughs his head off! This is a ... more
