    Advantages Advantages Great flavour

Disadvantages Disadvantages gets a bit sickly after a few

First off I'll just point out that I am in no way trying to encourage anyone to go get blootered! Drink responsibly!! Alcopops are, for me, a godsend. I despise beers, lagers and wines. Lucky for me, I grew up when these things were readily available. Yay! Starting with the stats, theres 275ML (approx) in every bottle and 1.4 units of alcohol in every 275ML giving us a grand total of 5% alcomaholalol! Thankfully this information is printed in the back of every bottle in a rather easy to read fashion. So if you're wanting to be more concious of what your drinking you can count it all up. The ... more

Advantages Advantages Nice taste, refreshing, sweet.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Moreish

Alcopops are as necessary to clubbers as a tin of spinach is to Popeye. When you are dancing all night until the break of dawn, you need something sugary to give you the energy to dance some more and something that tastes good too. Beer is a big ‘no no’ if you are going clubbing as you are more than likely to throw it back up on a friend shirt. Alcopops are good because you can drink them and dance as much as you like and not risk the frothiness making you feel sickly. Alcopops used to be something of a drink for the ladies when Bacardi Breezers were the main alcopop around, however WKD has ... more

    Advantages Advantages Tastes gorgeous

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Sickly

WKD is one of the many alcopops drinks currently on the market. There are three types of WKD - Irn Bru, Silver and Blue and today Matthew I’m going to be Blue. Sorry, thought I was on Stars in your Eyes for a moment……….. I first tried the wonderful WKD in a bar in Scotland about two and a half years ago. I remember seeing it on a shelf behind the bar wanting to try it just because of it’s lovely colour! However, I asked for a W K D and was gruffly told by the barman that in future I should ask for a Wicked. That was the pronounciation sorted, now onto the drink. The latest bottle of blue WKD ... more

    Advantages Advantages Its blue!!!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Very very syrupy sweet

WKD is an alcopop that has been around for a while now - first as a kind of alcoholic Irn Bru and now as blue WKD and silver WKD. I'm sure you are all familiar with the concept of an alcopop but just to recap they are alcoholic versions of soft drinks in lurid colours which come in glass bottles. They appeared back in about 1996 to much controversy because grown ups thought kiddies would drink them. They were right! I was 16 and I have been drinking them ever since. But of course I do not advocate underage drinking. Oh no. Aimed at student age girls in cheesy clubs, WKD is one of the new and ... more

Advantages Advantages Tastes great - guarentees attention

Disadvantages Disadvantages Weight gain - quite costly!

Well and truly smurfed... The place was Scotland the year was 1996. A magical creation was born - a blue 'wicked' alcopop. One I am unable to resist in 'any' public house! ...Taste... So sugary, I was once told the delightful WKDBLUE contains three times as many calories as a MacDonalds Big Mac. No wonder my numerous attempts at weight loss are always unsuccessful! The taste I believe is described by wkd as 'a refreshingly different flavour tenderly combined with vodka'. To be quite honest I'm struggling to find the right words to express the flavor, fruity - actually depending on the ... more

Advantages Advantages Sweet, non-alcoholic taste, affordable.

Disadvantages Disadvantages No depth to the flavour, better varieties available.

I go through phases with drinks and I must admit that WKD Blue was a drink I did enjoy in my early drinking years. It is categorised as an 'Alcopop' and although it has a very sweet and sugary taste it has an ABV of 5.5%. The drink is aimed towards the younger person in the drinks market and appeals due to its colour and taste. The drink is said to be a 'Sparkling alcoholic premix of mixed fruit flavours and triple distilled vodka'. The drink comes in a clear glass bottle and the 275ml bottle is a bright blue colour. The taste is very easily recognised as blue bubblegum and is so very sweet ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages It gets you drunk.

I have just been sitting here playing PGA Tour Golf 2003 (which i am going to write an opinion on soon by the way, so look out for that), nothing like plugging my own opinions is there LOL. Anyway, as i was saying, i was sitting here playing that game, when i thought to myself, god i need a drink, so i went down to the fridge, looked around, a drink of milk, yes i thought but bugger me none left LOL. A drink of orange or coca cola i thought, but again nothing left, so i am looking and all i have left in my fridge at this time is a WKD blue. Now i know it is 4pm on a monday afternoon, to early ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap and quite potent

Disadvantages Disadvantages Too easy to get a Hangover!

I was looking back over my earlier reviews and realised that there were quite a few that needed updating. I cringed when I realised how little detail was in this one and seeing a “researching” opportunity have rewritten this opinion. Back then I stated that “WKD was a vodka based alcopop that had been around for some time and was still on the shelves” – Time for me to find out if it was still around……….. I drafted in a few of the girls to help me with my research. Saturday Morning in the boiling hot sun, I’m off to Tesco to buy some nibbles ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to drink, nice taste, good mixer, easy to carry- portable!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bit pricey, sickly, high calorie content.

Okay, so first of all, I am only just turned 18 so hooray for me, I can drink legally! Since I am new to pubs and that, I usually go for things I know I will like- eg. alcopops. I guess being a young female I am the target audience for this drink. Onto the drink itself. It comes in a strudy glass bottle, rather like a bottle of Budweiser. It is labelled clearly, and you can see the liquid inside- a lurid blue concoction. I think the first time I set eyes on blue wicked I couldn't help comparing it to listerine. Hmm. Anyway, apparentley WKD is reffered to as an RTD (a ready-to-drink) beverage ... more

Advantages Advantages The taste....ooohh the taste!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages The cost

I first discovered my WKD side while out with the lads one Friday night. I noticed those little Blue and Orange bottles sitting in the fridge behind the bar - calling out to my wallet, so I had to try them. The choice I was faced with was orange or blue, orange or blue? hmmmmm I tried them both. You are one of two types of WKD person - a WKD Blue or a WKD Bru. Not both. The flavours are so distinctly different that I as yet havent met a single person that likes them both equally. The WKD Blue is a fantastic blend of mixed fruit juices and vodka which give a truely unique flavour, one that i ... more
