And so, the first Walkers production line burst into action in the empty upper storey of Walker's Oxford Street factory in Leicester. During these early days the potatoes were sliced up by hand and cooked in an ordinary fish and chip frier. Mr Gerrard himself was the first cook! From this humble start, the public's love affair with crisps and Walkers began and crisp manufacture was here to stay.

*Cheese and Onion
*Salt and Vinegar
*Prawn Cocktail
Not bad, I thought, though I wasn't a huge fan of prawn cocktail I thought I may aswell give them a try.

Advantages: Worcester Sauce are quite nice Disadvantages: mild, flavours
Walkers Crisps are probably the best known and, dare I say it, best loved crisps in the UK. Their slogan says “There’s no crisp like Walkers” and I don’t think anyone, whether they like them or not would disagree. They claim to harvest potatoes that are grown specially for Walkers, add their own unique flavours (can’t argue with that) and keep the crisps fresh with their ‘three way protective packaging”. ... ...to really feel the ‘tang’. Walkers just didn’t do it for me. The flavourings were weak and very unmemorable and I can’t say I was too disappointed when I reached the end of the packet (which like ALL Walkers crisps was only filled about ½ of the way up the bag). I guess for those people out there who like ‘mild’ flavours in their crisps it would be ok, but when it comes to me they get the thumbs down.
The second ...

Walkers is a well-known brand which has been established for years so you can expect quality from this 34.5g bag and may even pack a punch when you come to pay for it at the till and realise how much it is (if you didn’t find he price that is), but you expect that with well-known brands.

...favourite kinds of crisps are Walkers crisps. They have many different benefits about them, which I will tell you more about below.

On their own, walkers packages are as follows. Please forgive me for the ones that I miss out, but I won’t be including the ones like walkers sensations.

Walkers logo is very noticeable on the shelves, with the big yellow circle with the red walkers banner wrapped around it. ...the snack food block – Walkers of Leicester. Straight from the off, their crisps had me ‘hooked’. The problem we’ve all found with other brands is uniformity of taste. Other brands’ crisps did not have that ‘full’ flavour in each bag. I’ve tasted some which frankly you’d be hard pressed to tell if it was Chicken, Beef, Bacon or PLAIN! No such problem with Walkers – they are always the best. ... ...killed for a packet of Walkers Cheese and Onion!” I know what he feels like. ~ ~ Nowadays, Walkers are prominently displayed on all the supermarket shelves here in Ireland, and the best buy is their “multi-pack” of crisps. We usually end up buying about four of these multi-packs, as my wife enjoys the Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar, while my own preference is still for the good old ready salted plain variety. (old habits die hard)
They’re excellent value as well, at only Euro 1.80 per pack, or 30 cents per packet. ...

...the line workers in the Walkers factory that morning. You see it is all to do with organic chemistry, otherwise known as aromatic hydrocarbon development. You take nasty bits of plastic blend them under certain heat conditions and behold you get a substance that smells and tastes of smoky bacon. Also it is not the salt. Although there is enough salt in a packet of crisps to send your blood pressure up by about 2mm of mercury. No it is the carbohydrate.
... ...2) The second way in which Walkers crisps may kill is due to the simplicity of these carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates such as potato fragments heated in hydrogenated oil are readily broken down into glucose by the body. This causes your pancreas to release a load of insulin. The sugar is stored and then you suffer a hypo. This makes you hungry for more, and this is the reason why one bag is never enough. So what. Well the insulin release depletes ...

WOW, have Walkers crisps changed.
They are still of course made with potatoes but they are no longer greasy and have 70% less (yes 70% less) saturated fat. Now we all know by now that the saturated fats are bad for you .
Sunseed oil is high in mono-unsaturates a 'good' fat. As stated by Walkers this is one of the healthiest oils there is.
They have also lowered the salt content at 0.4g which is equivalent to just 7% of your daily intake. ...

Walker's crisps which are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians, have been produced since 1948 and today are Britain's favourite brand-just ask Gary Lineker.
They come in a wide variety of flavours. There is Ready Salted, one of my favourites; I suppose I am a crusty old traditionalist at heart ! The ingredients of Prawn Cocktail crisps comprise
potatoes
vegetable oil
paprika
cocktail flavour
sweetener
salt
