Advantages Advantages Fast, fast, fast, fast, cheap, fast, did I mention the speed yet?

Disadvantages Disadvantages 12 month contract, 2 GB bandwidth cap

Are you…? Tired of dropped connections? Sick of waiting ‘months’ for web pages to load? Had enough of the ‘will it, won’t it connect’ while dialling up? Like to use the phone and surf at the same time? You know what I’m talking about. Tight Git… I’ve been on the verge of ordering some form of broadband connection for what seems like forever BUT being a canny Yorkshireman (def. A Scotsman with every ounce of generosity squeezed out of him…), I could never quite bring myself to spend the extra cash each month. It was always just above the threshold of what I was willing to pay for the service ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast - when it is working

Disadvantages Disadvantages 12 month contract, broken promises, no service

We chose Wanadoo Broadband (previously Freeserve) as when we connected in October ’03, the price of £27.99 was one of the cheapest around and we were already using Freeserve’s Dial-Up service. We were connected within a couple of weeks and had no problems with the service until we moved home and tried to move our Broadband connection with us. Having Broadband was like a breath of fresh air - no waiting for dial up to connect us, you can use your phone at the same time, high speed internet access and it is easy to install the modem yourself. To connect to Wanadoo you have to ensure that you ... more

Advantages Advantages Easy to set up, cheap, works great

Disadvantages Disadvantages 2 GB download limit, Filters may pose you a problem if you use an extension.

About two weeks ago, I finally decided that it was time to move on to broadband putting an end to my existing dial-up contract with BT and enagaging the services of Wanadoo (formerly Freeserve). A change for the better? Without doubt. I came across Wanadoo having picked up a free CD at my local Dixons (these CD's are available at almost any electrical store curry's, dixon's etc.) and after doing research on other ISP's, decided this was the one for me. Why? Well it's the cheapest one around for a start (£17.99 a month with free modem and self-installation) and despite the 2GB a month cap on ... more

Advantages Advantages Free modem, Value for money, Competitive package

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bandwidth capping, Punitive charges

EDIT (03 September 2005): Despite being happy with the service, I have now left Wanadoo for another provider. This was exclusively due to (and with some regret) cost considerations. ----- Writing this is one of my first acts on my brand spanking new Wanadoo 512Kbps ADSL broadband connection, naturally following the checking of e-mail and a quick whiz around the web; consisting of a visit to BBC News and a music video service, just to test out the capabilities of this new found freedom. In general I am impressed; no more will I have to wait in anticipation for a story to load as I sip my ... more

Advantages Advantages There seems to be a temporary improvement at the moment - but its a case of too little too late

Disadvantages Disadvantages I don't think they understand the concept of "Service"

Once upon a time there was a woman who had a good quality internet connection. She then moved and opted for Freeserve "Anytime" package. After a few months of difficulties and then an even shorter amount of time with a good quality service it all went downhill. Not even its new incarnation as Wanadoo could give this story a happy ending. When Freeserve first came on the market they were an absolute godsend. As one of the first Internet Service Providers to charge its users at local rates they helped to bring down the cost of the internet for the average man on the street. As my parent's still ... more

    Advantages Advantages RELIABLE SERVICE.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A LITTLE EXPENSIVE.

The purpose of this review is to help establish the reputation of Wanadoo in the U.K. When I started on the Internet four years ago, I was connected through Wanadoo, and although the name is new in the U.K., it is an old and established Internet Service Provider in France, run by France Telecom and the idea that Wanadoo have now the intention of putting all their businesses across Europe on the same band seems like a good idea in some senses, I am a little hesitant in being completely convinced that for the individual customer Wanadoo is the answer, although their track record is good, and ... more

Advantages Advantages popular, easy to set up

Disadvantages Disadvantages easy to upset customers, terrible customer service

This is a really weird opinion to write. I am writing as someone who, very recently, broke up a longstanding relationship. It was acrimonious and I didn't want to have to, but I did it, because I knew that in the long run I would be better off. Let me take you back... In 1998 I joined the internet revolution with my trusty Pentium 166 computer and my 33k modem. After a brief flirtation with another ISP, I settled down into a cosy relationship with Freeserve, as it was the first ISP to offer just call charges with no monthly subscription. Life with Freeserve was bliss. Well, it had to be, as I ... more

Advantages Advantages Fast, quick, speedy..../oh and they're not slow

Disadvantages Disadvantages 12 month contract - but that seems standard now

I have access to the internet at work and use it fiarly infrequently at home so have put off switching to broadband. Then I noticed Wanadoo had improved their offers, plus the my current service from Onetel seemed to be getting a lot slower, and a little light bulb went off and said, what a good idea!!! They currently offer 3 broadband packages (details can be found at www.wanadoo.co.uk), and for someone like me who doesn't download that much at home they have one at just £17.99 a month. This is not for the poultry 256kbs or 512 kbps that is offered by the likes of BT and Tiscalli for lower ... more

Advantages Advantages Great Anytime service at only £14.99 per month

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some of the Broadband charges are ridiculous

I got my first ever computer in January 2004 and I decided to choose Freeserve now Wanadoo as my ISP. Wanadoo isn't bad at all because you get an e-mail address and a top ISP to boot. It's hard to believe but Wanadoo Webmail is better than the No.1 e-mail provider MSN Hotmail and here's why. I'm with Hotmail and I like it better because it's more popular with people in general. But with Wanadoo Webmail you get 5MB e-mail inbox space that's twice as much as Hotmail and virus scanning for free! Unlike Hotmail which you have to subscribe for £14.99 per year to get virus scanning. So the e-mail ... more

    Advantages Advantages quite reasonably priced

Disadvantages Disadvantages ill tell you below!

I picked up a Freeserve (previous name for Wanadoo) CD a few years ago. Installed and registered for the Freeserve Anytime package. This meant I payed £14.99 a month for unlimited internet use.(not broadband just standard modem) I stuck with this for 1 year, then brought my own house last year. As its a new house, no phone line was connected so we continued to pay for the internet service we werent using. (Couldnt find their number as only ever receive email confirmations so as couldnt access internet coudnt contact them). So that bit was my fault. Anyway when eventually had phone line put in ... more
