Blazing Modems- Wanadoo ADSL. NOW A 1MB SERVICE!!

Advantages: Fast, fast, fast, fast, cheap, fast, did I mention the speed yet?
Disadvantages: 12 month contract, 2 GB bandwidth cap

Are you…? Tired of dropped connections? Sick of waiting ‘months’ for web pages to load? Had enough of the ‘will it, won’t it connect’ while dialling up? Like to use the phone and surf at the same time? You know what I’m talking about. Tight Git… I’ve been on the verge of ordering some form of broadband connection for what seems like forever BUT being a canny Yorkshireman (def. A Scotsman with every ounce of generosity squeezed out of him…), I could ...
...month. It was always just above the threshold of what I was willing to pay for the service and if the monthly price was right, there was usually as snag in the form of activation fees and cost of modem and filters which meant that the partially filled in sign up form got binned …again… Sigh, back to the crappy 56k then. The situation for me was made worse by having a superdoopermegaspeedy office connection, which only highlighted the trauma of putting ...

Emily can't attend ciao today, signed Wanadoo!

Advantages: Fast - when it is working
Disadvantages: 12 month contract, broken promises, no service

We chose Wanadoo Broadband (previously Freeserve) as when we connected in October ’03, the price of £27.99 was one of the cheapest around and we were already using Freeserve’s Dial-Up service. We were connected within a couple of weeks and had no problems with the service until we moved home and tried to move our Broadband connection with us. Having Broadband was like a breath of fresh air - no waiting for dial up to connect us, you can use your ...
...yourself. To connect to Wanadoo you have to ensure that you have a USB port, a BT phoneline, a suitable debit or credit card and Windows 98, 98SE, ME, 2000 Professional or XP. Mac OS 8.6 or higher. Wanadoo's £27.99 internet package gives you a speed of 512K, which I have always found more than adequate and never had more than a second or two delay in browsing between "pages" on the net. You have a download limit of 15 Gigabytes. Now I won't pretend ...

Wanadoo Broadband?

Advantages: Easy to set up, cheap, works great
Disadvantages: 2 GB download limit, Filters may pose you a problem if you use an extension.

...and enagaging the services of Wanadoo (formerly Freeserve). A change for the better? Without doubt. I came across Wanadoo having picked up a free CD at my local Dixons (these CD's are available at almost any electrical store curry's, dixon's etc.) and after doing research on other ISP's, decided this was the one for me. Why? Well it's the cheapest one around for a start (£17.99 a month with free modem and self-installation) and despite the 2GB a ...
...had a look around the Wanadoo website (which is excellent I might add) and have generally had lots of fun ever since. What's the catch you are probably thinking. Well, as I mentioned, the 2GB download cap is worth considering before contracting yourself to this package (which is of 12 month duration). 1 GB is apparently equivalent to 6 hours surfing a day or two hundred music tracks but I like to think of it in terms of: you have 64MB's a day. Basically ...

Do what you Wanadoo

Advantages: Free modem, Value for money, Competitive package
Disadvantages: Bandwidth capping, Punitive charges

...service, I have now left Wanadoo for another provider. This was exclusively due to (and with some regret) cost considerations. ----- Writing this is one of my first acts on my brand spanking new Wanadoo 512Kbps ADSL broadband connection, naturally following the checking of e-mail and a quick whiz around the web; consisting of a visit to BBC News and a music video service, just to test out the capabilities of this new found freedom. In general I ...
...Result: Thank you for ordering Wanadoo Broadband, we'll be in touch shortly. They go on to tell you that the lead time, that is the time that it takes for BT to change your line to ADSL is ten days. Now bearing in mind that I placed this order Saturday evening the following events are quite extraordinary. Monday ~12:00: Pick up the phone no dial tone… jiggle the receiver button… no response, I resolve to call BT on my mobile, but first a cup of tea. ...

Doo Not

Advantages: There seems to be a temporary improvement at the moment - but its a case of too little too late
Disadvantages: I don't think they understand the concept of "Service"

...even its new incarnation as Wanadoo could give this story a happy ending. When Freeserve first came on the market they were an absolute godsend. As one of the first Internet Service Providers to charge its users at local rates they helped to bring down the cost of the internet for the average man on the street. As my parent's still use the internet relatively infrequently, they still find this the most cost effective way to access the internet. ...

...help establish the reputation of Wanadoo in the U.K. When I started on the Internet four years ago, I was connected through Wanadoo, and although the name is new in the U.K., it is an old and established Internet Service Provider in France, run by France Telecom and the idea that Wanadoo have now the intention of putting all their businesses across Europe on the same band seems like a good idea in some senses, I am a little hesitant in being completely ...

Wanadoo are professional in their approach, and a little more in synch with people's needs than the likes of AOL, plus connection to their server has not once been a problem, whereas with AOL, it has always been a little hit and miss, and there are certain days when I cannot connect to the Internet. Here in France, they offer packages of a certain number of hours per month, and knowing the French as I do, I cannot imagine that this ...

Breaking up is hard to Wanadoo

Advantages: popular, easy to set up
Disadvantages: easy to upset customers, terrible customer service

This is a really weird opinion to write. I am writing as someone who, very recently, broke up a longstanding relationship. It was acrimonious and I didn't want to have to, but I did it, because I knew that in the long run I would be better off. Let me take you back... In 1998 I joined the internet revolution with my trusty Pentium 166 computer and my 33k modem. After a brief flirtation with another ISP, I settled down into a cosy relationship with ...
...call charges with no monthly subscription. Life with Freeserve was bliss. Well, it had to be, as I met my wife on the internet. Reasonably fast connection and all that jazz. In 2000 we joined up with 'Unlimited Freeserve'. a service that gave us cheaper phone calls and a 24/7 charge free internet service. Life, as you can imagine, was ultimate bliss. Then my chosen partner became a touch big-headed and self-centred. We received an email saying ...

...broadband. Then I noticed Wanadoo had improved their offers, plus the my current service from Onetel seemed to be getting a lot slower, and a little light bulb went off and said, what a good idea!!! They currently offer 3 broadband packages (details can be found at www.wanadoo.co.uk), and for someone like me who doesn't download that much at home they have one at just £17.99 a month. This is not for the poultry 256kbs or 512 kbps that is offered ...
...connections, but a massive 1Mbps (in truth I'm actually getting 1.1Mbps). So how did it all start. Well I signed up on-line and was told it would probably take 10 days to get the service activated. My free Modem and Broadband filters (more about these later) arrived the following day by courier. I connected it all up, using the supplied instructions, and waited, as they told me to. 3 days later I was up and running - fantastic. I don't know how ...

Wanadoo? Do they wana be good?

Advantages: Great Anytime service at only £14.99 per month
Disadvantages: Some of the Broadband charges are ridiculous

...decided to choose Freeserve now Wanadoo as my ISP. Wanadoo isn't bad at all because you get an e-mail address and a top ISP to boot. It's hard to believe but Wanadoo Webmail is better than the No.1 e-mail provider MSN Hotmail and here's why. I'm with Hotmail and I like it better because it's more popular with people in general. But with Wanadoo Webmail you get 5MB e-mail inbox space that's twice as much as Hotmail and virus scanning for free! Unlike ...
...And then there's Wanadoo Broadband which for 512KPS is an amazing £15.99 a month. Great. But go up to something like 1GB and it will cost you £39.99 a month. Too high in my opinion. So the burning question would I recommend this to you. Yes I would. Service: 6 Okay but National Rate charges totally suck. Wanadoo search the web is awful. Price: 10 This is the best bit £14.99 a month. Deal! I think Wanadoo is the best ISP out there there service ...

Wanadoo - Good service or not?

Advantages: Value for money, fast connection, very reliable.
Disadvantages: None I can think of!

...to give my opinion on Wanadoo or also know as Freeserve. Just for you who don't know, Wanadoo is an ISP with good value dial-up and broadband connections. They have also been established quite a while and have plenty of experience. My own personal experience with Wanadoo has been a very good one. The only thing was the time it took to get my broadband connection connected. This however was no fault of Wanadoo's. It was the timing I ordered my connection ...

There is a range of contents for non-members and even more for members, for example, Wanadoo music club and competitions. Once you sign up with Wanadoo you also get various services like e-mail accounts that are easy to set-up and use. The dial-up service is available anywhere with a phone line and broadband services in most places. The minimum that Wanadoo ...

Wanadoo ? - Better Not

Advantages: Fast internet connection
Disadvantages: Poor support, unhelpful service

...However, id advise againsts it. Wanadoo lack terribly in Support, and should you have a problem they will rarely, solve the problem. To add instult to injury, you pay for the calls to support! In my oppintion it is best to pay abit more for the added advantage of support. there are a lot better products available now, which offer high speeds without cutting corners. Since Wanadoo have now become Orange the service as declined further and produced ...
...Thanks guys for advice guys, so here my added review. Price The price ranges between your level of use (capped or uncapped) and the speed you wish to use (1 or up to 8 meg). the price for the basic package is £14.99. thi basically entails a limited user as it has a 2 GB cap on it. meaning you can only download an aggreagate useage of 2GB a month. This package also uses a standard modem not compatible with wireless activity. the next package upwards ...

Wanadoo - lies, lies and yet more lies

Advantages: doesn't block up your phone line
Disadvantages: lies, lies, lies and oh yeah lies.

I recently joined Wanadoo and recived my moden and the rest of it. It took 2 weeks to get online which was dssaponting as they promised 10 working days. Secondly, they promised me £10 to spend at Wanadoo Music Club. After seveal failed calls and unanswered emails, i was beginging to regret joining with them. Also, thye said that it is 20x faster than dial up. So i tested it out with AOL 9.0 and found that AOL was faster!! I was schocked and horrifed ...
...this review by stating that, Wanadoo is not good value for money, and if you are looking for good value broadband, phone line, and digitgal, TeleWest offer great packages, unfortuantley i don't live on a TeleWest enabled street so i am unalbe to get it! Also, when you get broadband you are expected to have an Always On Connection but unfortunat;ley with Wanadoo this is not teh case. You have to connect (just like dial up) to gain access to the internet!! ...

Beware, be VERY aware

Advantages: Well.............um...............
Disadvantages: Bad Customer Services/Technical etc

...my mind! Since having Wanadoo Broadband installed in May 2004, we have had nothing but problems. Constant Line Dropping, Scripting Errors within the Speedtouch/Wandoo software and now, to add insult to injury, Wanadoo are insisting on sending out emails to their Broadband customer informing them that they can look at their account details, change things etc using the specially designed "Wanadoo Members Centre". This is a great idea. (He thinks) ...
...Unfortunatly, what Wanadoo forgot to mention is that their "technical department" haven't got round to getting the centre live! Why not.... (i hear people cry) ?? Their reply to this is "we cannot get the security suites to recognise broadband users" OK, an understandable problem. So, on sending an email to Wanadoo, I was horified to discover that only 2.63% of emails that are sent to any of their departments are actually read by a human being. ...

Advantages: Service doesn't go down that much.
Disadvantages: Poor customer service.

...Now at first I thought Wanadoo sounded like a decent ISP but after being with them for a few years it just got really annoying. Every single time my dad phones this company up... Usually you wait in the que for a long time and then when you finally get through you get mostly people who aren't very good speakers of English, hard to understand and each time you tell them something you get the same answers which never ever are related to the problem. ...
