    Let’s face it, money for nothing is something that no-one would snub. Whether that is winning some money on the lottery, using your clubcard at Tesco, or, as I’m sure a number of you will obviously like – getting money from your reviews here on Ciao. I tend to be rather stingy sometimes, and hate spending money, I suppose most of my money at the moment goes on my weekends, the nights out, the alcohol and the food.     I must admit that I do love my loyalty cards, and I tend to collect them wherever I go, regardless of how much I actually shop in the particular shop in question! Luckily I noticed at the beginning of the year that my branch of Waterstones was one of a few in the country who were going to trail a new loyalty card fo Waterstones customers. So I filled in the little form thingy at the checkout, they gave me my card and away I went, adding yet another oblong of plastic to my purse.     Being a bibliomaniac since childhood, I have always spent far more time and money than is healthy in bookstores. Thus, when I spotted the signs advertising a Waterstones' reward card, I signed up as soon as I could. The reward scheme is simple. For every £1 spent in-store or online, 3 points are earned. Extra points are also awarded when you opt out of using a plastic bag, and occasionally there are even double points weekends. Not to mention that bonus points (sometimes up to 100 extra points!) are available if you purchase certain titles. A rewards card such as this is especially attractive ... more

    I'm a big fan of store cards that reward customers for loyalty. Initially when the Waterstones card was launched, I assumed that it was linked to a credit card (as the M&S card is for example) and I try to avoid racking up credit. So one day when I was stocking up on my next little pile of books in my local shop, the assistant explained to me that it was just a loyalty card. Of course I immediately signed up. - Accumulation - The card allows you to accumulate 3 points per £1 that is spent on normal products which is a much better rate than some other cards such as the Boots Advantage card ... more

    Advantages Advantages Quick to accumulate points & freedom for part point payment

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Like any reward card, you need to spend ALOT of money to get ALOT of points!

    If you look in my purse you will see a variety of loyalty cards from a number of different retailers. My favourite of all of them is the Waterstones Points Card. It's not that they are particularly generous at 3 points per £1 spent, but that each point is worth 1p. I have quite quickly accumulated a significant amount of money on my card to redeem which will come in handy for birthdays and christmas. You can use your card on the Waterstones website to earn or spend, and you have the option of part point payment, part card payment [I've yet to try this in store]. BONUS!
