WEIGHTWATCHERS An update to my original review Hello my name is Sue and I'm a Weight Watcher!!!!!! I first made a hesitant step into a Weight Watcher meeting about 35 years ago. In those days the plan was completely different you had to eat certain foods at certain times. I stuck to the plan rigidly, I filled in my tracker every week and was the star pupil week after week. In less than a year I had lost 8 stone, in fact I struggled not to loose too much when I was on maintenance. I kept the weight off for several moinths and then I started working full time, in those days there was only one ... more

Advantages Advantages healthier habits, support, it works for most people

Disadvantages Disadvantages not enough emphasis on exercise being important, not enough focus on healthy eating!

What is Weightwatchers?Weight Watchers is a really big company, and they’ve been around since about 1963. They operate in around 30 countries, and are meant to be one of the most successful plans in the world – I’ll let you know if I agree in a few months! Unlike other fad diets, Weight Watchers isn’t about cutting out food groups or starving yourself – it teaches you how to form good eating habits. The awesome part – no food is off limits! So yes – you can still eat chocolate!! I really needed something that allowed me to still eat - I love food too much to give it all up. My journey so farI ... more

INTRODUCTION I am not over weight but I am slightly heavier than I should be for my height, usually this would not bother me but, I have been trying to have a baby for over six years, and I have recently undergone a big operation to help me and my husband get the baby we have always longed for. After the operation my consultant has advised me to lose a stone in weight, this is usually very easy to do and I can achieve the weight loss in 6-8 weeks. The biggest problem for me is keeping the weight off as I work full time and constantly pick at the wrong sort of foods. I needed help so I decided ... more

Advantages Advantages recipes, weight loss stories

Disadvantages Disadvantages a lot of ads

Determined to lose weight, I decided it was time to purchase a Weight Watchers magazine. I had always put this off in the past as I feared it would be full of people with a lot more will power than I who had succeeded in losing a two stone, or crammed with stories about those who had lost ten stone in two days by spending a grand on a 'miracle pill'. Though I found the magazine was calling out to me. It was either that, or an issue of Reveal with yet another story about how Cheryl Cole was too thin (they just wont leave the poor girl alone, will they?!). So Weight Watchers it was... It's all ... more

Advantages Advantages Inspirational stories and great recipes

Disadvantages Disadvantages What about the men?

I rarely buy magazines these days apart from F1 Racing and the odd trashy celebrity magazine, however since re-joining WeightWatchers 2 months ago, I have been buying this monthly magazine. While obviously it is geared towards people on the plan, really it is mostly like a general lifestyle magazine. It would help to be on WeightWatchers to appreciate this magazine fully, but you don't need to be, as it is not all about point-counting or information solely on WeightWatchers. The magazine is made up of real-life stories of members' weight loss, health articles, make-up and clothing features ... more

Advantages Advantages Choice of food, easy to follow, support

Disadvantages Disadvantages Hard to maintain when goal is reached, attending classes

I have been a member of weight watchers now on and off for a number of years, I have also tried other diets... slimming world, atkins, kellogs, herbalife etc etc. By far the easiest to stick with for me was weight watchers. With weight watchers you can eat what you want, when you want. The catch is that every item of food is worth so many points, based on the saturated fat and calorie content of that food. Depending on your starting weight you are given so many points a day to use up on food, for many people this is 20 points. There are many books and calculators available to enable you to ... more

    Advantages Advantages Very motivational

Disadvantages Disadvantages Constantly plugging their merchandise

As someone who has been on a lot of diets in the past, and has just rejoined Weight Watchers this magazine is an essential purchase. It's taken me a long time to realise that it is through peer support and other motivational activities that helps some (including myself) achieve and maintain the weight loss. There are a lot of slimming magazines on the market, but this one is particularly tailored to the Weight Watchers "Pure Points" plan and so is really only suited to those following this particular diet through classes or the "at home" programme. Weight Watchers is a glossy magazine, priced ... more

Advantages Advantages You are able to stil able to have treats and not feel bad for doing so.

Disadvantages Disadvantages you find when out and about it hard to track.

As I have got older my weight has become an issue for me. Finding something to wear and going clothes shopping was a nightmare, I never felt comfy in anything I tried on and it got a point where I thought I am going to have to do something about it. I had tried Slimming World and did manage to lose weight whilst doing it but just could not get on with the Red and Greens days. After trying all sorts of diets I was recommended Weight Watchers and thought I would give it a go. I had nothing to lose. Weight Watchers Pro Points When I first went to Weight Watchers they were still using the ... more

    Advantages Advantages Really motivating

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Quite expensive

I never really thought i needed to lose weight until I got on the scales 9 weeks ago and was shocked at the outcome. This kicked me into joining Weight Watchers Online and losing some weight to make me feel better. I had to pay £50 for the subscription fee and 3 months online, it is £10 per month after that. I can track what I eat and how many points each food has into my point tracker, you get allocated a certain amount of points per day depending on your weight and height and sex, I started on 24 points per day and am now down to 22 per day. The online version shows you your weight progress ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages COunting, but not so bad really!!!

Have been on Weight Watchers Pro POints system for 13 weeks and currently lost 1st 8lbs and lost every week on scales. I have joined monthly so have the push to keep going, have had hard moments but i would reccoment it to anyone. is hard to describe it but i can still eat what i want just in smaller amounts!! I have to be honest and i was unsure when i first joined, there seemed to be alot of thinking and counting and i wondered when i would ever get to eat something but by week 3 it was all kind of easy, i think the issue is remembering it is not a diet but lifestyle change and if you are ... more
