Advantages Advantages It is not permanent

Disadvantages Disadvantages It only works in certain hair

I bought 'Wella Shaders & Toners' in Boots it usually costs £1.25 for one sachet but it was on offer 'one third off' which meant that it now cost £0.83. I got colour 55, Mahogany. This product is a wash in - wash out hair dye. It is Instant colour and shine. This product is to be used for dark blonde to mid brown hair otherwise it will not be likely for it to work. This product is really easy to use! there are three steps involved. They are: 1. Wet hair and lather in Shaders & Toners. 2. Simply leave for five minutes. 3. Rinse clear. It lasts for three washes usually but this depends on the ... more

Advantages Advantages washes out in 2-3 washes, cheap

Disadvantages Disadvantages does not work for those with very dark hair

As an Asian i have very dark, almost black hair. i tried this product in the mahogany shade because i did not want to dye my hair , i just wanted to see my hair look a different color in sunlight. the first time i tried this product it did not change the color of my hair at all. Luckily i had bought two sachets so i used it again the next day but this time i noticed that it had only slightly added a tint to my hair which can only be seen in sunlight. overall i am quite disappointed with this product but to be fair i did not expect it to work miracles on my very dark hair. i would not recommend ... more

Advantages Advantages It makes your hair feel and smell nice

    Disadvantages Disadvantages It doesn't work!

Okay I understand that when you're thinking of dying your hair you may be unsure if the colour will suit you, and want a quick way to find out, that will also wash out if it looks awful. This is what I first used to dye my hair, probably a mahogany shade. My hair is brown, but not so dark that I thought it wouldn't work. I chose it because it was cheap (under a pound I think) and I was very wary about colouring my hair. Well it was easy to use, just tear open the sachet, use like shampoo, leave for about five minutes then rinse your hair. Well I was astonished by the amount of colour coming ... more

4 Stars Quick review of Wella Viva Shaders and Toners by Jinkus 12/09/2008
I tried my first sachet of shade 67 Rich Velvet Brown while on a visit to London over 5 years ago, and have been an enthusiastic user ever since of that shade, alternating it with shade (6)55 -Mahogany - every 3 weeks. I'm in my late 70's, still have naturally medium brown hair with a hint of auburn, and love the richness S&T adds to my own color. My only complaint is that I live in New York, and the product is not sold in the USA (at least that I know of), so kind friends have to keep sending me ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Wella Viva Shaders and Toners by Beach-cat 22/11/2008
I tried the Rich Velvet Brown yesterday for the first time and I was very impressed with the result. I'm 48 and had never before put a colour on my hair and was a bit worried it would turn my hair a solid colour, but it didn't. I still have several shades of brown and the little grey I have has been gently coloured. My hair has a shine and looks totally natural. I only used half the sachet and left it on for the recommended 5 minutes. I have thick, but fine, straight and fairly short hair (about 5cm off ... more

1 Star Quick review of Wella Viva Shaders and Toners by angellives 31/08/2008
I tried this one, the dark brown one, and it turned my hair PINK! It is NOT one i'll recommend to anyone. This is one i have warned people to stay away from as i know another girl who dyed her hair using the Wellar Plum shade and toner. It turned her hair ginger! and she had never put any colourants in her hair! I am NOT going to buy this again and i will never recommend it.

Advantages Advantages soft and shiny hair, but nothing else

    Disadvantages Disadvantages DIDN'T WORK!

I used shaders and toners the other day and it was awful! I bought it because i wanted my hair to be blonder becasue im a dark blonde colour so i wanted t be slightly blonder but It didn't dye my hair the tinyest bit. I mainly bought it because it was the cheapest in the shop.It sort of gave me a bit lighter hair but hardly but it did make my hair soft afterwards.I will never use shaders and toners again. It was not good atall and my mum didnt really want me to get a permanent colour so i got shaders and toners(wash in,wash out) i bought it in superdrug for £1.01. it wa sthe first time i dyed ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and leaves hair very shiny and healthier looking

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't change hair colour that much

I actually found this product very nice. Very easy to use as it just washes in like a shampoo. Have only used the one colour so far. I used the red colour on brown hair and it gave it a very subtle boost of colour. But the main benefit was that my hair was lovely and shiny and much healthier looking and at 75p a sachet (Tesco) it was a real bargain. I think if you are wanting to purely change the colour of your hair then this product probably wouldn't be noticable enough. But if you are wanting to boost the condition of your hair without a drastic change in the colour then this is perfect. At ... more

Advantages Advantages leaves hair soft and shiny

Disadvantages Disadvantages doesn't actually change hair colour

I bought this in the shade 'dark brown' and cost me a pound.it said it'd last for up to three washes, comes in a sachet.this goes in like a shampoo, you have to wait for five minutes and then washes out. However after i had dried my hair i found that my hair colour was exactly the same, no change whatsoever. It does say on the packet that if you want a more dramatic colour effect you should use it every time you wash, but if it had no effect the first time, will it have any the second?Plus it would be very expensive to buy one of the sachets for each time i wash my hair. The only positive i ... more

    Advantages Advantages easy to use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages EVERYTHING

So id just put a lovely blonde hairdye on my hair...but it came out goldy yellow..not a good look. so i decided i would try to hide the nastyness of my hair colour with shaders and toners untill i could slap on another permanent dye on my hair,i went for a nice red mahogony colour . So i rushed downstairs , rinsed my hair and slapped it on for 5mins , i was quite excited as it looked bright red .. so i washed it out untill water was clear and brushed, styled and looked in the mirror... OH MY GOD! what the hell have i done, was my first reaction,it looked like somebody had poured orange *NOT RED ... more
