Banana bread beer ?? When I first saw it in the shop, I had to do a double take. At first I thought it sounded like one of those cheap, flavoured beer conconctions that started to appear around 10 years ago. I tried them then (cherry flavoured beer; strawberry flavoured beer), but it was a case of once was more than enough for that particular experience, thank you very much. ...Beer is produced by Charles Wells Brewery. They are a brewery based in Bedford who also produces ales such as Bombardier and Eagle It sounded really interesting to me. I have had my mum’s home made banana loaf so how do you get this delicacy in a premium ale? The answer is simple you don’t. Disadvantages: Not a beer to be consumed in large quantities.

I first experienced this beer on draught at the 2003 CAMRA beer festival. Brewed by Charles Wells, it was one of the more unusual beers on offer at the festival of which I can say I had more than one try! The process of adding real banana pulp to the mash (malted barley and hot water) during the brewing stage is the key to the distinctive flavour offered by this very drinkable beer. This beer is excellent ,i have been buying it every week from morrisons. I was very disappointed this morning when i went to purchase it to find only 1pint bottle, the rest were 500ml ,for the same price. Is this your way of fighting inflation with deflation ? A very DISAPPOINTED person
