The West Highland Terrier is a very good breed of dog, it is suitable for all ages from children to pensioners. It gives it's owner loyalty for ever. The size of dog is perfect for a small house or flat, and requires only short walks, and playtimes can take place in gardens or parks. Our Westie, Max, is now 4 - we paid about £350 for him from a breeder - he has been a bundle of fun since we brought him home and he is a great family dog. He does have a tendancy to being grumpy now and then, and gives out a sort of grunt to let you know he wants to be left alone. I have a two year old Westie called Hamish. He likes to play with the big boys, his best friends being a Lurcher and a Rottweiller! Westies definately think of themselves as big dogs! They are very good with children, very patient and placid and will put up with quite a bit of pulling around!
