    INTRODUCTION I have had very little to complain about during my time here on Ciao. The community is great, the reviews are of an excellent standard (most of the time) and I very much appreciate the reads, rates and comments. However, having been born in England, I feel a pathological need to complain, so when casting about for ideas for a non-product review, I was delighted to find Room 101.     I'm not a hateful person generally, but damn, I know what I like and what I don't. The word isn't 'negative', it's 'discerning'. I am a lady of impeccable taste, after all, and us ladies don't like to waste our time on rubbishy things not worthy of our concern.     Wow, a chance for another Meldrew-esque rant and rail against life in general! Where to start, that's the problem? Should it be those car wheel trims that continue to rotate after the car's stopped, making it look like it's doing the automotive equivalent of a Michael Jackson Moonwalk?     Fox hunting On Monday, February 21 the government finally banned the vicious "sport". It took a long 20 year battle in Parliament by many animal-rights activists to finally put a stop to this. The foxhunters have always been arrogant, cruel, brutal people to believe that fox hunting is a good thing. A sport that allows men and women to ride horses as a group of hound dogs go and chase a poor defenceless fox until it gets tired then the dogs sadistically kills it by ripping it to shreds.     I have read many of these reviews and as I do enjoy the odd rant or two I thought I'd add my tuppence worth so as to basically get it off my chest… So we begin…. Get ready to open the door to room 101... The first thing to go into the room would have to be the constant bombardment of reality tv shows and how every time you turn a page in any newspaper some 'fame seeking' has been is smiling back at me… I try my hardest to avoid the likes of X Factor, strictly comes dancing, big brother and all the others by not watching the television in the first place… but I find it hard to stay sane when it ... more

    This is my first Ciao review in forever and know that my dedication knows no bounds: I've spent the day actually trying to put all these things into my own room 101. I don't really have a spare room so I'm using my kitchen crap drawer, banishing them to nestle, then suffocate, amidst the carrier bags/envelope's/nails/unpaid bills/broken Nintendo 64/Super Mario Alllstars/old crisps/mould etc...     This is going to be a rant and a half and might possibly upset a few people who may not agree with my views. But then again, I'm not writing this to be popular, but just to get a few things off my chest in this forum where I have a captive audience, so to speak… LAZY PEOPLE People who think the government (and the rest of us tax-payers) owe them a living just get my goat. In my job I have to deal with people who've been on benefits for a while (we help them gain work experience which in turn helps them secure permanent jobs).     This could have turned out to be my review of "10 Things That Annoy Me." Luckily for you I have limited myself to five, so it hasn't. (Apologies for the above pros and cons- bad joke!) Things I'd put in Room 101 1. IRONING I don’t have a problem with washing clothes, or with getting them dry. I do have a big one with ironing though, and have written this to get it off my chest (and also because I’m trying to avoid doing the dreaded deed right now).     For the most part I think it is fair to say that I am a reasonably mellow person. I like to think that I am indulgent to the opinions of others and I am often quoting the “each to their own” phrase. I believe it would be a pretty dull and boring world if we were all to live in the same state of equanimity.     Animal Cruelty This includes animal testing, animal hunting, the fur industry, domestic animal abuse and mindless killing or torture of innocent animals. It makes me sick to my stomach. I rang the RSPCA last Friday as I was making my way home and saw a great big lump of a man on a bike dragging a dog on a short lead next to him.
