    The horrific events in Ipswich have been an all too tragic reminder of how our moralistic and irresponsible attitude to the reality of prostitution in the UK leads to the deaths of innocent young women who through adverse social circumstances (or sometimes choice) have to risk their lives to make a living.     The second oldest profession in the world is accountancy and some would argue that it is equally as immoral. Accountants would probably say that they are amoral not immoral. Legalisation of prostitution is a sticky issue due to the very nature of the product being sold which is intimate time with another human being for money. This could in some quarters be called slavery but that is really going a bit far.     Those of you who know me know that I like a good, healthy debate. Usually I see both sides of the arguement but in this case I have a very definate opinion. And you ain't going to like it. Recent calls for the legalisation of Prostitution have shocked and dismayed me. Are we really recommending making the selling of sex an acceptable act? Do we really see Prostitution a way of earning a living. Wouldn't this mean that you would have to pay tax? And if you pay tax, then doesn't that mean you have a career? A profession?     ~ ~ The question we are being asked to consider in our opinions on this topic is whether or not we consider it a good idea for the Government to legalise prostitution. Whether it should be looked upon as a legitimate profession, and no longer made an offence in law, for which a person can be prosecuted in the Courts.
