This is a great hide and seek, lift the flap book, aimed at pre-school children.
Spot's Mum, Sally, asks "Where's Spot?" and so begins an interactive hunt for Spot through the house.
Is he behind the door?
Is he inside the clock? (grandfather clock I hasten to add!)
Is he in the piano?
Is he under the stairs?
And so on until eventually Spot is found in a basket ...

"Where's Spot?" was the first book by freelance illustrator, graphic designer and art director Eric Hill. Hill created Spot as a bedtime story character for his son Christopher, who was born in 1976. In 1980, the book "Where's Spot?" was published for the first time and marked the start of the "baby interaction" publishing concept. Spot, Spot, lovable Spot!

Advantages: Flaps to lift, animals to find, educational, well loved characters
Disadvantages: none
One of the most recognisable characters to pre-school children, after TV favourites like the Teletubbies, must be Spot the dog. Eric Hill has written many books about this lovable puppy, together with his parents Sam and Sally and his friends.
