A shock to my regular readers, I know, but as comes with growing up, I decided to change my lifetime habits and clean up my act a little. For well over 13 years I have been a heavy duty, hardcore scrubber, and upon reaching the ripe old age of 29 last December (and now approaching the big 3.0.with much speed!), decided it was time for change. And, as in all usual tales of lifestyle changes, I have not looked back since. The Philips Whirlpool Dishwasher has become one of the most relied upon and useful appliances in my house, never mind the kitchen. The price I paid for this dishwasher (£350) ... more

Advantages Advantages Features that you actually use

Disadvantages Disadvantages A tad on the expensive side

I had wanted a dishwasher for ages, and for ages my Hubby had said that a sink full of hot water and some Fairy Liquid was just as good, and anyway we didn’t have the room in the kitchen; then we moved. My kitchen was large and there was loads of space; space for an extra appliance I pointed out on more than one occasion!! September ’99, and my birthday was fast approaching, I had hinted at a foot spa, Hubby had other ideas. About a week before my big day he said we had to pop off to one of the big electrical retailers as he needed some cable, and when we got there I made a beeline ... more

    Advantages Advantages Dependable

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't get dishes and cutlery sparkling

I've now had a Phillips Whirlpool for some 3/4 years and whilst it hasn't broken down (touch wood) I'm afraid it doesn't get my dishes as sparkling clean as I would like. My model cost in the region of £600. I wasn't on the internet when I purchased it and I must admit I was amazed at the savings that could be made purchasing electrical equipment in this way. Perhaps I was spoiled by my last dishwasher, a Zanussi slimline which unfortunately I had to leave in my previous property when selling the house. This really was amazing. Dishes came out absolutely sparkling with no residue food and even ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap and straight forward to operate

Disadvantages Disadvantages Easy to switch on by little people (kids!!)

'But Mum I don't want a dishwasher, what use would that be with a new baby in the house?' Yes you've guessed it.....Mum knows best. Thank You Mum!! Why a dishwasher? New baby!! Not a lot of time for washing dishes when you have bottles and steralising added to the daily chores! Later it would prove invaluable when I returned to full-time work. Why this particular model? ADP9520 (Emotions range) It was good value for money 18 months ago, £230. I was not really up on what a dishwasher should or should not have. What was important to me was that it could be set to come on via an Economy 7 socket ... more

Advantages Advantages Well priced, efficient, quiet

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

I bought my Philips Whirlpool Dishwasher just in time for Christmas. I was fed up with all that washing up by hand and with a total of 25 people for Cristmas Dinner I decided to take the plunge and get one. It cost me £350 from a local electrical store and included fitting not that it took long as all the pipes and things were already plumbed into the kitchen so it was really just a job of connecting it all up. The machine itself has three wash cycles. The first is a rinse cycle, ideal for cleaning most of the food residue off the plates if you have not got a full load and need to leave it ... more

Picture the scene, May 2001 and we'd just ordered our new kitchen. We'd decided we wanted a dishwasher, but didn't fancy taking the built in option the kitchen company were offering, so it was up to us to provide one. Well, after reading some reviews, looking at reliability surveys, and punching buttons and pulling racks in the shops, we plumped for a Whirlpool ADP2652. It had come down to a choice of the Whirlpool, an AEG, a Bosch and a Zanussi. The Whirlpool felt the best built, and had the best features and most flexible interior. I like the design too, although some people may not like it ... more

I used to think it was a status symbol having a dishwasher but I was recommended by several friends on the many benefits. When I moved house I found there was room to have one installed so it was one of my first buys and I'm not disappointed. It has various programs from a pre-rinse through economy to hotter settings. I mainly use economy but a hotter wash when there are oven dishes. I'm a big tea drinker so I used to bleach my mugs to get rid of tea stains but no longer! My daughters were amazed at how clean I could get feeder mugs that had juice stains on. Not only that but the dishes are ... more

Having not had a dishwasher before, you really don’t know how much they can make life easier until you actually have. I have always preferred Philips as a make, as I have a few other electrical appliances and the seem to be very good. I bought the Whirlpool Dishwasher for £300 it was originally £400 but I got it in the sales. I have to say that I am so glad that I bought it, it’s easy to use and setting up and getting the hang of it was no problem. The dishes more importantly are cleaned and there’s no more arguing who’s washing up turn it is. It rinses the pans cleans ... more

For many years I have been saying the last thing I would buy in the kitchen was a dishwasher as Ithought they were Expensive to run. and just as much work as doing the dishes by hand. i also would have to remove a cupboard to fit one in. So I did without. Most washing up liquids effect my skin. So I eventually decided to buy a dishwasher. And I have never regretted it since. I purchased a phillips whirlpool which does the job very well. it took very little and no plumber requied to install as it connected to the sink waste and the cold water feed to the sink. it has six programes and several ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Need a facia panel as well

I recently had to buy a replacement dishwasher after our old one leaked over the kitchen floor once too often. After a lot of browsing shops and WWW sites, the best deal I've found for an integrated dishwasher is a Whirlpool ADG957. This is the model at the top of their range and the list price is £620. http://www.trade-appliances.co.uk/ are selling it for £339 including delivery. On top of this, you need to add a front facia panel to match the rest of your kitchen. The cheapest integrated dishwasher that I could find was for £276 (from www.southern-domestic.co.uk) but this model has a few ... more
