Had a Whirlpool AWM 328 washing machine for nearly nine years and apart from a new control panel in its first year, used to just stop before starting spin cycle, never had another problem until just yesterday evening when in the middle of the spin cycle it started to make a horrible clanking sound and had to rush to turn it off. Bought a freezer ( AFG8060) in Dec 2005. Did not take out a warranty as it was replacing one that had lasted 34 years without repair. 20 months later it developed a clicking sound in the control panel. "Oh, without a warranty that will be £75 to send out an engineer plus any parts." The prognosis was a £150-£200 bill. I asserted that at 20 months we should not have to pay for such a repair and was looking for some recognition of that point of view. ...
