A CLASS ACT Review ofWicked - Jilly Cooperby

Advantages: A riotous, unputdownable read Disadvantages: Teenage sex is a turn-off

* DETENTION MARKS *
However, Wicked is a huge departure from her usual grown-up rollicking reads and whilst the story itself is exciting and hugely readable, there is one aspect of it which didn't sit well with me.
Teenage sex.
I'm not a prude. When I buy a book by Jilly Cooper I know I'm going to be reading about 'romps' and the rather jolly sexy antics of her adult characters. But, please, sex between children? What was I supposed to feel? ...

Advantages: Quite entertaining. In places. Disadvantages: Basically a load of old nonsense.
Can't say I've ever been a fan of jolly super Jilly Cooper - in the dim and distant past, I read and mildly enjoyed a couple of her tales of randy toffs - but for some reason, upon seeing her latest (hard to miss, it's massive) in the library, and being in the mood for some utterly nonsensical escapism, I decided to give it a go.
Subtitled "A Tale of Two Schools", that's basically just what it is: struggling Larkminster Comprehensive, known rather ...

Advantages: Massively entertaining! Disadvantages: Some teen sex
Oh we've waited a long time for this to arrive and when it did it took me by surprise because i hadn't seen any publicity about it at all. I was in my local Eason and there it was sitting as large as life and twice as loud shouting at me to buy it. I feel this apt because this is exactly what this book is. It is larger than life and really brash.
Over the last few books I because disallusioned with Jilly. I still bought the books and read them ...

Advantages: Detailed Disadvantages: Very long. Can be confusing
I have yet to finish this book because I am finding it extremely hard to get into. There are too many characters to keep track of them, and I don't feel they are portrayed convincingly at all! The amount of underage teenage sex is disgraceful, and teachers with pupils doesn't sit well with me at all! As for a beach book, well, I hope you have strong shoulders because this book is HEAVY!
If teenagers out there read this, will they be thinking it's ...

Advantages: Great Plot, Gets you Hooked! Disadvantages: wanting to read it in one sitting!!
I was introduced to Jilly Cooper books not too many years a ago by my Mum. Last year before a holiday I was wandering around Waterstones trying to decide on a holiday book to read when I noticed the latest Jilly Cooper 'Wicked' - which was suprising as i had heard nothing about it coming out.
Having recently re-read this book I decided to write a review.
~ Basic Plot ~
Basically the story is of two schools 'Larks' a state comprehensive and ...

Advantages: Another great book from Jilly Cooper Disadvantages: Unputtdownable
I have been a fan of Jilly Cooper for a long time, and I always eagerly await her next book.
I saw her being interviewed about this before it came out, and she certainly did her homework before writing this.
It's basically the tale of a posh public school with all the advantages, versus a run down state school on the verge of closure. Jilly, of course, puts a few twists in it along the way.
There are some predictable, but great moments in ...

Advantages: Good old Jilly Read Disadvantages: Long way to the end
I thought this was a "wicked" read... sorry about pathetic pun!
It was the usually Cooper lore which is what I like. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. I'd been down the gloriously speckled road of Cooper characters from Larkminster before. It was like a secondary school reunion, meeting friends from the past and seeing what they were up to.
Wicked is different from Polo, Riders etc., in that it focuses alot more on the lives of the teenage ...

Advantages: great to see the old characters..... Disadvantages: hardback is sooo heavy!
I spotted this in my local supermarket a few months ago and as i have read the rest of the series i begged and pleaded to my mum to buy it me for my birthday.(im 31 and still have to plead!!!).
SURPRISE! There it was all wrapped on the day and i started it within the hour........
This is all about the schools that alot of the characters went to in the previous novels. It has alot of the old characters in like Rupert and Taggie Campbell-Black and ...

Advantages: Good Beach book Disadvantages: Talks in detail about teenage sex
i have never read a book written by Jilly Cooper before, i bought it at the airport as it was half price. I thought it was a really good read and would recommend it to people who would be interested in teaching or schools.
The plot was good and the ending is unexpected, there are alot of sexual parts of this book and some are about teenagers having sex, not just with each other but teachers and other adults.
This book is interesting as you start ...

This was my first Jilly Cooper book that I have read and it was a great book to read. I found it very entertaining and easy to read. the Story is about a young lady teacher who takes on a head teachers job at a school that is not performing very well, full of drop outs in a not very area. There are great twists to the story as Jana Curtis tries to win the hearts of the community and tries to turn the school around. You get to learn about all these ...

Wicked book Review ofWicked - Jilly Cooperby

Advantages: very readable unable to put down Disadvantages: none
This was my first Jilly Cooper book. I really enjoyed all of the story. The characters are very believeable, loved everything about the book.
Opened up to me Homer's books which I have decided to buy and have a read. I highly recommend this book and have told all my friends to read it. I wonder if Jilly is going to a follow on book as I wanted it to carry on and didn't want it to end.
The only thing I felt uncomfortable with was the teenage ...
