...carry the Wilko brand. Wilkinson has probably been around for getting on for 20 years now, but has only become a prominent name in the high street in the past 3-5 years. It sells just about everything! Departments within the store include a basic range of clothing, home and kitchen ware, garden equipment and furniture, tools, paint and DIY, toiletries, children’s toys, stationery, cards and confectionery. I would not, however, define it as ... ...My personal experience with Wilkinson is largely based in the toiletries department. As well as carrying their own Wilko brand for many products, they stock the majority of well-known brand toiletries, but at prices generally at least 10-20% cheaper than those to be found in Boots, Superdrug, or even Tescos. For example, my L’Oreal Elvive shampoo sets me back around £2.29 in Boots (although admittedly I try to take advantage of BOGOF offers, ...

Advantages: Sells most small things for the home Disadvantages: not very helpful staff
You can always tell a Wilkos, short for Wilkinsons with the yellow banner outside and glass plated windows that are large and the amount of things that are packed tightly into the store.
I first came into contact with this store in the late 80s when I lived in the Greater Manchester Area and a new little version had opened in Sale. I swore by this shop then as I do now, but somewhere down the line it has lost its customer service.
I am going to ... ...point out that most of the stores are the same that I have visited.
The Layout of the store
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every shop in our areas have lino type industrial flooring and the shops are very very brightly lit. The stores seemed to be stocked from ceiling to roof which is not much help if the item you are looking for is 15ft high out of reach. There are alsorts of racks that take products from floor to ceiling, this could be square baskets full ...
Advantages: All that stuff, under one roof Disadvantages: As Above
Wilkinson’s (or Wilko’s as it was previously known) is as tempting for shoppers as a shiny piece of jewellery is to a magpie. Very. For those of you who don’t know it, Wilkinson’s is bit like that shop in Open all Hours (you know with a very young David Jason) it really does sell everything (unfortunately the customer service is often on a par with Ronnie Barker’s!) My first experience of Wilkinson’s came about ... ...and subsequently needed things to put in it. Important things such as glasses, cutlery, cooking implements and stuff like that. Now I used to be quite snobby about Wilko’s, but now I go in there with great regularity, handily I have to walk past one on the way back to my car each and every day and can often be seen snatching up the bargains.
A little bit of research has taught me that Wilkinson’s has been gracing this planet since 1930, ...
Advantages: All sorts of everyday items at very competitive prices Disadvantages: 'jack of all trades, master of none'
...Wilkinsons:
You will find a Wilkinson store in most Town Centre High Streets and suburban shopping areas. The down side is that the shops do not tend to provide their own car parking for customers so you may have to carry bulky goods for quite a distance. On to the shop itself:
The stores have fairly standard aisle layouts with reasonable circulation space for prams and people. Internal signage is not brilliant so you can spend quite a bit of time ... ...staff are helpful and have a good knowledge of the location and availabilty of products Various staff are trained to given specific on advice on certain products such as paint.
Checkouts do tend to get busy but waiting time is never too bad. Not much room between checkouts for bulky items or prams though.
Because of the huge range of goods on offer, there is quite a limited choice of each product. But if you want a good value product and you're ...
Advantages: range and prices Disadvantages: layout
...offer goods of dubious quality, Wilkinson offers a significant number of recognisable brands at low prices, and an own brand range of quite respectable quality.
Range of products: That I have seen - household ware, baby bedding, toiletries, gardening stuff, wicker baskets, clothes, furniture, glassware, paints, wallpaper, toys, ornaments - they don't do much in the way of food, but in terms of hosuehold items, they do almost anything you can think ... ...so if you see something you like, don't hang about as you might never see it again. Some of their items, most notably the ornaments, are of dubious quality, while others are superbly good -generally it leans towards the good though. Their own brand toiletries are very good indeed, and even if you don't want anything else, its worth shopping at Wilkinsons for deodorant, shampoo, baby wipes and the like.
Worthy of special note: Wilkinsons are to the ...
Wilkinson also have a good returns policy, no quibble guarantee on most of their goods. Help desks located at the front of the stores are a good idea, with well trained staff on the desk to deal with queries/returns/complaints. If you require an item that is out of stock they also have an ordering service, and can order any item you need from their extensive range. Advantages: Cheap, good range, helpful staff Disadvantages: Spend too much
The first experience I had of Wilkinson’s was about 9 years ago, whilst visiting my in-laws in Cramlington, Northumberland, and when we discovered that our local Food Giant was being transformed into a store we were excited.
I love Wilkinson’s! They stock a wide range of household goods, from cleaning products to pet care to decorating and finishing touches. Being unable to drive, in the past, decorating products have had to be purchased from a ... ...costly.
We recently had new windows installed by Safestyle, but that is a different review, and decided that we wanted new curtain tracks/poles to finish off the new windows.
I purchased a metal pole with matching tie backs for the children’s room, two wooden poles for the master bedroom, two café rods for the bathroom, a bamboo blind for the kitchen and 4 tension rods for nets, at a total cost of just short of £50.00 all fittings and curtain rings ...
Advantages: Cheap shopping without compromise on quality Disadvantages: Too many great things to buy my purse can't cope
I just have to write about my favourite shop in the whole world...boy do I need to get a life!
I've shopped at Wilkinsons for about 20 years (and I'm only 29 next week!)
So for those people who haven't shopped there or who remember Wilkinsons as a hardware store, I'll give a quick breakdown on what they sell now.
Household Cleaners
Toiletries
Kitchen Equipment
Gardening Products
Pet Products
Stationery
Sweets
Clothes all ages
DIY Products ... ...they have offers, buy one get one free (BOGOF), 3 for 2 etc. but the beauty is that this is ON TOP of great prices! My particular buy is my shampoo! I buy Alberto VO5 which in stores like Boots and Supermarkets sells for between £1.99 and £2.19, at Wilkinsons it's 97p!
CUSTOMER SERVICE
If,like me,you are on a tight budget,(gave up full time work to be a full time mum),or you just can't resist a bargain,then look no further than your local Wilko,s store.
This hardware store sells a massive range of branded goods aswell as their own brand label products,which reasonably compare in quality.
Every week I pay this store a visit to buy all of my cleaning products and my toiletries.I have just switched to their own brand of anti-perspirant ... ...priced over the pound mark,and I was very impressed.It kept me dry and smelt lovely all day long.
The store ,(apart from personal items),also caters for the keen gardeners or D.I Y ers,me being one of them,and has a wonderful range of paints,brushes and tools.If you are decorating at the moment then you are sure to find a bargain in the decorative section.
With winter very nearly upon us ,most of us car owners will be preparing the car for those ...
Advantages: Good prices and customer care Disadvantages: Not enough stores threw out the country
Well where can i start. It must of been about 5 years now when Wilkinson's first opened up in my city centre, and ever since I've been addicted. I go in even though I don't need anything, but just to have a look. I've already seen almost everything there is to be seen but yet every time i walk past the store, I here a voice calling out to me saying, come inside of me lol. Well no I'm not insane but not to far away from it.
I love to see the Christmas ... ...the store is good and smell's fresh. There is a wide range of products and what I love is a nice gardening section. The staff and friendly and always willing to give any help or advise. This is a store not restricted by just 5 products. It's got everything from your DIY, hardware, tools, decorating equipment, perfumes, medical care, treats for your pets, clothing, furniture , kitchen appliances and a wide selection of sweets and drinks plus more. ...
...UK, for me is the Wilkinson store. Everything you need is under one roof and they don't overcharge like some other well known high street shops. You can get clothing, houseware, kitchenware, garden stuff, baby stuff, toiletries and personals, decorating products etc. etc.. all in one shop. They have perfumes and aftershaves at a cheaper price than other stores even when it's a sale season. In this shop you don't get cheap and nasty products, everything ... ...layout is easy to follow but there's always a rush in this shop because the prices are so low and stuff is so good. Whatever you need you'll find it here. The clothing range is very up-to-date and trendy and the prices still are very reasonable. This store is very popular and it's popularity will keep growing because of two factors, cheap prices and quality products. ...
Ever since i was younger i have been shopping at wilkinsons,now that i have my own family i still shop there.
I think it is a really good everyday shop for most of everything you need i go there a least once a week for things from toiletries to DIY things garden things and all sorts its a good shop.
The price i pay for some things is really cheap compared to other shops who sometimes charge you twice the price for the same product so thaks wilko's ... ...a good thing, but i always find it does not always look very welcoming it just needs a bit of lay out improvement no big deal,it won't stop me from going in for a browse.I have found the staff helpfull at times when i could not find what i wanted until they kindly pointed it out.
