...skin-masher of choice is the Wilkinson Sward Quattro, which was bought in error by my wife when I told her to go out and buy some blades for my Gillette Mach 3. Being as she is a) female, b) a self-certified shopaholic-cum-bargain-hunter, and c) blonde, she decided she'd go with the Wilkinson Sword Quattro because she got a good deal from Boots: the razor (which includes two blades) and an extra cartridge of four more blades for the princely sum ... ...thing you notice about the Wilkinson Sword Quattro is that it has been designed with aesthetics in mind rather than the removal of facial hair. I find the weight of the item awkward: a little too light in my hand and the seated angle of the blades makes for an awkward hold whilst trying to shave under the chin and beneath the nose. Unlike the Gillette, I cannot get quite close enough to the underneath of my nostrils.

...in Safeways I bought the Wilkinson Sword Quattro. It cost £4.49 (as opposed to ten Bics for 99p), but looked great in its shiney plastic packaging with its fancy holder and one extra "free" blade unit!
So it sat in my bathroom until a couple of days into the holiday and the stubble had got on her nerves sufficiently for me to unclip the Quattro from its docking station and enjoy the ultimate shaving experience as portrayed on the TV adverts.
It ... ...not so much about the Wilkinson Sword Quattro - but more an admission of how I was taken in by the Ad men.
Did I take it back? Not on your life...it is such a fine looking piece of engineering that I quite like to look at it on the shelf when I'm using my Bic.
UPDATE
So there I was in Safeways yesterday and guess what? - The Quattro is now a stonking £5.99 and the 10 pack of Bics is 79p. Things are certainly going the right way for me! ...

...reviewing, as there is a Wilkinson Sword Quattro for women razor which you have to buy blades for, and then there are the Quattro for Women disposables, and those are the ones that I will be writing about.
When it comes to razors, my absolute favourite is the Gilette Venus Vibrance, but it's quite expensive as are the replacement blades, and so a couple of months ago I started buying these to use as an 'everyday' razor, and save the Venus Vibrance ... ...to be incredibly smooth - not very often in this freezing cold weather!
The razors come in a pack of four and the pack is really easy to open - just remove the cardboard at the back. I mention this because often when they come in those plastic packs you have to cut open with scissors I end up slicing through my hand!

The product itself is the first four-blade razor, no doubt brought into the market to compete with Gillette’s successful three-blade product. I actually made a good saving because the free one I received ... ...an extension of the image Wilkinson have developed so well including their branding and packaging. The blades look as compact as any other, you really have to look close to see the four blades as they are so close together, and they are protected by a thin wire guard. Although the blades are easy to attach and take off, you can’t help but feel the design is more for aesthetics than ease of use with a large slide button controlling the mechanism. ...

I received the Wilkinson Sword Quattro wet shaver for fathers day from my wife and son (very thoughtful of them, eh?) even though I was perfectly happy with my triple blade effort from same.
A friend recommended the Quattro some months earlier, so using it was a must to see if it really did shave as close as he had suggested.
My friends face always did look clean and smooth, but that's enough about that .... what was the Wilkinson Sword newbie ... ...expensive to buy the new Wilkinson Sword Quattro.... That is until you want replacement blades. I haven't seen these cheaper than £5.49 for four yet, so I'm glad that the blades I've got seem to be lasting so long.
Next father's day there may well be a five blade razor available ... I wonder if I'll get it? ...

...think someone should have told Wilkinson has just fallen on its own Sword a free sample of rubbish will always be just that rubbish.
I won't go into the packaging bit I've already done that one they all look good pity you can't get them open without having class one laser scalpel though. Start making cars out of this stuff and the car industry will grind to a halt. At first glance great four blades surley better than three, look its so sharp it ... ...cut myself with it. My poor face has never forgiven me
Even giving the razor in my experience was a bad move since experiencing the worst shave I've had in years Wilkinson should go back to the drawing board. There are better ways to shave out there. ...

...of the Mach 3 (Turbo), Wilkinson Sword respond with the worlds 4 bladed razor!! Is it worth parting with our hard-earned cash for the sake of yet another blade in the cartride? Read on.
First impressions were fine to say the least. The razor had a nice substantial feel in the hand with its rubber and matt alloy body, and the 4 bladed cartridge looked pretty snazzy with the light glinting off the 4 blades and their protective wires. Unfortunatly ... ...of sponge that precedes the blades? The lubricating strip was OK however, and the final shave quality was no better than using a cheap electric razor.
I will never use another Wilkinson Sword razor again until they remove those ridiculous protective wires they insist on putting on their cartridges. ...

No No No... Wilkinson! It took them years to respond to the Mach 3 and this is what they produce?
My Philishave pop up trimmer broke so I thought I'd treat myself to a new Mach 3 which I'd used before and been very happy with.
It wasn't going to be that easy though. I stood in Boots for nearly half an hour deciding whether to buy the shiny new Quattro or stick to the tried and tested mach 3. I'm sure the shop assistants were thinking I was going ... ...and the technology got the better of me and I bought the Quattro. Obviously it has to be the ultimate shave hasn't it?
Err no... It was an extremely annoying experience and the worst shave I've ever had. Four days of growth was an alien concept to this razor. It's so badly designed, the blades are too close together and the handle joins to the back of the blade so it becomes impossible to rinse. After 20 minutes I'd spent 15 minutes rinsing and ...

Advantages: a very close smooth shave Disadvantages: new razors are expensive
i bought this shaver last christmas so about 6 months ago, it's my second shaver and although my first shaver was quite old and i dont even no the name of, there is a big difference the quattro shaves very well at the end of a shave your face feels very smooth. The first thing you notice is the handle is a bit heavier than what you'd expect but then again a lot of Wilkinson's razors have been like that. With my first shaver even though it had 3 blades ... ...or 3 times therefore adding to the time it would take to shave, this is almost erradicated with the Quattro. The Quattro's head bends back quite far giving you a good range of movement for those awkward areas on your neck when stubble grows in all directions, and also come with 2 Aloe strips before and after the blade which actually seem to work. But the blades should be quite good as they are quite expensive. so overall this is a very good shaver ...

...Like other reviewers i assumed Wilkinson sword to be a decent brand of shaving products and the razor looked good. Unfortunately it doesn't shave properly and leaves my skin sore. The blades soon start clogging up with stubble that refuses to wash away. I have never reviewed a product before, but am so incensed by the poor quality of this product that i googled for an opportunity to review it. i have just thrown the razor in teh bin and will now ...

Appalling shave. Beware - it clogs in no time with hair, as the blades are far too close together. I didn't even get a full shave done before the razor was useless. And don't think the hair will easily wash out - it won't.

Upon buying a Quattro, when they were on offer in my local Sainsbury, I tested it out that very day. I have to admit I didn't mind the shave but the additional blade I had from my previous shaver (Mach 3) wasn't altogether making a difference and I was still going over the same spots because of the uneven hair lengths left over despite the four blades.
