Everyone loves a happy ending... don't they?
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by CaptainDisaster

Advantages: Very funny, great characters, great story
Disadvantages: Gets a little baudy in places

...by wicked witches? The good witches have to go and stop it happening, of course!! Well actually there's a lot more to it than that, but there you have the basic plot. When someone's Fairy Godmother dies, she entrusts her job to none other than Magrat, a young witch who is almost by her own admission a "wet hen". She tries desperately hard not to be, but there you are - that's what she is. The recently deceased Fairy Godmother, Desderita, wants ... Read review

The old hags go travelling
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by Aquarian

Advantages: funny and easy to read,
Disadvantages: none

...you will be entertained and Witches Abroad is just as good as the others. The start of the book takes us to a cottage in the woods, where an old witch Desiderata is getting ready to pass away, all witches of course know the exact time and place of their death so they can prepare for it. Death who makes an appearance in most of Pratchetts books is standing watching the old witch get ready. She leaves a note and a package with the poacher and jumps ... Read review

Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by 87degrees

Advantages: Funny, entertaining
Disadvantages: Not as good as some of his other books

...a range of characters, from witches and wizards to soldiers and nobles and even Death himself. The central characters for this book are witches, but even they have their own, distinct personalities. ~~~ The Setting ~~~ The Discworld is flat, with a warm, tropical Rim around the edge and an icy mountain range, the Ramtops, in the centre. The Ramtops are very magical and tend to produce witches and wizards. There are dwarves and trolls living there, ... Read review

Excellent
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by Alishas

Advantages: Witty and complex.
Disadvantages:

...fully appreciated. I like Pratchett's witches books marginally more than his other because the characters are so vivid and are easily empathized with, especially Magrat. Despite being a thoroughly "wet hen", as Granny puts it, I couldn't help but wish that something would go right for her. Within the complicated plot and the original characters there is Pratchett's unfailing wit, but it also throws an interesting perspective on the old conflict between ... Read review

The Best of Pratchett!!
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by daisymay_chantele

Advantages: witty, compeling and an easy read
Disadvantages: none

One of the amny discworld novels Terry Prachett has written, and one I truly enjoyed. His writing style is unique, confusing at times but brilliantly comical. If you've read any of his others in the discworld series, and loved it you'll love this one. Based around fairytales and fairy God Mothers, he brings alive every fairytale there is, from Cinderella to Little Red Riding Hood, and does it in such a way it keeps you hooked for the finally in the ... Too Much Fairy Tale
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by JeffSumm

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...doesn't make it right. Witches Abroad pretty much relies on poking fun at all the European stereotypes and really overdoing the stealing from a bunch of fairy tales. After a while the book gets very monotonous. There are some good bits, but you really have to dig for them, and in general I found I only finished the book out of some strange feeling of obligation. After all, most of his books are really good. ... Read review

Weird sisters on holiday
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by spiralmonkey

Advantages: Very readable, very funny
Disadvantages: Not many that I can see

I loved this book. The characters are more fully rounded here, being fleshed-out with little personality tics that both endear them to you and make them easy to identify with. They become almost like old friends. I really liked the use of fables, folklore and urban myths as a narrative to pin the story to. This is a modern day morality tale, but with better dialogue. Good is good (sometimes - a bit crotchety, a bit judgemental maybe and definately ... Read review

bit smug sounding
Review of Witches Abroad - Terry Pratchett by happytan

Advantages: terry prattchett wrote it
Disadvantages: samey and more boring than usual

i really like all of terrys books but this book along with the carpet people seems to be terry running out of ideas for a new story line. The characters he uses are quite similar to the ones used in other storys which makes it lack excitement as it seems like you've read thg story before.I would reccomend this product to anyone who is just getting into terrys works but would suggest to any accomplished reader of terrys that you will find it slightly ...
