  • The cheap key used to refill the system can break easily and get lost.
  • This picture may not mean much to you but look at how so many wires are exposed ready to get damaged by any leaks, full of hard to access parts too.

“I'm feeling hot, hot, hot”

ProHot water and central heating on demand

ConsThe cost of installation

As I said in my previous opinion about our new washing machine, when we moved into this house in July, things were definitely not as they had appeared to be! We had a conventional hot water tank with an immersion heater that worked so we could get hot water, but when we tried the central heating...

“Good but overrated”

published 03/02/2009

ProCustomer service

ConsEverything else.

The Worcester Greenstar boilers are probably the most overrated boilers on the market. Often people argue that the boilers are very good quality German boilers, in reality these boilers are not German but are actually made Worcester, UK! I would not describe these boilers as "rubbish"or...

I had a Worchester Bosch gas combi boiler installed about 4 months ago. I waited so long for writing a review on it because I wanted to make sure that I am writing a review after I test it. So, me and my wife moved into a two bed split level flat in London, which was in a very poor condition...

My wife & I decided to research our required product before going ahead with the installation. We spent a while doing this to ensure we got exactly what we wanted and more to the point what we required for the house we had just purchased. We had the Worcester / Bosch Combi Boiler Greenstar 30CDi installed in May this year, having recently moved into a house with a pre-historic back boiler. Having had over 8 heating engineers round to quote for the job and provide advice on their preference of boiler for our 3-bed semi, and then...

ProWhen it works it is very efficient.

ConsNoisy and unreliable - due to the pipes I believe

I had my old Vaillant boiler which I had for 12 yrs replaced as it was noisy even though efficient. I bought the Worcester Combi as it came with a 5yr warranty. I've only had it installed since May with an authorised dealer (yes, I did everything by the book!). My boiler has been making water...

The boiler is fine -- I had one fitted at the end of October 2007 and it's excellent. The digitizing thermostat (wireless) is so unreliable it is next to useless. Give Worcester their due - their jolly little call centre does call back and arrange a visit and replacement very quickly but . . The...

We inherited a Worcester Bosch Highflow 400 seven years ago. It has chuntered away in the utility room giving us instant heat and water with relatively little trouble in all that time. It is sensitive to drops in pressure in the system (ours is a sealed system) so when we use the boiler relatively little ie on holiday or during summer it can cut out. We have to top up the water using a spiggot attached to the pipework outside the boiler, remove the front to check the pressure gauge which is a bit of a fag and press the reset buttons but we feel its been a small price to pay for something which has otherwise been really reliable.

daughters 28i went on the blink after 16 months with a diafram hole allowing cross over from heating to hot water and surge in pressure. Private plumber and a british gas engineer say this is common with this model. Costs £200+ to repair. Now exactly the same has happened to mother in laws boiler, increased pressure blowing radiators causing much damage. Worcester bosch do not want to know about this problem. Avoid this boiler or it will cost you dear.

This boiler has broken down three times in five years. That may not seem bad but each time has been a nightmare. Currently we have been without heating and hot water for 10 days. The WB engineer who arrived Saturday replaced three parts (one of which had been replaced last year at great expense) and didn;t have the only remaining part on him (although we had reported that this was the one our plumber believed to be faulty). It is tempermental, unreliable and you need a degree to be able to programme it. Hopeless!

April 2008. Had the worcester 30cdi combi fitted, unsure how it would compare to the vented system with a 2 bar pump boosting the pressure (low preesure in bungalow). Turns out to be a wise decision , Instant hot water when needed and it doesn't seem to be to much of a problem when more than 1 tap is opened. Shower is fantastic knowing you don't have to limit your time, due to a hot water tank being emptied quicker than it can be heated up.Thermastat now keeps the house at a constant temperature, which was a problem with the old system.Boiler is very quiet even though its in our kitchen.Bought from the Plumb Centre for £1180 including flue and dt20rf clock...

I changed my Worcester 24 combi for their best of breed GreenStar 30cdi. Can't say that I've noticed any difference. The new one was supposed to heat faster but, if it does, it's only slight. Too early to say how much less gas is used, except that the difference is small (perhaps the house is...

ProWoscester Highflow 400

ConsTotally Unreliable

This boiler is a disaster. Its is totally unreliable. Internally it looks like a prototype. It is mess of wires and pipes. It has broken down endlessly and caused me huge discomfort and inconvenience. Repair costs have exceeded 1,000 pounds. It was installed onto old pipes and radiators by the...

I had a Worcester Bosch 400 Highflow condensing boiler (floor standing) fitted at the cost of £4000. It broke down in the first month, I had to call out the engineers eight times, and had no hot water for four weeks. Eventually they replaced it. 14 months on it broke down again - out of guarantee...
