Advantages: Hot water and central heating on demand Disadvantages: The cost of installation
...that we chose is a Worcester Combi Boiler 35CDi II.
It comes in a standard white metal case measuring 450mm wide, 850mm high and 600mm deep, so it’s quite a large piece of kit. Ours is fitted in the corner of the kitchen where an old heating boiler of some description had been. Don’t ask me what the old one actually did, if anything, we never worked that one out – as I say it’s a house like that!!
The cost of the boiler plus the labour for the ...

Advantages: Customer service Disadvantages: Everything else.
The Worcester Greenstar boilers are probably the most overrated boilers on the market.
Often people argue that the boilers are very good quality German boilers, in reality these boilers are not German but are actually made Worcester, UK!
I would not describe these boilers as "rubbish"or "unreliable" but rather over hyped and not worth how much there are.
Another thing about these boilers is that if you really wanted to get this boiler you would ...

...for the most expensinve make, Worcester Bosch, because I wanted real quality and everybody told me: "Bosch is the best, but is expensive".
Ok, I opted for a Worcester Bosch 24I range and then I started shopping around…God bless Internet !! I found an incredible deal, a company (I am not going to give names, this is an opinion about boiler itself, but if you're interested I can tell you in private) selling all kind of combi boilers (brand new, ...

We had the Worcester / Bosch Combi Boiler Greenstar 30CDi installed in May this year, having recently moved into a house with a pre-historic back boiler. Having had over 8 heating engineers round to quote for the job and provide advice on their preference of boiler for our 3-bed semi, and then having reviewed the various boiler recommended (Valiant etc) we opted for the Worcester / Bosch Combi Boiler Greenstar 30CDi primarily on family recommendations, ...

We inherited a Worcester Bosch Highflow 400 seven years ago. It has chuntered away in the utility room giving us instant heat and water with relatively little trouble in all that time. It is sensitive to drops in pressure in the system (ours is a sealed system) so when we use the boiler relatively little ie on holiday or during summer it can cut out. We have to top up the water using a spiggot attached to the pipework outside the boiler, remove the front to check the pressure gauge which is a bit of a fag and press the reset buttons but we feel its been a small price to pay for something which has otherwise been really reliable.

Advantages: Excellent energy efficiency and money savings over older versions Disadvantages: Time lag to generate hot water on economy mode
...installation, we decided on the Worcester / Bosch Greenstar Condensing combi 30CDi.
The Actual installation took two days but his also included having all our radiators fitted with Thermostatic valves for even better efficiency, the removal of the old hot water storage sytem and also the removal of the cold water stoarge sytem from the loft space. The house was empty due to the fact we were not due to move in for a couple more days so this aided ...

Advantages: pumps heat out, when the thermostat isnt fault which is often Disadvantages: two new thermostats within three months of new- can't be coincidence
...is next to useless. Give Worcester their due - their jolly little call centre does call back and arrange a visit and replacement very quickly but . . The thermostat began to dysfunction on 21st Dec- by 29th Dec I'd had enough of no heating, coming home to an icy home. Once I reset the receiver it worked fine. . Until the next time - two or three times a day I had to reset it. Waste of money!
Worcester replaced the thermostat and receiver in 8th ...

Model Bosh Scottish Gas ICC2. Lasted 4 years before heat exchanger packed in causing £1000 worth of repairs or maybe a new boiler. Sold as Rolls Royce more like a Morris Minor. Don't waste your money buy a cheaper one so that when it fails you don't feel so bad. PS this is the second condensing type boiler to fail on the heat exchanger in 13 years. Can someone tell me how this benefits the environment?

This boiler has broken down three times in five years. That may not seem bad but each time has been a nightmare. Currently we have been without heating and hot water for 10 days. The WB engineer who arrived Saturday replaced three parts (one of which had been replaced last year at great expense) and didn;t have the only remaining part on him (although we had reported that this was the one our plumber believed to be faulty). It is tempermental, unreliable and you need a degree to be able to programme it. Hopeless!

daughters 28i went on the blink after 16 months with a diafram hole allowing cross over from heating to hot water and surge in pressure. Private plumber and a british gas engineer say this is common with this model. Costs £200+ to repair. Now exactly the same has happened to mother in laws boiler, increased pressure blowing radiators causing much damage. Worcester bosch do not want to know about this problem. Avoid this boiler or it will cost you dear.

Advantages: well known and respected brand Disadvantages: expensive
I changed my Worcester 24 combi for their best of breed GreenStar 30cdi. Can't say that I've noticed any difference. The new one was supposed to heat faster but, if it does, it's only slight. Too early to say how much less gas is used, except that the difference is small (perhaps the house is just warmer - but I don't think so).
The user guide proclaims that "Excellence comes as standard" but I'm afraid that's absolute b*ll*cks! The instructions ...

April 2008. Had the worcester 30cdi combi fitted, unsure how it would compare to the vented system with a 2 bar pump boosting the pressure (low preesure in bungalow). Turns out to be a wise decision , Instant hot water when needed and it doesn't seem to be to much of a problem when more than 1 tap is opened. Shower is fantastic knowing you don't have to limit your time, due to a hot water tank being emptied quicker than it can be heated up.Thermastat now keeps the house at a constant temperature, which was a problem with the old system.Boiler is very quiet even though its in our kitchen.Bought from the Plumb Centre for £1180 including flue and dt20rf clock...

This boiler is a disaster. Its is totally unreliable. Internally it looks like a prototype. It is mess of wires and pipes.
It has broken down endlessly and caused me huge discomfort and inconvenience.
Repair costs have exceeded 1,000 pounds.
It was installed onto old pipes and radiators by the house owner before me.
It seems to get clogged up with dirt.
Bosch have repaired it 5 times.
I suspect they do not know how to make them reliable.
Every ...
