Advantages Advantages Simple idea, easy to play, a little educational and lots of fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Maybe a little over priced for what is five dice and some paper after all.

There are many board games on the market these days, with some being as complicated to play as flying a space shuttle, although there are some that are easier to play than rolling a dice, and one particular game that has been on the market for many years now is one of those easy games that you do need a dice for, in fact you need more than one to play the game. The game I am talking about is a game with a strange name indeed, the game is called Yahtzee and is one of those games that all the family can enjoy, plus, it has a bit of an educational aspect to it as well. What do you get to play this ... more

Advantages Advantages A great old fashioned family game

Disadvantages Disadvantages If you're playing with a drink it is common to put te dice in your drink!! Or is that just me!!

YAHTZEE Yahtzee was "invented" by a Canadian couple in 1956 who used to play a game with dice on their yacht. It was from that invention that it became Yahtzee. Equipment: The game of Yahtzee consists of just a few pieces. Each game comes with a plastic cup; five dice; score sheets; and pencil. There is no game board. Object of the Game: The winner of Yahtzee is the person who accumulates the most total points after filling out his/her entire scoring sheet. ( ME!!) Playing the Game: To start the game, each player rolls a single die. The person with the highest score goes first, followed by the ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun for all ages, easy to learn to play, educational

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Addictive

In preparation for my op on the PC version of this game, I thought it was high time I revamp this poorly written op in hopes that I can refer to it in the next one as a reference. *~*~* What type of a game is Yahtzee? *~*~* Good question. Is it an educational game? Yes. Strategy game? Yes. Chance game. Yes. Game to play on your own? Yes. Game to play with friends and family? Yes. Sounds pretty comprehensive, doesn’t it? Well, you've got to admit it, that unless you’re a real sore loser, the only thing missing from this game is violence! And we can all do without that these days, can’t we? But ... more

4 Stars THE EAZY Game Review with images 12/01/2004
    User recommends the product

    Advantages Advantages Education, Fun, Simple

Disadvantages Disadvantages May be too noisy at times

First of all I must apologise for the title, some of you may have noticed that “THE EAZY” is in fact an anagram of “YAHTZEE”. Many people would just take one look at the name of this game and automatically assume that it has an oriental origin, however, they would be wrong because it originated in Canada from a wealthy couple who remain un-named. They invented this game to play on their yacht and whenever friends were invited aboard, they were taught how to play the “yacht” game. Their friends enjoyed the game so much that they requested copies of their own. In 1956, the couple approached Mr ... more

Advantages Advantages Cool dice roller (in travel version), i.e. no lost dice, lots of fun

Disadvantages Disadvantages Takes quite a lot of explaining even though its easy to get the hang of

Yahtzee is a game with many dimensions: one whose outcome is mainly decided by chance (meaning that it is not too much of a brain sore), but which involves enough of a skill element to make it an exciting challenge. The main feature of Travel Yahtzee (the version of Travel Yahtzee that I own was made by MB but I have recently seen different versions by Hasbro) is its unique dice roller. This is basically a red cuboid made out of a hard plastic and separated inside into 5 compartments. Within each of these compartments lies a die. A small circular hole in the top of the dice roller above each ... more

Advantages Advantages Great fun, very cheap to buy, gets a lot of use

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

This game has to be one of my favourite games of all time. I can remember playing it from a very young age with my brothers and sisters and mother and father. They were all addicted to it and they would play the game most nights for a couple of weeks. It would then be put back in the cupboard for a month or two and then it would come out again for another frantic session of play. It seems to have been around for years and years, it always seems to be in the shop. It has gone through a number of re-inventions in its time and it now comes in a very colourful package. I consider myself to be very ... more

Advantages Advantages Very simple, Lots of fun

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Yahtzee, so simple, yet so addictive, it is a very simple game, but once you start playing, you can’t stop, it can be played via your computer, with the game itself or you can just get five dice and make your own scorecard up, I must admit, I prefer to play on the computer, rather than the game itself, as it saves you having to do the scoring. So what is Yahtzee? Yahtzee, is a game of skill and chance, that can be played alone or in a group, it is basically a game of dice, with a draw poker mixed in, in which the aim of the game is to score the highest possible score over 13 rounds (13 ... more

Advantages Advantages Cracking Game, Easy to Play, Fun for All

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None

Technical Info: Manufacturer's age: 8 years and up Number of Players: 1 or more ( I would recommend 2 at least as then you have competition at least) About the Game: Now this really is a game of chance. The Basic Game is very simple to understand. You have 5 Dice with which you have to get a certain amount of sequences (more about this shortly) . The ultimate aim of the game is to throw a Yahtzee (i.e. you throw all 5 dice in three goes and get 5 equal numbers, this does not happen very often as you can imagine). Now I mentioned above about the sequences you need, basically you have a ... more

Advantages Advantages Fun and easy game

Disadvantages Disadvantages I can't think of any

Yahtzee is my all time favourite family game. It does involve some skill and keeping track of the numbers, but it’s also a luck game, so anyone can win. I used to play Yahtzee on family camping trips. If you had a huge group, then I suppose it would take a good long time to get around the circle, but I can’t see that there would be any limits. It’s even fun to play alone. Oh gosh. That’s a true confession. There were times that I would just toss the die and play through a score sheet just to see how high I could run my score. This game is a little like poker. You’re looking for matches like a ... more

Advantages Advantages Simple game to play in a car to pass the time away

Disadvantages Disadvantages Gets a little bit boring and repetitive

I first encountered Yahtzee style games as a youngster when playing poker dice as a youngster; these dice basically simulated a poker game. Yahtzee probably was around a lot longer than these dice but it only came to my attention when I used to visit my mother in Leicester. The game You roll five standard dice. Depending on the roll you can save some of the dice and roll the remainder. In total you get three rolls to try and get a scoring roll. The scoring 1s – roll as many 1s as possible and score 1 point for each 1. 2s – roll as many 2s as possible and score 2 point for each 2 ... more
