Advantages: Sound quality, storage size, price. Disadvantages: None that come to mind.
I actually own this product. Not sure if piratess does or has becase he/she seems to be reviewing another model if they think that the product has a 'built in radio'...mines certainly doesn't!!!
If you are looking for a way to store uncompressed CD's without using a disc changer, then this is the way to go. Sound quality from this players hard drive is excellent...hard drive copies seem to sound better than the originals. Controls are pretty easy ... ...drive takes 2 button presses and the other features are equally accessible. To address piratess' other comments about mp3 and DAB...this product is aimed at people who want uncmpressed music played through Hi-Fi components, NOT compressed mp3 playback...buy an iPod if that's what you want....buy a DAB tuner if that's what you want...beginning to see where i'm going with this?
All in all this product does what it says on the tin and i'm very happy ...

...more. What the Yamaha CDR-HD1500 does, it does well: Yamaha is reliable, the hard disk capacity is an impressive 250 GB, and there's a built-in radio. The sound quality is impressive, but not life-changing. It's simple to use.
Apart from that I'm not really sure what you're paying for. Without MP3 playback, super CD playback or DAB technology, this model lacks the most up-to-the-minute features, and it's not even as if the design makes up for it. ... ...systems) dull grey design resembles a VCR or one layer from a 1980s stacked sound system. Despite the considerable financial investment, the system is also fairly fragile - not shockproof at all. I should stress that MP3 and super CD playback are features that most people can do without (although DAB will become essential in the UK over the next couple of years) - however, it is really stupid to pay this much and not get those features and standard. ...

this product has a lot of advanteges,it working is very fast.its Large capacity holds data from approx 550 CD's.Ultra quick access and to compile and edit
10x High-Speed Ripping.it brings you great saving.
If listening to music is important to you, the CDR-HD1500 is going to make your life a lot more enjoyable. You can rip over 400 CD's onto the hard disk, then group the songs together for playback and recording. Creating your own personal CD collection ...
