Advantages: pretty, good patches, realtime knobs Disadvantages: limited multi-timbrality and polyphony
I bought this Blue Box as a first synth, and that is really what it's forte is. It isn't a monster, nor is it particularly unquie sounding, but it is a brilliant and cheap introduction to synthing. I ran mine linked up to my computer, which ran Cakewalk, and that set up was good to begin with on the computer music front. I have since progressed to more advanced solely computer-driven music making, but I do miss the old blue box.

Advantages: Great electronic sounds. Midi in out and thru. Disadvantages: Arpeggiator doesn't export it's sound.
I got this synth for $225.00 plus shipping off Ebay. This was my first modern synthesizer. The sounds really are great, and you can accomplish some really unique effects with it. My main complaint, is that it sometimes doesn't play well with others. Sometimes you will turn a knob and it will effect another of your synths in a strange and mabey bad way. Things like changing the master volume could trigger pattern start stop on another piece of equipment. ...
