Whilst a fair proportion of this status is due to the use in its early days by Carlos Santana, the design and features of this guitar rise well above the celebrity link.
Although the SG-2000 itself debuted in 1976, it came as a result of years of work by Yamaha designer Yojirou ... ...~~~~The Guitar~~~~ The Yamaha SGs had a number of features in common with the Gibson SGs around at that time, namely the double cutaway body style resulting in the horns still so prominent today. SG incidentally stands for solid guitar, and means basically that, a guitar with a solid wooden body.
