Advantages Advantages Comfort, easy handling, charisma.

Disadvantages Disadvantages thin wheels, low power on hills

I currently ride a Yamaha YBR125 and I can assure you that they are brilliant. Particularly if you are new on the road. As the CBT licence allows the rider to ride anything up to a 125 motorbike this fits nicely into the "1st Motorbike" category. Like all 125's she has the tendency to struggle up hills, steep hills are a guarantee to be completed in at most 3rd gear, not exceeding much more than 30 mph. I can honestly say this is the only criticism I have about it. It's also good as a first bike due to the controlling of it. There is very little to fuss about, particularly as all modern bikes ... more

Advantages Advantages Low cost, 100+ mpg, good brakes, comfy seat, low insurance, £15 tax

Disadvantages Disadvantages Awkward choke, lack of side stand, you'll want to ride round on it all day

Let me start by saying that I've loved every minute on my YBR. I bought this bike when I could no longer afford to run my car and needed something to run around on to town and to work. Out of the 3 main dealers (honda, suzuki and yamaha), I found that the YBR offered the best package. Since all the bikes are very similar you have to see what each dealer can offer you at what price. The YBR has a smooth 4 stroke engine that pulls happily all the way through the rev range, unlike a 2 stroke with their micro power bands. Also because it's a 4 stroke you get great fuel economy. I don't tend to ... more

Advantages Advantages Built for commuting with superlative fuel consuption.

Disadvantages Disadvantages annoying reflection at night on the instrument bezels from fuel guage light, road spray protection

I recently purchased this bike for £2,000 on the road. Included in the cost was free insurance supplied by Yamaha(UK) a years road fund , a tank of fuel and delivery by the dealer to my house. The alternative I did consider, the Honda cbf125, would have cost about £2,300 all in. Commuting really lets you get the best out of this bike. It's fast enough up to 50mph and will hold this speed along the flat without struggling. 4th and 5th gears are quite well placed and if speed does drop off on the hills, a quick change into 4th will get things back on pace. I'm 5'10" tall and for me the sitting ... more

Advantages Advantages Endurance, ease of maintenance priceworthy 100%

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Open chain, Lights

Since my previous review I clocked about 8000Km with my little grey mouse, driving through winter -10 C. The bike holds just on the slow lane on the (Dutch) highways. Topspeed 100 Km/hr or as low as 85 with strong headwinds. As a real truck chaser it is more comfortable. With passenger not adviced, but always with a big Box and a little windscreen. Winter is no problem, starting always on my handchoke ( carb type).Slippery roads too no problems, but better tires will be fitted when the old rubbers are worn for they are not not the best available-but wear resistant- and give some insecure ... more

Advantages Advantages With current fuel prices, this bike will easily take me 200 miles on £6-7.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages None.

I will start with the looks. Personally I think that the Yamaha YBR 125cc is a very good looking and well designed bike, it is also quite a big bike, so it doesn't really look like a little 125, which is a good thing. Although this does not effect the performance. I have so far been 70mph on this bike, and it gets there quite fast. The good thing is that it doesn't sound like its going to explode after hitting 50mph, like most The Yamaha YBR 125cc is a very comfortable bike to ride, it feels very smooth to drive, it is a pleasure to ride. The suspension on it is very good, even on bumpy roads ... more

Advantages Advantages On the Road price, Fuel Economy, UK Learner Legal, Practical Size

Disadvantages Disadvantages Choke is on the engine, not the bars - Wont keep battery charged

I've had this bike for five months, and have to tell people about it. This is a great 125. I set out to buy a new Honda CG125, but was won by the better styling, better equipment, and lower OTR price of Yamaha's YBR 125. I haven't regretted it. This is a great little 125. And it looks good! I think it's really important to be able to like your bike, and the styling of this one makes it easy to like! On top of that, it's a nice ride. There is NO vibration. Once the engine is broken in, everything is smooth and quiet. (The clocks include a rev counter, which is handy when riding the engine in ... more

    Advantages Advantages Styling, comfort, price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Akward choke, no temp guage

This is my first bike after passing my CBT. I basically was looking for a runaround so I don't use the car so much for short trips. I looked at the Honda CG125, Suzuki EN125 and a Kymco Zing 125. The Kymco was the better looking, cruiser stlye, loads of chrome, but it was second hand and a bit rusty so I left it. The first thing to strike me about the Yamaha was the size of it. it looks a lot bigger then you would expect a 125 to look. It's not in the same catagory as the Honda Varadero (spelling?) as that thing us huge but it's still plenty bike. I felt a little oversized on the Honda CG125 ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages bendy handle bars and stand

I have now had the ybr 125 for 2-3 yrs and it is by all means a great bike. Im 6ft 2 and it feels comfy not too small for me. As for the feul wow never have i known a bike thats run for so long on a full tank and downhill with the wind behind you you can reach 70mph although never have i done this as its not legal (mmmmm). Someone mentioned before it can take a wack as they went through a fence and it was fine, but let me tel yu this is not entirly true. I lost my back end on oil at about 15mph (as you do) and the handle bars bent real badly and cost quiete a bit to replace, my bike is ... more

    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Price, economy, practical, comfortable silent, stable

Disadvantages Disadvantages choke position, open chain

I just clocked around 500Km on second hand bike with just 500Km on it. Total the bike has just 1000Km. The YBR 125 is a very pleasant bike to drive. Sitting position is comfortable. The bike feels sure and stable, shifting very smooth. Since I am still breaking in my top speed is limited to around 70-80 Km/hr on secondary roads, which he does perfectly. The bike is very silent with these speeds, around 7000 rpm. A big plus is the tanksize with a large autonomy, around 400Km. Commuting is his thing. Small sized to get upfront at the lights, fast enough to keep up the pace with other traffic A ... more
