Advantages Advantages Runs on fresh air! An all round bargain!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Speed isn't great, but only as expected from a 125cc

I bought my YBR 125 from new in October 2008, downgrading from a fuel guzzling car for a more economical option. Woah! What an economical option! the tank is a 2 gallon which costs about £8-9 to fill from empty at present. The tank will last between 190-200 miles!! (80-100mpg!). You would expect there must be some downsides to this small cheap bike. Well there aren't really any. Speed? Well, yes, this is not a bike built for motorway use, however will comfortably sit at 60mph all day. I have managed 75 however this was downhill with a strong wind behind me! Common sense tells you that if you ... more

Advantages Advantages Fuel economy, reliability, smooth engine, electric and kick start.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Handle bar mirrors not wide enough.

Due to the ever increasing cost of petrol, I decided enough was enough and stopped using my car.I`ve had many motorcycles over the years including Yamahas of various engine capacities.I chose a Yamaha as they have never let me down in 40 years of motorcycling. The YBR 125 has proved to have the legendary reliability that comes as standard with the Yamaha brand, but what really amazed me was the staggering fuel economy that the bike delivers.I have checked the consumption several times using the brimming method and the bike is averaging over 130 mpg! I have owned this bike for over two years and ... more

Advantages Advantages fuel, price, insurance, size and comfort

    Disadvantages Disadvantages choke ... BUT

i've had 60mph for a good 10miles, out of this with only 100 miles on the clock... ive now done jus under 40 miles and only put £10 of petrol in the tank. i paid 1700 for it brand new, and the insurance TPOT&F for me is jus under 400. im just 17... its extremly comfortable, i have no problem riding it for say 35miles without a stop, unlike e.g. the RS50/125 crampin in the back and arms. ive had a few accidents with this bike, droped it, hit on a roundabout, swerved and came off... thers no damage to this bike... its so easy to have fixed and so cheaply. but gawd its takes some hamering, i've ... more

5 Stars Quick review of Yamaha YBR 125 by Mallia 29/12/2008
I have had this bike for three months now and all I have to say that its a great bike and would have been better with a nice big rear tyre and rear disc brakes like other small bikes, say like the Daelim 125 roadwin. Great handling and comfort.

Advantages Advantages Super economy, reliable, silent, agile.

Disadvantages Disadvantages bad standard light front, open chain

Now my 3 th review since I bought my YBR and some 15.000 Km under my wheels. Still strong, even after an accident. Minor repairs and a slight bend frontfork waiting for insurance money. All rideable damages Some work since last review includes a new rear tyre, and airfilter as needed for servicing, thats all, and repairs after hitting the road after a bicycle decided to skip a red light! Beyond these things the only thing is my chain and sprockets which now need a replacement and a front tyre left 30 % Economy is still about 40 kM on 1Liter or better , top speed is even a little higher than ... more
